Flower Child seems like a natural inclusion that you're missing. It gets a permanent buff any time it gets support, and it's a 1-drop for Kinkou Wayfinder. I also generally like Young Witch over Herald of Spring. She's elusive, so she frequently just gets to put in chip damage, and she is more useful than Herald when she gets a buff from Lulu. She also provides a very meaningful combat buff, while the Herald just gives lifesteal. (Ideally you won't need lifesteal, since your deck is aggressive and you should be able to use a lot of life as a resource while chipping away at your opponent.)
Inexperienced Shifter: A conditional Battlecry card which you’ll never play at turn 1, this fits druid to a T. It is situational strong -Oasis Surger or Malfurion come to mind- but only in the lategame. It also fits the student flavor. I’d maybe even add a health, to make it somewhat playable in the early game in desperate situations. In the late game there isn’t really a difference between 1/1 and 1/2.

Nosy Newbie: A great flavor, and fits thematically especially because of Raise Dead. While you’re right and the flavor is kinda off – did he find a dead body and dragged it to his dorm room?- you could change that to adding a random warlock spell to your hand.

While I guess that the card is mostly fair, it is a bit bland and doesn’t fit Scholamance. I really can’t say what to change to make it fit- maybe name and picture? It does fit shaman, since murloc+battlecry, maybe it’s even a bit too strong with the quest.

Horticulture Teacher: 1/3 add a weak 2mana card to you hand, which is rotated out. Seems fair in a weak way. I’m not really a fan since I see no deck to play it, and teachers as 1mana cards are weird too. Since I’m not an English native speaker: what does “give an apple to your teacher” mean?

Accursed Pupil: While basic and classic rooms are mostly weaker than expansion cards, warlock cards are pretty good. And while mage/warlock is a somewhat natural pairing (corrupting power and all that), mage has no ways to get other classes’ cards as off yet. And discovering a card on a 2/1 is stronger than any other 1 mana get something minion. This would be a fair 2 cost card, and I do not see a way to scale it down to 1 cost while keeping the text.

Glaive Trainer: Good statline, and a great upside. Yes, powercreep and DH’s superiority are a thing, but this is too much. It should be a rare (which is not allowed, I know), or a 1/1, or a 1/2 with the effect as a battlecry.

