not really, just watched the reveal video killing your own units counts so he is They Who Endure but BETTER damn.. didn't they nerfed that card? and now they just release a champion that does the same thing but BETTER?
I think it is fine that some of the quests want you to play a specific mode. You get 3 quests and 7 chances to re-roll them, which makes it very easy to avoid doing any quests you don't want.
As I already pointed out, it is not "very easy." The pool of weekly quests is extremely small -- there are only nine of them if you don't count the permanent Ranked quest. Three of the nine have to do with Battlegrounds and/or other modes. That means every time you reroll, you have a 25% chance to get another Battlegrounds quest, and there's no failsafe in place to keep you from getting a quest you abandoned earlier in the week. So a string of slightly bad luck can leave you having to finish the entire weekly quest in just a few days.
The main point that I was trying to make is that you can choose to opt out of a weekly quest via the skip button. It can be inconvenient when you run into a quest you don't want multiple times in a row, but in my personal opinion I don't think we need extra skips just to make it easier to avoid quests we don't like. Every quest "forces" you to do something in order to complete it, I don't get why we would handle certain quests differently just because some players dislike the objective of some quests more than others.
is "slay ANY unit that died or that a card that YOU control deal damage to it first?
cause if not shadow isles is a bit weak to nasus since they kill their own units.. (I am guessing it's the later)
I thought nasus would scale early but I guess he just scales in hand that's better for him tbh I really like how they implemented him it reflects his league game play a lot.
What we're talking about are golden copies of the former Basic cards. That should be the group of cards that could net quite some dust for the majority of players IF it is possible to disenchant them. Which I strongly doubt to be honest.
These will get the same treatment as other Basic cards that went to HoF, such as Mind Blast. They will become Common cards and can be DE for normal values. I don’t know specifically where it was stated. Maybe in one of Dean’s recent Twitter Q&A’s. But again, when any previous Basic cards went to Wild they got Common gems and I DE’d the golden versions!
Also, the article announcing the Core set on the HS site states that if you have Wild unlocked at the time of rotation you will get all Basic cards and their golden versions. So if you were thinking of starting a new alt account, or have a friend thinking of starting their first, do it now before rotation to get a bunch of free Wild cards/dust. It’s in the second paragraph of the Introducing the Core Set section.
I was forcing DH games to try and get the last couple golden basic cards but after I noticed that line in the article I think I can relax and just play whatever I want, as I’ll get them anyway.
To get onto the actual topic, I actually think both sides of the argument have merit in terms of the Core set being a money saver or not. To FortyDust’s original point, this isn’t really a money saving move for players who play all formats, or at least it’s not a huge money saver!
Considering the points made by others, it does mean getting more relevant packs from Brawls, which can help a little for obtaining newer cards. And to my own point, even just dusting the golden Basic cards gets a decent amount of dust, which means you could potentially skip opening quite a few packs while getting the cards you want. But the dust is a one-time savings, maybe two depending on how many of it you spend in an expansion.
Ultimately, I think the largest impact on wallets will be seen by newer players, followed by players who only play Standard. For newer players, they’ll suddenly have a full Core set of cards that should actually matter. For long tome Standard only players, you’ve boosted your dust reserves by a very large amount!
For a player like me who plays Wild, Standard, and soon Classic, the savings is mainly a smaller dust boost from the golden basics and non-Classic Brawl rewards, which Is minimal in comparison to New and Standard only players. Which I think is what Forty was really trying to say.
@PopeNeia - You're right to highlight that Priests have gone more in the value direction with generating and discounting spells, so it's only fair that someone else takes up the heavy control mantle. I started running Freezing Trap in my control hunter decks this expansion mainly to combat Paladins, but a nice side-effect has been slowing down Envoy Rustwix shenanigans. But now that you mention it, maybe I'll sub in Vol'jin for some Tickatus disruption!
@iWatchUSleep - You're definitely right that Warlock still has the Zoo build with discounted 8/8s and I'm glad they haven't lost that identity. The few times I remember aggro (deathrattle?) Priests being viable it wasn't too fun, haha. And that's a good point about Warlock having an actual win condition as opposed to rolling the dice on stealing a minion or copying cards from the opponent's deck or something like that.
@clawz161 - Yeah, this is one of those nerfs where it makes less sense later down the line when the really problematic stuff has rotated (Even Paladin/Holy Wrath Pally and then not wanting to make it 3-cost to help Odd Pally).
@AngryShuckie - Yup, you're absolutely right about power creep at the end of a HS year. I sometimes find myself getting frustrated that some meme I've been working on gets a big boost in the last expansion of the year, only for it to be outclassed by even stronger boosts to meta archetypes. But then I remember that the only reason my meme got a boost was because the overall powerlevel was raised, so I go back to tanking my MMR with Quest Kael'thas Yogg Clown Hunter ;D
I think you've largely side-stepped my point about sunk cost by saying that the value of these Classic cards has decreased. That's entirely true, but has nothing to do with the sunk cost fallacy. The sunk cost fallacy is treating the value of a veteran player's full set of Classic cards as a relevant input for the decision to spend money on Hearthstone expansions simply because they've spent resources (money, time, etc.) on getting it.
But I never said anything about decisions to buy more cards, so sunk cost is 100 percent beside the point. You're building straw man after straw man. It's better if you respond to my actual comments, not these anticipated counterarguments you keep concocting.
My only point here is that veteran players gain no immediate financial benefit from the introduction of a Core set. Several writers have stated or implied that they will, and that is incorrect. if you don't want to talk about that, please make your own thread.
As for the theory that the game might seem less expensive because Core cards will make up a larger proportion of any given deck, that is pure speculation, and very dubious at that. Expansion cards always have been and always will be stronger than base cards, and it is in Blizzard's best interest to continue that trend. If you're hoping to see a bunch of budget decks at the top of the tier list, I suspect you'll be disappointed.
I think this is an issue that team 5 will inevitably have to address if they seek to make Hearthstone a platform of various game modes. I imagine that the addition of more major game modes (like the upcoming mercenaries game modes) could further dilute the weekly quest pool in future updates. Granted, this discussion is about the current weekly quests, not hypothetical future quests, so I won't digress.
With the current UI, perhaps they could implement a guarantee that rerolling a Battlegrounds and/or other modes quest will give a standard quest and vice versa? That way, rolling for quests that apply to the game modes you like would be easier to get. There are some flaws though: if you're stuck with a quest of your preferred game mode that you dislike (I'm looking at you "Play 30 Corrupt Cards"), you'd have to reroll twice to get another quest of your preferred game mode. It's not a perfect solution, but I do think its upsides could help players who prefer specific game modes.
I played a bunch of this shuffle rogue stuff at the start of Darkmoon. The archetype seems this close (makes finger gesture with the index and thumb 3/8" apart). Ticket master as a deathrattle and not a battle cry kinda hurts. I did, however, get the Shekzara achievement, so I got that going for me, which is nice.
If i didnt know better i could be under the impression that my classic cards are gonna be removed. Which they aren't cause Wild is still a game mode and a fun one sometimes.
So i keep my classic cards while receiving a whole new set for free. Now thats profit

What about Grand Plaza? It gives all those units that care about Challenger the tools they need for the rest of the game.
