  • Shudderwock game breaking bug

Aight so I don't know why this is happening, but I was playing against my friend just to test the new cards before probably leaving the game forever and as a last desert, this happens. . . I was trying a crazy double yogg, cthun shudderwock deck with grumble and all that other stuff that's needed. My friend is on mobile and I'm in pc. When I played shudder after I've played all the key cards, the game stopped and my friend disconnected. He is now telling me his game is in an endless loop that it tries to reconnect, fails and over and over. I thought it's funny until I tried to close the game myself. And I close the game, battlenet and that stuff even with task manager, but when I open the game again it goes straight to that match and it waits for my friend to reconnect.

It's an endless loop and a new bug record for blizz. Anyways, I should not have posted this but thought it is something important. I can update you all with new screenshots later if you want. Now its 12 min waiting lol

Edit, dont know how to upload image    https://ibb.co/5980Lq4

It's a 0.8 over the old system right now with the "improvements".

Yeah that's horendous HS already is one of the most expensive digital games.

I'm not sure about past events giving extra gold. Most event quests under the old system gave packs I think. But none of the comparisons took events from the old system into account either.

Midsummer Fire Festival 2017-2019 awarded double gold, some other like Taverns of time awarded gold and same amount of dus

  • Blizzard Screwed Up With the Rewards Track - A Letter to Hearthstone

You had 8 months between first and second expansion. 10k gold was totally achievable.

  • New Neutral Minion - C'Thun, the Shattered

Bro tip. Don't run your deck having this guy as a win condition. In three plays I destroyed the hope of my rival with one Counterspell after the other.

I mean, you are asking for some math to the same person that did 2020 - 2014 = 8

(not hating, i just found it funny; i know it's just a small miscalculation)

  • Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Launch Survival Guide - Everything You Need to Know & Day 1 Decks to Try

Confused. Opened like 20 packs and got the achievement "Collect all 10 Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Demon Hunter Cards". The page here in OOC shows there are 15 Demon Hunter cards in the expansion? What is going on?

PS: I didn't get any DH legendary

  • Blizzard Screwed Up With the Rewards Track - A Letter to Hearthstone

I didn't disenchant any wild card it seemed like a really bad value anyway and too much effort to do, if a legendary from the selected wild set.. let's say N'zoth (I have him but that's an example) is really good and meta on a specific class (like hunter or priest), it would feel really bad to craft a wild legendary.. again 1600 dust.. and what would a new player do?

I wanted  to play duels actually but I got disheartened by the unlocking process I still don't understand why the unlocking of treasures and hero powers isn't related directly to the mode or linked to it's achievements.. something like "resurrect 50 minions" for paladin or "heal 70 units for priest"

HS improved but a the same time they also made the game more expensive and there are things in place for years which they are not changing..

for example.. classic pack in tavern brawl, I had 30 unopened classic packs something like that cause I completed the set (only after 6 years!), the 10 gold per 3 wins .. was really bad (better than the current system which is saying A LOT).

the ratio of 40 dust packs.. that's the minimum.. it can also be not the most common....?

I got around 7 packs yesterday from the duels promotion.. 4 of them were 40 dust.......

I think regis said on the last 3 minutes of his video the most painful thing about HS, the game is fun interesting and have good moments but you can't bring friends!!! cause they don't keep up with the game.. I used to have a lot of my friends playing HS now.. nope the friend list is empty.........

I opened 77 packs and i got 6 legendary cards. Grand Empress Shek'zara (golden), Tenwu of the Red Smoke, C'Thun, the Shattered, Y'Shaarj, the Defiler, E.T.C., God of Metal and Zai, the Incredible. I also got Il'gynoth from the preorder and Tickatus from the reward track.

  • Hearthstone's Game Director Responds to the Rewards Track

Not gonna downvote you. I agree that a lot of the reaction is overblown. I still think this is a legitimate problem, though. (As far as recent F2P blow-ups do, I’d say this is worse than Runeterra mixing a pop band into their world, but not as bad as Magic’s Walking Dead set or Clash Royale’s Clan Wars overhaul.)

I’m curious if you have a good-faith calculation that shows this system being an improvement. I’ve only made vague estimates myself, but they came out to “about the same, if you look at it right”, and they were assuming we’d get the usual free legendary and packs when the expansion launched.

  • Blizzard Screwed Up With the Rewards Track - A Letter to Hearthstone

Thanks for the post. I mostly share your opinion. I would like to point out one thing though. This is no communication blunder or general mishap. This is a calculated move from start to finish. Blizzard is testing out how far they can go. The entire timing and process clearly points towards intention from their side. And this is what annoys me most. I have the impression they try to take us for fools.