Dark Arts Sacrifice: Ancient Harbinger powercreep! No, I quite like this card. A new student who’s a Dark Arts Sacrifice is a great idea, and the effect captures that perfectly. Invoke isn't all that random -- it's always a safe bet that it will give you something useful. The reason some people find it hard to play against is because you can't automatically read the person's hand at that point. I'm glad the game now has a way for you to generate unknown resources. It's boring when everyone knows exactly what's in the other player's hand at all times.
The non-dupe rule only applies to non golden cards. So if you happen to only have one golden + 1 normal, you are guaranteed to open that 1 normal card in your packs. Another way of saying it; if you only have golden copies of a rare card, you are guaranteed to open normal copies of them in your packs.
Noticed that in the last expansion, not sure if its explicitly stated. I dont dust goldens unless I really need the dust (my dust bank is so full I dont need to anyway), so its more noticeable to me I guess.
Read your post. Good stuff. Regarding Leona playing out like a midrange deck. Do you feel that Daybreak/Moonlight will have any life outside of this expansion?
I'm not a fan of gimmick mechanics that are designed to only hang around for one expansion. We've seen this in Hearthstone to a very disappointing effect. And now we are seeing it in LoR.
For example, Is plunder now a keyword exclusive to Bilgewater? We saw a few Frejlord units with it, so the assumption was that with the last expansion that it's a mechanic that could *in theory* go beyond the region's it was released with. Invoke (essentially LoR's version of Discover) is a region specific mechanic of discover that only discovers celestial cards. Discover, as the devs found out in Hearthstone, was a fantastic feature, that ended up being included in every expansion since it was released in League of Explorers.
However, mechanics like Daybreak/Moonlight don't lend themselves to further expansions, unless as you stated...they are "baked in". And you are absolutely correct. Baked in mechanics make deck building and playing the deck, a trivial effort, because the synergies are so obvious that you choose those cards. You don't try to make non-meta or non-standard decks because the cards that support the champion require baked in synergy instead of regional identity synergy.
To top it all off, I'm concerned that the Dev design philosphy of "paying close attention and making changes" will become less and less viable over time. What happens when people get bored, or LoR is no longer the "new shiny" and people just stop coming back? Will the devs still pay close attention when the revenue income isn't as high?
LoR seems like it's trying to re-invent the wheel, instead of learning from it's competition in the marketplace.
3 days seems like enough time to me. Can’t we make that the cut off?
@Live4vrRdieTryn This is isn't a thread that constantly requires attention, but something that people should be able to do when they feel like it. The only reason I bumped is because there seems to have been some momentum lately and I genuinely thought torto123 hadn't seen it was their turn.
I agree with DestroyerR that a week is ample time to give someone, and can second that there have been far longer down-times than this. Maybe they need the time to think of something, or perhaps they have other things going on but would still like the opportunity to set the next riddle. I understand that for others it means waiting, but there are a lot of non-Hearthstone puzzles to fill one's time with whilst this thread is quiet :)
Do you think I should of went with a different champion than Zed? Is Fae guide too bad? Just looking for helpful criticism.
I was thinking Fae Guide + Ghost would be good for extra damage with the non elusives but maybe its too slow and I have hush to counter other elusives.
First: cards that replace themselves are already in the game from day one. You need to be more specific and name said cards for any productive discussion. Second: Targon has 0 CARD DRAW SPELLS. I have no idea what your card advantage notion even is. The best Targon can do is cycle and stay even outside of generating Gem cards. So i think giving Targon a different mechanic like generate/replace/multiple casts instead of the standard "Draw 2" spell is a nice idea for region identity. Third: Taric would take Ezreal over Karma any day.
FIRST: Pretty sure conversations can be productive without him naming specific cards. It may help, certainly, but it's not a *requirement* for a conversation to be had.
Second: The advantage of card size is something most juvenile card games go through. Original Hearthstone had the same feel as Legends of Runeterra, that is people actually had many situations where they got into topdeck mode. Now a days the ONLY classes that ever reach top deck mode are pure aggro classes that are smOrc decks. Any mid-range/control/combo deck will *never* run out of cards in Hearthstone. This is because powercreep took over and "control" cards like Boulderfist Ogre (a vanilla 6/7 for 6 mana) aren't used because cards like Smug Senior exist (a 6 mana 5/7 with taunt that has a deathrattle that effectively gives you another copy of the card (without deathrattle)). I understand you're attempting to gatekeep but it's not becoming. When you have conversations, it's better to assume the best of the person's intentions, instead of the worst.
Third: Taric might take Ez over Karma, but if you were on a budget or in an expedition, you'd still pick Karma if given the choice. There's still very obvious synergy there. Ignoring it and making a "I'd still take X over Y" without acknowledging the power of Y still given the context is....well again falls down to making assumptions like I said in the 2nd point.
dunno, didn't get my disenchanted rares (from nerfs) so that doesn't count. I think.. I just now am missing one rare I didn't ever had in sholomance so I can report next month if this is something you can get.
I mean I'm pretty sure it's the case because what are the odds of getting 5 specific cards as normals within 5 packs right after completing the rare collection for Scholomance. If that was just coincidence then I must be the unluckiest person in the world, because all that RNG could have gone towards a golden leggy
dunno, didn't get my disenchanted rares (from nerfs) so that doesn't count. I think.. I just now am missing one rare I didn't ever had in sholomance so I can report next month if this is something you can get.
Now I have to explain this, but it is something that seems like it can't just be a coincidence.
After opening my initial packs in Scholomance I had opened a bunch of golden rares (about 5 total). Now I never keep golden rares because I don't like to waste extra dust, however, with the no duplicate rule it makes it so a golden rare counts to the limit, meaning you won't be able to open normal copies until after you've collected all the rares in the set. This, I thought, would mean that there is very little chance of getting the non-golden rares from packs to be able to disenchant the golden ones.
However, today I opened my ranked rewards and for some reason I got all of the remaining non-golden rares from the Scholomance set (I had previously opened my last missing one a few days ago). Essentially, what I believe to be the case is that there is a seperate no-dupe counter for your non-golden cards that will go into effect once you've opened all rares of a set and will prioritize all cards that you don't own 2 non-golden copies of. I assume this also applies to commons and epics (and legendaries I guess).
Was this ever explicitly stated? Because regardless it's a very nice QoL feature for those who want to maximize dust and don't care about goldens.
Before explaining the card, let me share something really quickly. I'm right now creating a whole custom expansion, and i was pretty sure that at least 1 out of the 54 cards i've already made would fit the theme, and turns out, there is one card that fits! But sadly, it uses the exclusive keyword of the expansion, so i can't submit it... i got a little pissed, won't lie, but the show must continue.
Back to the card, the idea is to represent a black cat that brings bad luck to you, but since he's your pet, he throws the bad luck to your opponent. I was thinking of making it a deathrattle to add extra flavour, but i want a second opinion, so share your thoughts with the class, NOW! Feedback later as always.
