  • New Demon Hunter Weapon - Glaivetar

Hey, check it out- it's gonna get nerfed.

  • New Shaman Spell - JIVE, INSECT!

Okay, hear me out, the setup is we play Jazz Bass and play two Overload cards (this puts the discount to 3.) Before the pop off turn, break Jazz Bass and equip Carving Chisel. Then on 10 mana, swing Carving Chisel for the free totem, cast JIVE, INSECT (which costs 2 thanks to the setup discounts) on said totem, and then play Criminal Lineup on our Ragnaros.

  • New Mage Minion - DJ Manastorm

Oh boy, new toy for Big Spell Mage! What big spells we got in rotation... Um... Arcane Defenders?... Deathborne?... Hmmm... yeah I got nothing so far.

  • All Day 5 Card Reveals for Hearthstone's Festival of Legends Expansion

The riff cards are alright. We got a 2 mana Claw, a Call to Adventure that doesn’t tutor, and whatever you want to call Bridge Riff. Long story short their all 1 mana overpriced for a conditional upside. I’m not actually sure what happens if you activate the finale on your first riff, but I hope it just replays itself atleast. Regardless I think this is kind o a worse version of relic dh. Whether that’s better than what warrior is already doing remains to be seen but given their current state the answer is probably yes. Also I find the finale’s wording alittle weird personally.

  • New Warrior Spell - Bridge Riff

Its honestly, quite bad, but not unplayable.

6 mana to spawn a subpar taunt and rush, you're really counting on the finale to actually add to that, because standalone this is garbage. But then again, its for warrior, so I guess that's pretty much the same thing throughout the last year.

That legendary card better be hauling ass like atlas because these riffs are fairly terrible.

  • New Warrior Spell - Chorus Riff

Out of the three, this is probably the best riff, because of versatility, and the fact that drawing a card for 3 mana is, while underwhelming, isn't the end of the world. Just dont expect this to be an inclusion inside aggro decks.

Dont know what else to say, other than the fact that I feel the riffs aren't really all the great. But if the final legendary bridges all these riffs, then it might end up looking a whole lot better than it is right now.

  • New Warrior Spell - Verse Riff

Its only ever good if you're going to proct the finale.

Because on its own, its a Sword and Board that costs 1 more. In fact, come to think of it, its hard to justify playing this riff at all, because you might prefer to just proct the other riffs than this one.

Unless the final warrior legendary requires plenty of riffs played, this might well be a miss.

  • New Demon Hunter Weapon - Glaivetar

This could potentially draw you a lot of cards with Wretched Exile. Well, for as long as you have mana to play generated outcast cards. Might still be a shitty combo though.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Eye of Shadow

Well, with Going Down Swinging this could net you a lot of healing. Too bad that's a 7 mana combo unless you can reduce the cost with Relic of Dimensions or something.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Instrument Smasher

Looks pretty good. Sure, this will almost certainly only live long enough to give you one new weapon, and you may have to swing with 1 durability the turn you play this to even guarantee that.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Going Down Swinging

Maybe this will be decent with a weapon equipped, but I'm guessing you'll kill two or three, then break your weapon and be stuck at 2 attack for the rest of them. If Illidari Inquisitor is still in Core after rotation, and you can cheat it out, that might help. There's also Dispose of Evidence.

  • New Warrior Spell - Blackrock 'n' Roll

Naga Giant, anybody? A 14/8 Grommash Hellscream should end plenty of games, though there might be a problem with surviving long enough to play it.

  • New Mage Minion - DJ Manastorm

Definitely support for big spells. What those spells are, I have no idea. I'm just sure you don't want cheap spells in your hand when you play this because they will quickly go above the original cost.

  • All Day 5 Card Reveals for Hearthstone's Festival of Legends Expansion

    Rifts are nice.

But I doubt its as good as it is in practice. The card only truly gains in value as a finale card, because at baseline its slightly under-balanced. In this respect its substantially weaker than relics or concoctions.