Another point is that HS has become way too expensive. 100 bucks or more every four months and then not even getting the whole set is pretty ridiculous. I understand they need to maximize sales. But I think it is hurting the game, driving away players and ultimately even diminshing their profits. Why? Maximizing sales does not mean hiking prices as at a lower price point you appeal to more customers. I think HS is beyond that point, they very likely could make more sales at a lower price point. Working in business myself I know that price cuts are very difficult to sell to management, they rather hike prices to make a short-term gain than thinking about what is best for the medium- to long-term. I speculate that this is the core of the problem here too. People joke about Bobby Kotick having to buy another sports car, but I think this is closer to the reality than people would think.

  • Wheel of Yogg-Saron bug? (while playing Duels)

Simple as that: I wanted to test the new Yogg while playing Duels. Made a deck full of spells, played 10 of them, played Yogg and... nothing happened! Where was not even the wheel "effect" on screen.

    Anyone knowing what's going on?

  • Hearthstone's Game Director Responds to the Rewards Track

Yes, they’ve said that. And I kept defending Blizzard on this site because I believed them. But I realize now that I was wrong.

I’m not sure how I was arguing in bad faith. Most calculations to date haven’t accounted for the fact that we could expect several extra packs thanks to events. If they’re supposed to account for events, they should remember what we used to get from events instead of just adding in what they will give in the future.

The spoiling of results is hilarious.

I knew I opened a Warrior legendary when I got the warrior achievement for opening up 10 unique cards from DMF which was super lame.

Descriptions definitely need to be added to the toasts.

Right now, before they make any changes, there is less gold earned for most players. However, I doubt if you were making 10k gold before you'd only make 3600 now (would love to see the math on that).

And this is why the majority of the time I preface datamined info with "this may change etc." It is so important to cover your ass when you're going to be the source of something important and you know people are going to mangle it.

But, there are times, such as the XP with the rewards track, when I didn't bother with a disclaimer at the content of it itself because it was easily verifiable as true in the game. I do think some more care could have been taken to address that there were going to be other sources of experience, because it is quite clear people forgot about that, but I don't think in this case it would have calmed any of the rage.

I do love that I still get comments about Celeste. I especially love it when they are in the realm of "that was a bunch of bs". It shows even a proper disclaimer doesn't go very far with people and the general understanding that should exist of "stuff can be in a game client for a long time without a release" clearly doesn't.

I love datamining though and giving everyone insight into what's going on with the game that they aren't telling us about.

  • Hearthstone's Game Director Responds to the Rewards Track

The entire letter from Ben might as well be shorted to: "We're going to change the last 6 packs to 1350 gold. Happy? Now can we please put all the torches and pitchforks down."

The lack of communication was obvious. It took all the way to start of Darkmoon to even so much acknowledge it. This is a good start, but more transparency and communication is needed.

Don't put too much weight in what was said about the bonus xp on seasonal events. This part might as well not exist in his letter. Its almost certainly inserted there just to put a more positive spin as we read on. Bonuses during seasonal events are hardly new, and have been dwindling in recent expansions, from the extremely generous double gold about 2 years back to the recent norm of just straight up packs (and frequently from previous expansions as well). Since we don't know when it will happen, or how generous it would be, its might as well just be described and treated as a 'maybe', and only if we behave and finish up all our vegetables.

The usual 6 packs via legendary quests at the start of the expansion is apparently no longer a thing. So that's yet another convention taken down in the name of progression.

The changes, though welcomed (like who the hell wants a YotDragon pack at level 47 when it will likely rotate in about a few weeks time), will hardly soothe anything until the numbers are crunched again. My take is that it will likely still be short by about 800-1000 gold compared to the old system, and the midexpansion will likely take a chomp at the wallet as well. Wouldn't surprise me if that the total gold I would be able to bring to the next expansion after Darkmoon would be around 5k gold, if that.

    I don't like the idea of a Hearthstone 2.

I know some people don't mean a literal Hearthstone 2, and they certainly mean well when talking about it, but the way I see it, we're already past HS 2.

The base of Hearthstone was a very simple game. We had standard, we had the forge, and we had a couple of card sets. Each time new features have been added to the game, it kept going farther away from the base. At this point, we must at least be on HS 4.

A new client is not needed and would be the largest waste of engineering time, time that could be better spent adding new features. Unity is an excellent platform to develop on and Blizzard has improved their tooling a ton over the years for it. If there are bugs, they need to fix the bugs, not create more by developing a new client. Performance problems? They are continuing to optimize the game which is great to see, though maybe not quite quickly enough for everyone's taste.

It would be a poor choice to scrap the interface. They do need to update parts of it (like the main screen only having 4 buttons to access all the content in the game, but for the most part, we're really lucky to have what we have since the HS team is generally good at UI/UX.

This expansion and the goodies that came with it was definitely a step into a new era of Hearthstone and I like it.
