Tldr: No, as I enjoy overcoming the odds. However feel free to enjoy the game how you want. If you don't like a match up, don't play it.
I think people who concede that early miss out on the potential for a win. Too often if I play the hated class people concede without realizing I'm playing something way off meta. What could of been an easy win for them just gives me the W instead and still doesn't feel good because I wanted to try something crazy.
Being on the other end, matching up against a tough class is thrilling for me. Sure there can be frustrations. However even if I don't win just putting up a fight can be satisfying (especially with a meme deck).
The other day I had an amazing long fatigue game Vs a C'thun priest as Warrior. Such a tough grindy match. He played about 7 Shadow word Deaths from generation. I couldn't keep a board for more than a turn. Frustrating but I pushed through, kept enough health floating around that I won out. I wouldn't have that story, that victory, if I had just conceded based on my previous losses to Priest.
In the end it's a personal choice based on your enjoyment. Do what is fun with your game time.
This card is getting out of hand very quickly. It used to be a total crapshoot, but now with the newly cultivated Core set, most of the "bad" spells have been removed so you are much more likely to get high-value stuff. I've been on the giving and receiving end of some seriously unfair swings. For one example, Turn 7 Nagrand Slam to clear my board, leaving all 4 Kodos alive, followed by Turn 8 Survival of the Fittest. I've had several opponents have the Deck in their opening hand, followed by Refreshing Spring Water (not that it matters, but why isn't that a Nature spell?) for some crazy early game nonsense.
Was thinking about that just today. Maybe Classic remains as a mode that's always available and they have a second "Classic" mode that rotates through different Standard metas of the past. Naxx, GvG, etc
Not a bad idea although at some point that becomes clunky. That said, my personal favourite meta by far was Ungoro, so I'd love to have that available
So the reason I was thinking this would be their best option, obviously the Classic format will get stale, so they'll need to change it up. But because so many people invested time and money into their Classic collection they will likely want to keep that as an option that always exists.
So the next thing they could do is something like Classic WoW where you get to choose to progress expansions or stay back. Or rather for Hearthstone you just pick which expansion's meta you want to play in and have different queues for each option. But doing this could thin out the player pool a little too much. If they do this they may need to put indicators on the selection screen to say how populated the queues are, similar to how they do with WoW Servers when picking on. But this could be super clunky, so it'll likely be more what Hearthstone Year you want to play in to try and limit thinning out the player base too much.
The last option was what I was thinking of. To prevent all that clunk, and to not thing the player base too much, rotate each month or so between past metas. It could go by year, or standard metas from a certain expansion release, etc. The constant change can keep the Retro Hearthstone mode feel fresher as you won't face the same 9-12 decks all the time like you are going to see in Classic mode. And it gives players a chance to relive some of the old days and play some power house decks from the past in their original forms.
I would like to see them eventually put in a feature for friendly games where you can just choose what card sets are available. To try and have this experience in a friendly environment or if someone wants to set up a friendly tournament. And for something like the Expansion Showdown that Solem and Dekkster are doing they could limit the random card generation to only legal sets in their games.
I am also a big fan of having a "Limited" constructed mode that rotates sets along similar to how Arena has been doing, maybe also changing up what Standard and Wild sets are available each month or so, but that might just be a me thing!
I also find the golden cards annoying, but I can't really justify complaining about it since they were added to the track for free. If the devs had removed gold or packs when they added the golden cards, then I would be upset. But since the alternative to the golden cards is getting nothing at all, I'll take them.
I can't say I can ever advocate anyone to avoid their problems. Especially given that in hearthstone, trying to avoid specific classes is fairly futile as its largely dependent on the meta.
Right now the only deck I really can't stand is lunacy mage, but I'm not going to concede the minute I see a turn 2 Deck of Lunacy, because then I'd might as well just not play the game. Hearthstone can sometimes offer you more downs than ups, but that's basically a signal to close the game, do something else, then come back. Or do a little research and try finding the best ways against the problem. Part of the fun is finding ways to overcome the problem, because as you say; it takes the fun away when its a favorable match, especially if its orchestrated by yourself.
I personally never auto-concede on Std ranked ladder, because well, for your rank it's obviously bad (The sole exception being at one of the rank floors and having lost your previous game). Every game you lose instead of winning requires a net of 2 more wins to get in a similar position again, which often is 10-20 more games even with a decent win rate. So why not give even the worst match-up a go for a few turns? Even in heavily unfavored matchups you often still have a 25% chance of winning if you draw the nuts or your opponent draws dead. (I do concede during the game if I am absolutely convinced that I can't win, to save time and move on.)
