So, this is absolutely nothing, but I just hit legend for the first time (playing about 7 years, never particularly seriously until the last few months) and have been almost entirely F2P the entire time (I bought the most recent tavern pass and Kharazan back in the day.)

So, I ground my way from D5 to L16480 using a slightly aggro secret Paladin. I feel kinda scummy about it, but Paladin and Mage are my mains, and this seemed like the right meta to make the push.

Anyhow, that's all. I'm just happy for the win (and slightly buzzed on a couple of celebratory IPAs)

edit: although I have to say fuck tickatus.  w/o the 2nd most broken card in the game making your opponent play with 2/3 of a full deck, control warlock would be garbage.

I suspect it is partly because Sorcerer's Apprentice is involved, and everyone knows the devs don't want to nerf her despite her being the root cause of countess problems over the years. I think they dug themselves a hole when they made Exodia mage a real thing, because now they cannot meaningfully change the card without killing all variants of that archetype and angering all its fans.

Other than Apprentice, you could look at Refreshing Spring Water, which deserves to be toned down, but I don't think it would really solve the APM mage problem. However they change it, it will still be efficient for a deck that has 25 spells, so mage will still be above the critical mass of efficient card draw that is allowing APM mage to function.

One is more hated than the other perhaps.

Its no secret that team5 simply ignores wild for the most part. Tiller decks were so prominent in reddit for example, that I barely had a day that I don't see some redneck undead farmer making into the memes or being shat on. APM mage on the other hand is barely ever mentioned.

Also Tiller decks only need 3 cards to do the combo, APM mage is practically a whole deck. That means tiller decks often have a second win condition whereas APM mage dies off if their train is disrupted.

I am at lvl 76, with pass. No quests left and 60% of XP achievments done. The hunter potrait of the batlle pass is so beautiful. Is this potrait Hearthstone-only or is there any lore from WOW?

Warlock is really overrated

Once you make it to Legend Warlock is not an issue outside of being specifcally used to counter priest.

Something tells me you  haven't actually played the deck because you are clearly underestimating how generally consistent Priest gets the cards they want.

Also, Hysteria is your go to for dealing with any small minions, there's not much else you even need.  There is no single deck that wins by just using a single 4/4 for the entire game

Here, let me lend a machete to this intellectual thicket.  I'm in legend (again) this season.  I can assure you that warlocks are still very much there, just as much as they were in "lower ranks".  

And then insinuating that they "haven't actually played the deck" is not only rude, but a stupid assumption at that.

Edit: if this came off a little stronger than necessary I apologize in advance.  But it just annoys me to no end when people go "the deck I play is infallible, the deck you play sucks" or a summation of that point in their own words.  And that's how your statements are coming across:  "My deck with Kazakus is 100% grade A corn fed beef.  Your deck with Xyrella/Samuro is downtown china-town ground chuck."

The truth is, both versions of the deck have clear strengths and weakness's.  And while kazakus is a fun card, I've tested both variants myself.  And I don't think one is a clear cut winner over the other.
