  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

3 days seems like enough time to me. Can’t we make that the cut off?

  • Fixing Darrowing - New Set

As a combo deck I'm fine with it. You need to be thinking more along the lines of pursuit of perfection, heimer, and Ezreal Karma. It takes some amount of effort to line up your combo pieces but then you go all in.

  • I'd advise against going for Masters.

I reached Masters during the season of plunder, and sure it was a grind but it was ok. The tier before masters is always meta decks and a few people trying to think outside the box. Either you like it or you don't.

If you want to play janky decks and have fun then play Gauntlet/labs and normal.

  • Fixing Darrowing - New Set

I like the basic idea of the deck - it seems fun. But honestly, Nifty, I think the critique being offered here has less to do with how easy it is to get Darius into play and more about how bad Apprehend is. Looking at your examples:

    • Play him normally: If you've got an Apprehend in hand you might be able to push him to level up on one attack and finish off the enemy on a second attack. Seems good in principle, but the odds of drawing both of these cards in a timely manner is suspect.
    • Pull him from Thresh: If, as you've described, you're cheating Darius out to attack "in all of his 10/6 overwhelm glory," your opponent is already at 10 health or less. You shouldn't really need Apprehend at this point.
    • Revive him with The Harrowing: If you've got 11 mana, you can maybe surprise your enemy with an attack, but since you already start the round with the attack token 50% of the time, that seems like a pretty narrow use case.

The reality here is that Riot has designed this card to rally very infrequently. This is plain from the fact that Relentless Pursuit has an unconditional rally effect, but it costs 3. And since rally is worth 3 mana, if this ever became a consistent way to rally, it would be considered too cheap and get nerfed.

Most of the time this is just a much less efficient Guile, suggesting that it's really more of an aggro tech card you'd run 1x of to give Darius decks a little boost against a varied metagame.

Nice to be back. I made a simple card, a callback to the ogres that we didn't get since Rastahkan. But I fear it is too simple, or not good enough, since it can also attack friendly characters, for only a +1 from [Hearthstone Card (Battlemage) Not Found].  Maybe add taunt? Or scrap the design alltogether? What do you think?

    Will give feedback soon.

  • I'd advise against going for Masters.

So ladder is not for you, we get it.

  • (v2.0) Diana/Zed Aggro Elusive

    I have played enough games to test the deck against other decks and made some changes;

    There is a little guide for the deck in the deck's page if you are interested in;

I have completely give up Invoke package because it mostly slows you down. Going further with elusives always gives better results.

and now there is some Gem support because it is great with your elusive units and Mentor of the Stones is just a great card.

Gems also helps you activate Nightfalls and heals your leftover units on the battlefield. So I have added Gift Givers to the deck as well.

Windfarer Hatchling helps you push a bit more.

    Against Aurelion Sol decks;

And lastly, even though Will of Ionia has been nerfed, There is no real answer to The Infinite Mindsplitter in this regions so it is the best option to hold right now. It is in the deck because with Elusive package, 1 more turn is so important to win against this big guy. Just wait until they drop it and use Will of Ionia onto The Infinite Midsplitter while you are able to attack next turn. Just be sure they don't have any leftover mana to drop it again in the same turn.

Don't hesitate to use Fae Guide's on other units than Zed or Diana aswell. 3/3 and/or more stats on an elusive unit is always threatening enough.

  • Fan Community Spotlight - Neoguli's Core Set Reworks - Part 3 (Rogue and Mage)

Making Assassinate stronger is absolutely fine, especially as recent years have set up rogue as the class with the best unconditional single target removal, but it feels wrong to keep it unchanged in Basic while adding Simple Kill to Classic. Why not just buff Assassinate directly and add something else to Classic?

Great idea, KANSAS! I would like to add a point for the discussion thread: If you are one of those super cool people who give feedback to their fellow card designers, you should read the thread backwards. Sometimes people change their cards or drop one of their ideas completely. You can also build on feedback others already gave if you do it that way.

  • Fan Community Spotlight - Neoguli's Core Set Reworks - Part 3 (Rogue and Mage)

Thanks for your comment on Edwin! He's been in this weird state for a long time, usually giving Rogue a big upswing that felt polarizing - this was especially prevalent in Rise of Shadows. Aside from that, his removal also stuck well with my newfound weakness of Rogue - having less class minions than others and that are usually less tempo-efficient. And the new set itself has less cost reduction to really make Edwin worth his spot, as he would need to have cheap cards constantly printed in expansions to keep him alive, and at a certain point we would reach a critical mass of those.

    New season, woohoo!

    Here's my first idea:

    What do you think?

Super cool card, great synergies with the current decks. I think you could buff the stats a little.

I like the flavor very much, make sure to add the description to your entry. The one thing that might cost you a star from me is the background of the art.