But if you don't care at all about your rank or play non-ranked, then there is definitely a case for it. You play for fun after all... for me, the fun in ranked std is to play my best and see how far I get, no matter how much I like/dislike my opponent's deck. But I play funky decks on wild ladder every now and then. There I auto-concede against Priest (sorry to the 3 people out there who look for a fun game with priest and don't play Rez/Raza).
I've been playing this game since beta off and on and this is something I've seen other people do that I have never done. They play a deck, know it's bad against a certain class, or only good against certain classes and just keep conceding until they get the matchup they want.
This is something I have never really liked the idea of doing, but now I am considering doing it. The whole thing just seemed like a waste of time and effort because if you know you're going into a favorable matchup it kinda takes the fun out of it ya know? But this expansion is really testing my patience for not doing it.
Rogue and mage have always been my least favorite classes to play against ever since the inception of "discover". I am a naturally unlucky person. So I like to cover all my bases and hedge my bets the best I can to where if I'm unlucky I can continue moving this is for games and in life. But every class I am facing is either rogue or mage and there is too much random for me to hedge against.
Yes, I feel some people are playing wild right now because most of their standar decks rotated and don't want to / can't build new ones (more don't want to than can't because the core set). Been playing a similar deck but way less optimized. It is nice beating Raza Priest with your own machinegun.
Edit: Are you using Maiev on your own coldara drake? If so... Wow, that is a nice idea. Did not think about the possibility
I'm tired of watch posts already. I cant believe something has made me actually miss lackey shit. Inb4
"Just remove the 2 mana 2/4 on turn 2 lol"
Now aggro gets more just play shit cards that are good in any scenario that punish your opponent for playing the game lol. At least with lackeys you had a chance your opponent would get a lackey that did nothing, a slim chance but it was there. They played a 2/4 on turn two so now everything your play from then until you remove it makes you lose tempo and the game. Whoever thought this was good game design should try a class other than rogue, and mage and be reminded that cards for other classes actually cost mana.
I was just dipping back into the Hearthstone water a bit and ran into this absurdly busted garbage - peace out from me again. I don't need this crap in my life lol.
How the heck did they think it was going to turn out when they introduced mana replenishment into this game, in the form of a turn 4 draw 2 spells for free and then do other things still, in a class that has absolutely no problem just going full spells?
Imagine if this card had existed when Spell Hunter was a thing, and they had put in hunter instead? Utterly broken.
Same thing with Secret Passage in Rogue as well - 1-mana draw 4 ... OK, sure, that's completely fine, no problems at all. All they have to do is wait until turn 6 to play it, and they will be able to use basically everything they draw ... and then get back all the cards they set aside.
Yeah, this kind of shenanigans was why I stopped playing in the first place. And it's clearly only gotten way worse than it was before.
It's 100% sure that Deck of Lunacy will get nerfed cause not only it does define the meta but also it makes the dumbest games making any strategy and skill irrelevant. It's supposed to be tier 3 or 2.5 not tier 1.
Problem is that whatever their cost, most spells currently available are good. So I see no other option than (granted they don't decide to add a bunch a stupid/situational spells out of the blue) raising the cost drastically.
From my experience, the win rate becomes reasonable if it's played at tunr 5 or later. So I'd make it cost 5 mana to be sure :)
It is not related to this topic, but I just noticed that the golden cards granted by the reward track are not disenchantable. What's the meaning of this? Basically I'm earning exp for nothing =(
Sense of accomplishment.
I personally would prefer gold or packs, but hey! I guess it's a subjective thing.
Its likely going to suffer a cost increase since no matter how you nerf the effect all it does is just move the initial card choices a little to get the desired card from Deck of Lunacy rng.
My prediction is that Deck of Lunacy goes from 2 to 4, making it more susceptible to both burn and other decks that actually play minions. Refreshing Spring Water might either get nerfed to 5 mana, or effect refreshes only 1 mana. Team5 would then unnerf those cards later, when the rng effects are more varied.
You could make Refreshing Spring Water similar to Lunar Visions in cost and just make it (5). Worse than Arcane Intellect if no spells, even if 1, better if 2.
If you want to make them hate existence itself you can just play Face Hunter.
I haven't lost to a single one so far, not even against one that played two Librams of Hope in a row (although I did highroll him at 1 health with Quickshot into Quickshot into Piecring Shot, but that's what the highrolling fucker deserved)
Autoconceeding.

No Time for Games? Fastest Aggro Decks for Hearthstone's Classic Format

Do you autoconcede? Why?
Barrens Even Mage
Not really. I didn't think of it either, but it requires turn 10 and unlocks on turn 12, which is typically too late.
Dragon on turn 10 usually means 8-12 damage on its own, and it should be enough if things went as they should.
But admittedly the combo with Maiev prepares an inevitable otk-ish. It might be worth it against slower decks!
Barrens Even Mage
