I just hit level 25. Got the Totem... The frigging Totem... So i got nothing on level 25 as i have no use and no interest in this card. Getting legendaries completely at random like this is starting to feel terrible because i'm already used to the Wild Cards and freedom of choice in Legends of Runeterra.
The devs really should think about just giving us arcane dust as a reward instead of a random legendary. It would've been better if the level 25 reward was 2,000 dust or something, so players can be free to craft whatever they want, whether they be one legendary and an epic, four epics, etc. I got Deck of Chaos from level 25 which is just terrible (threw it in my Cubelock deck for Wild where it's still a terrible inclusion).
In fact, the level rewards should be much more diverse and generous like the old legendary quests we used to have. Remember quests that reward us with a pack, dust, and gold at the same time? Getting a single pack at level 28, an AOO one that just gave me 40 dust, is really depressing.
I feel you on Grand Totem Eys'or. If you'd gotten it earlier maybe you'd have enjoyed it more, since it was really dominant in the first week. I got it from a golden pack, so I can dust it whenever I want :P
I agree. It's such a simple solution. Just give us some freedom of choice. Let us decide what we want and if it end up sucking later then it wouldn't be their fault as it was our own choice. A risk we took when choosing our cards. The way it is right now alongside the absolutely terrible value for disenchanting just causes a lot of players with a limited collection to lose a lot. A random legendary only matters for completionists and people who invest a lot and can play with any class.
Who cares if in the long term some players are getting slightly more gold?
The system feels much worse, you can't complete quests in tavern brawls some quests force you into some modes/actions (ranked/arena also playing old gods), some rewards are still old expansion packs.
Packs still feel bad to open, the dust system still sucks, the game is still expensive AF, and feel very grindy.
The new system should've be a CLEAR IMPROVEMENT over the old one.. which it's not.
I'm thinking much the same as you, although there was one time when I was trying to get an achievement so I wasn't attacking the opponent, and then they turned up on turn 6. Maybe that person was exploiting the system 'honestly' by just starting games and going AFK for them, hopping back every so often to start a new game.
On the bright side, I think you do still get a bit more XP for wins. One day Blizz might tell us how much more...
All I want from christmas is for Team 5 to revert the buff to Aldor Attendant. I really don't mind Pure Paladin as you can have tech cards like Bad Luck Albatross but I'm really getting over the infinite librams
I was lucky to hit LVL 35 with the Mondays Daily quest, so I´ve managed to finish all the three of my Weeklies with 20% boost, which instantly gave me another LVL. With todays Daily quest I´ve hit exactly LVL 37. Now I need to wait few more days to get another 5800 XP for the next LVL.
P.S. I play mostly Casual Duels for the achievements, and the last days was playing on Ranked trying to push for Legend. Play few hours a day, quite a lot during weekends.
I play mostly casual, but play fairly well, so I play a lot of good players because of my MMR. Out of the last five games I played, three of my opponents we running a legend card back. That, in itself, isn't too unusual. Like I said, i usually get matched up with experienced players. But the unusual thing is that, in all three of the games against the people running legend card backs, each a different player, my opponent didn't play a card. Sure, this happens occasionally, but three out of five games?
I was wondering if this could be due to bots. When the new reward system came into effect, the first thing that I wondered was whether we would see bots playing games for XP. Since you get XP for time played, a bot wouldn't really have to do anything besides just start a game, without even really having to play any cards, and then just start another game when the game is over. With the New system, this would be a way of getting 150 levels of XP without doing anything at all.
I don't know if bots are an issue, or if they will become an issue, or how good Blizzard is at detecting them and imposing bans, but it makes me wonder. I've never had so many people, even outside of those few games, just rope without playing a card. I'm wondering about bots because I just can't see where someone would manually do this type of thing, since the time you would be wasting would be the same amount of time spent if you were actually playing, since XP rewards are based on time played rather than outcomes.