    Cg8889

Sorry, I'm not convinced. The art and the name would be better fitting for a spell. I also think the wording should be "… from your deck." I'm not sure about this, though.

    grumpymonk

    Show Spoiler
Cool idea, but the effect might be too strong on a 1 drop. Maybe you could give it another effect, like a permanent attack buff by 1?

    R

    Show Spoiler
Pretty much what the others said already. This should be a warlock card, but then it might be too close to Twisted Knowledge. You probably should would rework this.

    linkblade91

    Show Spoiler
I like the flavor, but as the others already pointed out, it's really weird to generate a card from a wild set. I don't think this should be a thing.

    KANSAS

Great flavor, that's a 5 star card in my books!

    BloodMefist

    Show Spoiler
I don't like the art very much, it feels too dark for Hearthstone. The effect is certainly interesting and fits Priest's identity. Nice idea!

    Demonxz95

    Show Spoiler
Nice card, very flavorful. The one thing I don't like about it is that you would never ever play it on turn 1. It's a combo only card that probably wouldn't see play until turn 3 with Wrath.

    Edit: Conduit

    Show Spoiler
Interesting idea to put Beasts in Demon Hunter. It doesn't support existing archetypes very much as far as I know and sadly the art has no background. All in all it's an okay-ish card in my books.

That fresh Hearthcards smell... it's good to be back! A simple one to start us off, but I'm still thinking up some alternate ideas...

    Quick run of feedback:

Demonxz - I really like this one. It's a good effect and fits well thematically.

Bloodmefist - No issues with this one either!

KANSAS - I do like this one, but a part of me feels it could be better as a rare? It should be fine though.

linkblade - This one is my favourite so far, but then again I love some Treants, so I'm a tad biased...

R - Really cool effect... but a similar issue to KANSAS where it's a bit *too* special. Still very good though.

grumpymonk - This card is honestly too powerful. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a cheap card with a strong effect AND good stats? It needs a slight tone-down.

cg - I don't really know how to feel about this one... it feels too strong to be a common no matter which way you spin it.

frosthearth - It's just OK. I'm not particularly fond of it, but it's not bad.

Hordaki - Very well-done card and one that I could easily see printed. Also, I see what you did with the name ;)

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

So I opened a legendary two packs in a row! Very convenient, since I'm thinking about start hoarding gold for the next expansion now. Yesterday I got Disciplinarian Gandling and today Sphere of Sapience from the season rewards. I'm especially happy about the first one, since it's such a cool card but I didn't want to craft it. I don't really know how to use the Sphere right now, but it feels good to have it in case some cool deck shows up. Maybe I should make an iteration of big warrior with the sphere to keep the big guns in the deck..?

As for Apprehend: it feels alright. I did win a game just by using it for its stun effect, no Darius on board. It's definitely not a 3x, but its not as bad as people are thinking it will be.

Are you aware of the fact that there is already a 1 mana stun card in noxus that nobody bothers playing? If you are really into stunning a unit you should try Decisive Maneuver which can be used in combat to open a breach for overwhelm units that deals a ton of damage if it remains unanswered

Demonxz95 - Very very cool design, but I think that it should cost at least 2 mana.

    Quote From Hordaki

Demonxz95: I like it, but I feel like that would make more sense at 2 mana.

Unfortunately, this would disqualify the card, so I can't do this.

R - A decent card balanced by the fact that Warlock spells are not really the greatest and randomly generating them (even through Discover) is weaker than something like Mage for instance. Basic and Classic should both be capitalized though and I think the cross-Discovering is a bit weird since it's just a class card that Discovers a card from a different class. It's not like Wand Thief which is a dual-class card that Discovers a card from one of its classes and allows the other to benefit from Burgle synergy, and tri-class cards from MSoG which Discover from one of the three classes. I feel like it could just be a Warlock card that Discovers a spell. I don't feel like Mage would want to generate Warlock spells very much.

Hordaki - It's nice to see you make that "tutor" joke with drawing when Team 5 missed that opportunity (dammit Wretched Tutor). At first glance, it doesn't look blatantly Paladin-y, but it's not too bad in the slightest. The effect is pretty decent and also fits well with High Abbess Alura both flavorfully and mechanically.

  • I'd advise against going for Masters.

Keep your sanity and don't do it. Last season I got to Diamond 3 and it was a nightmare. Everyone used meta decks and never made a mistake which got frustrating and rather boring real fast. Before Diamond you could just mess around with any deck and progress. But in Diamond everyone is tryharding to get to Masters. And for what? Apparently master players say the majority of people who get to masters just kinda relax after getting there and start building random decks to mess around with since the grind is gone.

