  • Riot Addresses Concerns Over the Upcoming K/DA Event, Clarifies Cards Still Obtainable for Free After Event

Given some of the other ... questionable ... choices Riot has been making lately, I wouldn't be surprised if this were the straw that breaks the camel's back for a lot of people. I think the risk of alienating loyal players is far greater than the prospect of gaining new ones who actually stick around.

Of course, retention of both groups becomes a lot more likely if Riot stops breaking the game with terrible design decisions.

  • Rexxar's 7th fight

Lost once to Misha, because i thought you needed to kill misha with the trap... And  i lost like 8 times in a row to Daelin, best attempt got him to 13 health, but i ran out of clears and recourses, and he snowballed out of control. Luckely managed to win on the 9th try because i hit good RNG finally. The Daelin fight is just "draw good cards and removal" and "have a board presence". Which is kinda hard.. WITH A DECK ALMOST FULL OF SECRETS. That 7 mana weapon that summons 3 sneks was pretty nice, but the rest of the deck was horrible. Also screw the Monsoon, Eye of the Storm and the Walking Fountains that come out, pretty much immediatly when your FINALLY on the board! Also why did they even give rexxar that HP? "Deal damage to a random enemy minion".. that doesn't really sound like a hunter hero power... And it doesn't have that much flavor with Rexxar, mainly considering Misha kinda dissapeared from play, even though some of the latter bosses have voicelines like "what a mighty bear" or something along those lines...

But despite that, I liked the story though. I wasn't that familiar with Rexxars lore/backstory, but now i appreciate Rexxar a lot more. (Also the pack give me a Ace Hunter Kreen, so i guess the trouble was worth it.)

*Edit: Looked up some lore video's, and wow. This book of heroes actually was very close to the original lore. The only notable differences are that Rexxars previous pet Haratha sacreficed itself to protect rexxar from a warlock, kinda sad they didn't tell that story. Mainly considering that Haratha was a legendary card in your deck for a few fights. Also they added the "save misha from a bear trap" lore, as that wasn't realy explained before. I like this change! I hope the other book of heroes chapters will get similar treatment. Mainly after that bothed lore in Jaina's book. (They should have added more fights in that one, because she has a lot more lore/backstory then other characters.)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'll end up submitting Sturdy Quarterback, since it's my least controversial card. I'll try to find a better art or at least Photoshop the blood out, and maybe give it a more colorful palette.

Undecided Undergrad has amazing flavor. I don't think its complexity should be a deal breaker, since it's about the same level as Corpsetaker.

I like the new name better. The wild implication that there is a class for dinosaurs in the Scholomance Academy is pretty funny, honestly.

Freezemeinster is still my favorite card, but since you decided to scrap it out, I'd go with the 4 mana version of Attentive Student.

I like this concept better than the Whip. Out of all of the iterations, I'd go with the 4 mana Horticulture Teacher. I don't think it would be broken for Druid to have a weapon, but it's not supposed to be their thing, so…

I don't have strong opinions here. I'd say I like the Cult Aspirant a bit better.

Anyone here bought 10 mage packs that can confirm this?

I know that golden packs have no rules, but class packs should have normal rules just as any other.

Lol, who else in the entire horde uses traps, bear traps no less, and Rexxar himself didn't even comment on it.

And besides, since the trap didn't switch places, I would naturally assumed that either Misha wanted to kill herself or that by beating her we sort of 'tame' (honestly that Rexxar didnt cringe from saying those words baffle me) her. Should've at least have stated that he needed to take out that trap (if he did, well, I didn't see it)

No I fully agree, all the best friendship stories begin with one of them sitting back and watching the other bleed out in a trap. It really demonstrates how Rexxar considers beasts as equal (superior even) to the humanoid races. Wait, hang on...

Seriously though, I think that mission in particular was a great success. You either role play as Rexxar the first time around, or learn the hard way that Rexxar is an animal lover (that's not a sexual term, in case it gets lost in translation).

linkblade: I think I still prefer the whip as a Hunter card. If you're sure to go with the treants, I prefer the cheaper minion.

