  • Riot's RubinZoo Discusses Recent Runeterra Card Changes, Card Balance, Design Process, and More

It would be nice if you could explain your idea of fun.

It is hard to agree with this sort of comments if you don't explain what your idea of fun is.

  • Hearthstone's Game Director Responds to the Rewards Track

Well the only way to know if the seasonal events made a big enough difference is to look back at them after the expansion. I doubt they'll want to be in a position--after all this and after assuring us that events will make up the difference--where people that can do math (aka not 90% of Reddit) have crunched the numbers and found that some players are still short of where they would be. Not sure why you think them saying that events will fill the gap means nothing. It's a very concrete assurance that will be proven out one way or another.

  • Hearthstone's Game Director Responds to the Rewards Track

You want a revolution? Drastic changes that make the game much less expensive? Those are high hopes. This seems like more than a bandaid to me. The system was already giving about equal value as before to everyone but F2P/aggro gold farmers. Now they're replacing 6 packs of dust with 1350 gold (6x225) and promising to give us extra experience through events that will boost gold income above what we previously got. I want the game to be a lot cheaper too but they're improving the rewards system and giving us what we're asking for.

  • Blizzard Screwed Up With the Rewards Track - A Letter to Hearthstone

Good post. You write well, and you are sensible in what you write.

What I think would be really great in this situation is if someone has a little bit of data from previous hearthstone years. Anyone kept a spreadsheet that contains how much stuff was given out in events, quests, and other ways?

This could be kind of cross checked to make a rough estimate of how much XP future events has to give to even reach par, let alone be better than before. I have a feeling, from looking at the various calculations, that it needs to be a lot. But having some data is much better than a feeling.

  • Pack Opening Results

After years of average-ish pack openings, it was my turn to get lucky this time!

67 packs opened (F2P) and 2 golden (Yogg! and the Nameless One) and 5 regular legendaries (C'thun, Greybough, Deck of Lunacy, Grand Totem, High Exarch Yrel) - not too shabby! More so because they all seem either decent or fun/interesting, at least to me.

To everyone less fortunate: I know how you feel and hope that you'll have my luck next time.

  • Question about achievements

Does anybody knows if it is possible to do the specific MDF achievements with friends?

Those which give you Xp points, i mean.

    Thanks!

  • Pack Opening Results

First pack got Tenwu of the Red Smoke, working on grinding through the Arena rn, but I crafted Y’shaarj for the quest OTK deck.

  • Save your class packs for even more Madness!

Hey guys, just to close the loop here. I can confirm the mage and hunter class card packs did give me commons/rares from DM Faire, even more madness achieved! :D

  • Pack Opening Results

58 packs on launch day (no pre-order), only two legendaries (Yogg and The Nameless One) opened. On the other hand, one of them was YOGG and I got a decent amount of 14 epics.

Before the Darkmoons packs I opened my Hunter and Mage packs from the Book of Heroes, one of each. Surprisingly the Hunter pack included Unseal the Vault (and  a useless RoS epic). A fun card I have considered crafting, too bad it rotates soon.

  • K/DA Completion

    Staff

Will easily reach the maximum by just playing a couple of games per day (not that it matters since I don't have the pass). I always grind the questlines against AI early on as I don't want to risk getting stuck on some quests too long, but other than that I didn't really need to push for it. The repeatable quest helps a lot.

  • K/DA Completion

I am close to the card back, didn't complete the Seraphine last quest though also I don't have the pass so I just need to get until there anyway.

I need to play ranked and stop spamming bots like the casual I am :D

Edit: 219/240 for card back, 6 days left, got a 10 hearts quest.. so just complete that quest and complete the repetable quest 2 more times

  • K/DA Completion

I hit my 260/260 hearts today to finish my K/DA rewards. Honestly, I was a little worried at first, but it ended up being not even close -- I have over a week to go and I'm only 9:9 on the epic quest and still had some of the diva-specific 2:2 quests when I completed. I didn't do much to "grind" beyond playing daily for a minimum of 3 games/day and picking certain decks based on my active quests -- not much different from my normal schedule to be honest.

How is everyone else fairing? Anyone worried they won't complete as much as they want by Nov 24?

It's a 0.8 over the old system right now with the "improvements".

Thats for how things were with the past expansion. When you factor in the mid-season set, relatively speaking we'll be behind a fair bit.

That's without even knowing what kinds of cards we'll get. If there is a decent number of epics and legendaries in that set, a good chunk of the player base is just screwed.

    Quote From Thraxus

This is no communication blunder or general mishap. This is a calculated move from start to finish. Blizzard is testing out how far they can go. The entire timing and process clearly points towards intention from their side.

This is very much a good read of the situation.

One thing that a lot of people overlook are the lies that were made both before and even with the recent response. For instance Ben spoke of us earning more gold as their intent when it was very clear from the language of several Blizzard employees that the gold we'd get would be about equivalent to the old system.

Another likely lie is that it was always their intent to offer bonus XP. However, if that were true, this whole debacle could have been nipped in the bud with us knowing about bonus XP from Day 1. It seems pretty clear that bonus XP was never their original intent but instead something that they made up within the past few days as a response to the community's backlash.

These sorts of moves by companies are almost never accidents or missteps. The exact same sequence of events have occurred with so many battle pass/economy changes with many other games e.g. Apex and Fallout 76.

This is why the community shouldn't just be content with being "listened" to and accept meagre changes. I'm glad to see that the community on both Reddit and the official Forums haven't relent and I hope we're no different here.

  • Blizzard Screwed Up With the Rewards Track - A Letter to Hearthstone

Thanks for making this post but I really wish you spoke out in the beginning when it would have mattered and not when it was safe to do so after a bunch of more prominent people on Youtube and Twitter thought it finally acceptable to do so.

Absolutely not saying that it's your intention but to me this reads somewhat insincere since you had the same info that we had and sat on it until other people decided to speak out.

Better late than never at least. That's something :)

Second try here, tried to use the "endlessly corruption" thing, I am afriad that this design is too complex. I will modifi my first design and give out some feedback later tomorrow.

The Corrupted version breaks an unwritten rule of Hearthstone that cards cannot have 5 lines of text.

Despite the fact that Killmox, the Banished One was added in this patch, the card also has extremely bad wording (as most of the Duels gamemode does) and could easily be shortened, as well as the fact that cards not available for Constructed are sometimes weird with wording, and thus shouldn't always be taken as a viable precedent. It is also a rule that many people will stick to anyway, so for the sake of your own score, it should be avoided at all times.

Thank you for the article its good the see your site is becoming a sound of the community too.

I’m playing since 2015 this is the first expansion i didnt interested because of this system.
Why they are prefer to mess up have a chance to optimize and win the more people if its a tottally marketimg strategy its not worked sorry.

At the end I’m very sad all the time/money I spend this game...

Here's what I have so far:

The murloc can help out the meneragie decks in the new expansion as well as providing some backwards compatability with The Curator.  Also is a murloc for N'Zoth, God of the Deep.

The mech looked like a cool demon hunter minion, so I tried to find a good design for it that called back to Fel Reaver in some way.  It was going to be a 7 mana 8/8 at first but it was too difficult to activate the corrupt ability that way.