So I ask you all, what is the point? You can still have that same experience by just sticking around in the lower ranks and not having to deal with the mind numbing grind through Diamond. I can't speak much for Iron, bronze, and silver, since I wasn't there for too long; but the best ranks I find are in gold and plat. You can still mess around and try new decks and not get face stomped by meta deck after meta deck while doing it. The worst rank is definitely Diamond by far. No creativity, super sweaty players, and worst of all, BORING!

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

@R We’ve had longer breaks than that. Usually we start giving one-day “ultimatums” after a week

  • I finally made a deck myself that actually works for once! :D

    Quote From OldManSanns

I think 2x Hush is fine -- 3x would definitely be too much, and 1x will be a "sometimes it's there when you need it and sometimes it's not" condition.

Ideally 3x Vi, but I imagine you're short on crafting resources.  And I would probably change from 2x Vault Breaker to 2x Zenith Blade, possibly 3x if you can find a spot.

I made those changes. I do find Zenith to be more helpful than map. I have enough other elusive for the buffs besides Vi. It also allows her to still pick people off while still doing damage to the nexus. I have begone trying another variant of the deck though. One that cuts Targon and Vi for Ionia and Lulu. Not sure which one is better.

With Targon Vi was great. The gems made it so you could almost always insta level Vi the moment she came out. Even if she came out with two attack later in the match. But I also find Lulu helps to get more elusive damage in and protect Jinx in other ways with her level up spell and by buffing elusive unites thus putting the enemies attention on them rather than Jinx because their like 5+ attack out weighs Jinx 4 attack.

In Targon you are more or less looking at having one or two scary unites at a time that develop into scary unites almost instantly. While when playing Ionia you have an army of chunky elusive unites that do more dangerous over time but are harder to set up and thus the matches go longer. In Targon you often finish the enemy off before they get to their board clears but its way more weak to single target removal. In Ionia single target removal isn't so bad because you can always make more. But you now drag out into late game where one board clear basically means GG for you.

  • Fixing Darrowing - New Set

I played around with it some this evening and had fun. The only card I'm not sold on is Imperial Demolitionist: I get that its a reasonably-stat'ed 2-drop that also chips in 2 almost-free nexus damage, but without the wombo-combo of pre-nerf Disciple it feels underwhelming. I might try experimenting with Reckless Trifarian or Legion Marauder in its place.

As for Apprehend: it feels alright. I did win a game just by using it for its stun effect, no Darius on board. It's definitely not a 3x, but its not as bad as people are thinking it will be.

  • First Day Of School - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Oh, it feels good to be back.

She'll help you learn how to Spellburst! Good for draws and Libram decks.

    Feedback time:

Demonxz95: I like it, but I feel like that would make more sense at 2 mana.

BloodMefist: Fits with Scholomance mechanics and good effect, I like it. Although I'd either come up with a more serious name or find sillier artwork, there's some dissonance in the flavor there.

KANSAS: I don't know, it seems too powerful and doesn't feel very Shaman-y.

linkblade91: Interesting. Witchwood Apple might make more sense now with the increased Treant support.

R: I'm not feeling it, unless it was a dual-class card it doesn't make sense for one class to get cards from another. Also it seems weird to limit it to just the basic and classic sets.

grumpymonk: I really like the flavor of it, but maybe it should be a Battlecry or Outcast effect for one turn, since this could be VERY powerful if used with the right cards.

Cg8889: I think it works, just rephrase it to "the highest Cost minion" to bring it in line with Expired Merchant.

frosthearth: It's pretty powerful, maybe change it to just a spell you played this turn instead of the last spell to make it a bit trickier to play and less consistent.

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

I just hit legend for the first time! And i did it with a Highlander Control Priest! Control decks are my favorite type of deck so it felt really good to accomplish this without forcing myself to play aggro.

The highlight was one mirror match and it was one of the craziest (and longest) games i have ever played. I won on my very last few cards. My opponent didn't play safe when he was finally ahead and he ended up being surprised by a Kayn Sunfury (obtained from Brightwing that came from Dragonqueen Alexstrasza) into two Apotheosis into two attacks from the minions i had on the board and 7 fatigue damage for exact lethal. If my opponent traded i would have lost. If he played Mindrender Illucia, he would have won as well. It's impossible to play around something as random as this but it's not impossible to play safe when you are about to win. Btw, we both kept our Illucia's in hand the whole game and never played her because it's just too risky in a mirror match. I know he had one because i got a copy of it from Envoy of Lazul.

Are we not fans of thresh...some tutors like draven's biggest fan, and the dreadway don't even get run.

Better to cheat out darius on the attack in all of his 10/6 overwhelm glory.

  • Fixing Darrowing - New Set

Yeah, Noxus decks need more ways to tutor and/or protect Darius for Apprehend to be reliable enough. If Darius gets his own tutor card like the Leviathan for Swain I could see Apprehend being playable.