Apart from that, it's a little bit frustrating. Like i said, you get the same XP per the amount of time spent playing the game, so I'd rather just be playing, instead of watching the rope turn after turn, especially since the win gives me nothing in particular.
For those interested in Bunnyhopper's work (https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srg57g) on the new system. Here's what I can summarize; (check it out. Its a worthwhile read)
- He made two assumptions, where 1 hour of gameplay will yield 400xp or 350xp (as it has been reported that waiting times don't add in to the xp gained). He concluded that if we assume a rate of 400xp per hour then at 2 hours and above it will pay out slightly (which is enough to win the argument anyway) above the old system, again assuming that we get 12.5 gold per hour in the old system (quests + 57% win rate)
The assumption is of course, just an assumption. I don't believe that 400xp per hour (as claimed by devs) is actually factual, since its clear that waiting times aren't technically gameplay. Also, there's been rumblings about that wins gets you more xp than losses. I can't confirm that naturally.
- Another thing from his analysis, is that in both his hourly xp gain assumptions, players playing less than 2 hours a day (most of us have to contend with family, work, and other games in our lives) will not be gaining from the new system.
- He has advised that we keep track of our hourly xp rate for a better picture. I do agree. Would of course be easier if blizz just have every match xp shown when the match ends, but we just can't have nice things can we?
There's just so much opaque about how this works exactly. Sums up what I really think about the new progressions system in general.
I reckon this competition is more broad, so I decided to reuse the concept I initially wanted to use for the previous one, but postponed it due to recommendations of saving such cool design for another time. FYI, a cryptic treasure is either Aegis of Death/Zephrys's Lamp, Crawling Claw/Canopic Jars or Stone Fox Statue/Staff of Scales. Can't exactly decide which to include, especially since I removed the tutoring effect, which gave me more design space for Tombs of Terror treasures to include.
This is my take on the achievement "No Pathetic Cards", which requires to kill the opponent with C'Thun the Shattered from full health. I tried the Druid Combo version, but that was too convoluted. The Shaman version worked on my 3rd try. The idea is to stall the game with removal spells and Stickyfinger. Once C'Thun is in your deck, draw him with Jepetto to get a 1mana C'Thun. Next turn you have 9 mana to deal with the board and heal the opponent with Witch's Brew. Good luck!
Did you notice the voting numbers of this competition? I think I've submitted on Thursday and I only got 27 votes (no complaining here, that's almost the same number linkblade got). I remember Demon was among the first submissions, they got 52 votes. Both numbers are quite low I think. Has Darkmoon Faire drawn so much attention? Is participation going down in general?
Well no. The problem is the cost of the hero power. Raza Priest was not a tier 1 deck for many months when Raza got nerfed.
If the cost of the hero power is truly the problem, tell me any priest hero power that would be broken costing 0 mana that isn't Shadowreaper Anduin's HP. Because as far as I can tell Raza was absolutely dead while nerfed.
I'd prefer they deal with Anduin (make it deal less damage, let it not target face; whatever) and allow raza to at least combine with something like galakrond.
Maybe I'm nuts but I could really go for some changes to Paladin, specifically Pure Paladin. I feel like it has way too much value generation for a deck that is very much NOT a control deck. It applies pressure the entire time and yet still seems to never run out of fuel.
Rewards Track: Current progress

Yeah Bad Luck Albatross should get a buff so it is again viable to play for something like Reno decks.

Huh? I'm saying Anduin hero power is fine as long as it doesn't cost 0 mana.

Agreed. I can't believe they gave DH a cheaper duskbreaker with an easier condition to meet.
It's really is annoying how DH in general have access to way too many things. Soul DH is just not interactable for most of the game.

Man you really must hate those cards a great deal. Especially Palm Reading, of which in your proposed nerf might as well just erase it from existence.

Not uncounterable has never been a reason to not nerf cards from a deck. If you run specific cards against it, yes, every deck is counterable.

Reno priest is far from unconterable. I've got a winrate about 70% with renolock against them.
There are so many ways it can be countered I don't know why everyone is still crying for nerfs all the time.
