  • Jim Raynor & More Heroes of StarCraft Card Reveals for January 14 - Day 2

Hey all, I'm aware our threads aren't working for the new mini-set. I'm currently diving into the issue and hope to have it resolved before the next reveals in 2 hours.

  • Starcraft Comes to Hearthstone on January 21st in The Great Dark Beyond Mini-Set: Heroes of StarCraft!

Fair point - I might've thought of that had I still played the game lol. Then again, Blizzard could've foreseen it and played around with who got Starships when, but all well.

Perhaps its just me but the card art of the starcraft cards so far...are a bit underwhelming. They look so standard, like tesla's cybertrucks. Kinda a bit lacking in action, like the deployed siege tanks dont catch its personality in the games. Perhaps its what happens when you shoehorn the usual hearthstone disney graphics on something thats supposed to look cool by default.

As for the cards themselves, its anyone's guess whether these will change anything. The starship gameplan have failed spectacularly so far, so this doubling down doesnt impress me as much yet. We'll see if they can work up into anything proper. At least the zerg and protoss look better, swarming and discounts usually work out someway or somehow.

... or any space/turn-based game you enjoy (that is not Baldur's gate lol).

Curious to find out about any hidden gems out there.

If it helps, I did review some demos from Steam's Outer Space Fest about 4 months ago. Only Dark Sky was turn-based, though; there's also a review around here somewhere of the demo for Dimensionals, which is sorta what you might be looking for. I enjoyed Everspace 2 a lot, but it's not turn-based.

For something that is both turn-based and space-themed, but not reviewed by me, I can point you towards Endless Space, or the sequel!

Thanks for the links! I do know about endless space and distant worlds, but my play time is very limited :(

Anyway, they don't have to be both space and turn-based, but either-or. Or any strategic/rpg game overall, (without anime graphics if possible).

I do have some games in the wishlist, so maybe something fits what you like for a review, too: Songs of Syx, Silence of the Siren, Soulash 2, Stranded Alien dawn, Stardeus.

Can't. Terran's whole gimmick is Starships, and Rogue already has a Starship theme from the main set.

You are correct in your guess - they also updated the Mean Streets tri-class cards to have this little sticker-thingy:

I personally would have made Paladin a Protoss class - Divine Shield fits perfectly with their energy shields, and I always considered Artanis a Paladin. Swap it with Rogue (for Ghosts and the like), and it would be much better in my opinion. I guess we'll see how they handle them!

  • Starcraft Comes to Hearthstone on January 21st in The Great Dark Beyond Mini-Set: Heroes of StarCraft!

I'm guessing that only the neutral cards with the little swirly sticker are multiclass, and the banner denotes their faction for related effects on the class cards. I remember Blizzard hinting at adding ways for a card to have both Tradeable and Forge (or any other two-banner mechanic), so I wonder if that's related.

    Hell, it's about time.

Everyone has been asking for Heroes of StarCraft since the whole "Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft" announcement over 10 years ago. After we were teased about this last year during the 30th anniversary event for Warcraft, it's very cool to finally see cards for it.

That's very kind and considerate of you, but definitely unnecesseary. You do what's best and most fun for you first and foremost and if that happens to corelate with my interests, we'll call it a happy bonus.

I wish you a quick and full recovery and the best possible results for the biopsy! Glasses sound like the lesser problem in the grand scheme of things but surely are quite a pain in day-to-day life. Fingers crossed for a quick solution on that front as well - ideally not out of your pocket, as I seem to remember someone else caused the situation that broke them.

  • What Should I Review Next?

I must apologize to you, anchorm4n: I (sorta) went back on what I said and started Lies of P. Between the breaking of my glasses and the liver biopsy-recovery I'm dealing with, it was easier to play games on my Steam Deck over the PC. Wukong isn't supported on the Deck, so I started Lies of P and am really enjoying the game; I'd rather not pivot back or jump back-and-forth, if I can help it.

Black Myth: Wukong is still on the menu, though! My overall plan is still to get them both done before January's end.

Thought you should know, if you happen to spot me playing Lies of P on Discord.

My Horipad Steam Controller arrived 8 days early, so that's cool 😎 Currently recovering from a liver biopsy, though, which is not-so-cool lol 🤕

  • Tencent, Parent Company of Riot Games, Blacklisted In The US Due To Alleged Ties With The Chinese Military

Some really sad Stake and Shareholders in the future.

On the other hand (I am not a professional and this comment should not get you to perform any kind of business or invest on anything) it might be a good time to buy Tencent shares as I do not think this will affect them in the long term and their shares will not take a big plunge. Might take a look into it.

Broke my glasses this morning, dodging out of the way of a snow plow. So that sucks. Gotta figure out how to play Wukong (or Lies of P) while I await a new prescription...

Don't go out of your way for my sake! From what I've seen so far I understand that you enjoy Baldur's Gate and PoE a lot. Removing one of them for Wukong probably isn't worth it.

Too late :D Going "out of (my) way" for your sake was the whole point of asking for suggestions lol. PoE2 is still in Early Access; it can wait for another day.

In my case I am really interested in Lies of P

After I finish Black Myth: Wukong (and another particular article semi-related to it), I will start Lies of P.

...my hope is to get them both done before Marvel's Spider-Man 2 hits Steam on January 31st, or thereabouts!

Thanks for asking! My vote goes for Wukong as I'm considering trying it myself.

I'll be honest: I've been working to hype myself up for Lies of P, under the impression that no one would reply lol. But I didn't forget about you and your desire to know more about Wukong. Reinstalling the game will involve a hard choice - my level of PC storage means I can't fit Wukong at the same time as two other giant games I've been playing, Baldur's Gate III and Path of Exile 2 - but I'll make it happen!

Still playing an ungodly amount of Diablo 4, I'm very close to what I'd consider my character finished though. Between that and the new season hitting I'll try to tune it down a bit.

Hearthstone sees a little less play, I'm not even legend in Wild yet. There are rumors of a Wild tournament on EU this month but it seems they want to wait for the mini set to drop before doing it. That one should be right around the corner and I expect it to be just as overpowered as usual. Not very happy with the state of HS to be honest.

Maybe I'll just get a PlayStation Portable and make diablo my main thing. We'll see.

  • What Should I Review Next?

Thanks for asking! My vote goes for Wukong as I'm considering trying it myself. The biggest question for me is how Soulslike it actually is. Is it possible to go easy mode and just enjoy the story and the graphics? Is it open world? Are there many side quests? Stuff like that.

    Happy New Year everyone!

My answer for this month is going to be quite boring I'm afraid. I plan to continue Stardew Valley, I'll be checking out the WoW update dropping soon (but not likely to do much with it), and I'll get in some Tarkov PvE here and there which I played during the Winter break with a couple of friends.

I've got a few titles that are in my queue for reviews for the site that hopefully I can get to. It would be refreshing to play something new and possibly be surprised by how good it is.

  • What Are You Playing? Jump-Start January 2025

Took me eight and a half hours to complete my first playthrough for my review.

It's quite a bigger beast in content than the first game, but it's still fun.

    Wow, another month went by,

In my case I have my mother in law visiting so I will see if I am able to finish AC. Syndicate, and keep going with Hades and Balatro.

Other than that, my usual F2P suspects are still present.