BloodMefist: I like your changes to Cult Aspirant, but I like the Imps even more. I'm a sucker for imp puns. Attention: the last line of the text is missing "the" before "spell's" and "Cost" needs to be capitalized. I also wonder if this wouldn't be a good opportunity to make it one of those iconic 1 mana 1/3 cards. Can't see a simple way to abuse the card if it comes out on turn 1 instead of 2 from the top of my head.

The answers are no and no: you are not guaranteed a legendary in the first pack, and there isn't even the usual 10 pack guarantee because they are classified as rare/special packs.

So you got very lucky. Congrats!

  • Hearthstone Book of Heroes: Rexxar is Now Live! New Shop Bundle With Alternate Rexxar Hero

Everything between the quilboar and Daelin Proudmoore fights are taken from Rexxar's role in WC3. He does a bunch of tasks for helping establish Orgimmar and uniting the races of Thrall's Horde (e.g. rescuing Baine to cement relations with the Tauren).

Nobbel87's video on him (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0wP77NMR7U) covers it well. The video is now 7 years old, and it's a shame that it's still pretty much up to date aside from a couple a small roles in BfA. They really haven't made good use out of Rexxar, especially since they designated him 'Champion of the Horde'.

On a side note: I can't tell if the story is true to the lore, but I liked it.

It's pretty faithful. The only thing that was made up was him saving Misha from a bear trap (it's not specified how he tamed Misha in the actual canon). The only major thing missing was Haratha's death, which was Rexxar's original companion. He sacrificed himself to save Rexxar from a warlock that was going to drain Rexxar's life to sustain himself. It's one of the major reasons Rexxar abandoned the Horde.

Also, shame on y'all for seeing a bear caught in a trap and immediately trying to kill it. You've been playing too much Hearthstone - you see Hunter and you just go face :P

  • Large Battlegrounds Update Coming in Patch 18.4.2 - Ragnaros Nerfed!

Tempest was an insane minion. Crackling Cyclone getting 4 attacks off before your opponent gets 1 can instantly wipe your board without any counter. Al'akir with cleaves makes this even more toxic. It's way more common than you'd think.

  • Large Battlegrounds Update Coming in Patch 18.4.2 - Ragnaros Nerfed!

I bet you there's be some smartass at Blizzard who'd change his health to a decimal number.

  • Large Battlegrounds Update Coming in Patch 18.4.2 - Ragnaros Nerfed!

Not sure why people are saying the Maiev nerf is harsh. The extra 1 health never had much of an influence outside of the very early game when 1 health really matters. Her strength is the ability to make small gold investments for large benefits later, not giving them +1/+1. With any other hero, when you roll down to 1 or 2 gold and you finally find that triple or Baron or whatever, you're forced to freeze, costing you 1 gold on top of the gold you're wasting. With Maiev, that's not the case, and it's still the same after the nerf. There will be times where this nerf has an influence, but it feels like a placebo nerf to me.

Same goes for the buffs to Party Elemental, Arcane Assistant, Bloodsail Cannoneer and Salty Looter. Of course, there will be times in which 1 health or 1 attack really matters, but in a game where everyone's minions' attack and health is in the 20s or 30s, it's rarely going to be relevant.

I think the Chenvaala buff is quite interesting. With it, you can buy a minion on turn 1, and then skip levelling and buy a minion on turn 2. Then on turn 3, you can buy a minion, making levelling cost 0 gold. Will that actually make a significant difference? Most likely, no. It has the same problem as Bartendotron in that if you want to power level, just play Omu instead.

One thing I'm not seeing many people comment on is Gentle Djinni going down a tavern tier. It gives you a free unit after each combat and an extra body during combat. The majority of the strength of elementals comes from playing them (with cards like Rag, Nomi, Majordomo, Party Elemental, etc), so getting a free one every turn with the opportunity for strong battle cry effects (like Arcane Assistant, Tavern Tempest, Stasis Elemental, etc) and potential tripling seems pretty insane.

Same experience here. Lost to Misha because I didn't figure out I needed to kill the trap in my first run (I'm glad I wasn't the only one who made that mistake btw). Then lost to Daelin and Gronn at first try due to bad RNG in the first try each. Gronn was actually down to 3 Health and we had both emptied our hands, so it was a super lucky win for him.