Pretty sure the legendary would have something to do with the rifts as well. Perhaps play all three? Or just play all the rifts played before. That'll make them all playable, if nothing else.

  • New Demon Hunter Weapon - Glaivetar

Forget the outcast upgrade shit. If this card simply draws you a card for 4 mana that does 8 damage over two turns, its already a decent enough aggro card that'll see play.

Realistically, it'll never draw you more than 2 cards, unless drawing a ton of cards is the exact gameplan from the start. Because no one will hold on to this just to charge it up, and there's always a chance your opponent burns your deck by popping it for you.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Eye of Shadow

    Its crap if Im honest.

Why put a 2 mana 2/3 that you have no intention of playing on curve, and that its effect is made completely redundant by Unleash Fel

Unless this means all your spells have lifesteal as well, this card is just a poor tech choice at best.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Instrument Smasher

4 mana 3/6 is decent and respectable, but the fact that this practically equips another weapon for you, and is somewhat a soft taunt makes it a decent, solid card that can fit anywhere that isn't spell dhunter.

And no, you're not going to combo this with Going Down Swinging, because that would be stupid.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Going Down Swinging

What the hell. If there isn't strong support for hitting minions repeatedly, then this is just complete garbage.

Judging the card at the moment, without further reveals, this card is doing something Immolation Aura did for 2 mana ages ago. Not to mention the fact that you'll likely lose your weapon hitting minions and not face. Seriously, you can down this to 3-4 mana and it'll still be quite shit.

Im cautiously optimistic that there's something unrevealed that will immediately make this better, because this is starting to look like a sure-win for the lady liadrin award of this expansion.

  • New Warrior Spell - Blackrock 'n' Roll

This card is just baffling to me. Not its power level, but the fact that warrior is so screwed and yet team5 thinks this is the answer.

Well, let's just go through the positives. There are certain warrior cards that can take full advantage of this card. Trenchstalker, Decimator Olgra, Fleshshaper are but a few that will absolutely full utilize the stats given to them. Fleshshaper can also be tutored by Last Stand, and potentially put two 18/28s on board that'll demand answers.

But the mitigating circumstances make this highly unattractive. Firstly, those cards have to be in the deck when you play this, and secondly, warrior draws like shit. In fact you cant tutor this card by any means, making it inconsistent to begin with. And ironically, this sort of deck just folds to control decks, whilst being somewhat better against aggro with or without the buff.

Dont understand why didnt team5 just make it so it buffs your hand. Surely they've plenty of historical evidence to show that cards like these never work. Lady in White, Deck of Chaos, etc. Is this any different?

  • New Mage Minion - DJ Manastorm

Its a ramped up Kalecgos, but crucially requires you to have spells in hand rather than discovering on right away.

Im having lots of doubt about this card. Its an obvious support for big spells, but what are those spells? Rune of the Archmage is rotating, and so is Drakefire Amulet. And there's a point to be made about putting too many big spells in your deck, because you'll get rolled over by aggro.

So play medium-small spells then? Well, you can already play these by the time you reach 10 mana. What about combo potential? That's fine, but you've lasted 10 turns. How many combo decks actually survives 11 turns? Hell, this card is pretty much somewhat made redundant by Barbaric Sorceress, who also allows cheating mana but does one thing extra in screwing your opponent.

But for all my complaints, this card will certainly see play because of its power level. Just not too sure how well it'll do.

The rifts all seem like cool cards, until you realise that Demon Hunter’s Relic package does the same thing but is so much better

That is true, but that doesn’t stop them from playing Standard, Wild, and BG’s. Why not throw the players who pay to play the game a bone and give them something that makes them keep playing?

Yeah that's my thing with a rotating format. Every format doesn't have to be for every person; Wild certainly doesn't cut it for most and Duels is in the same boat. Standard is there to keep players engaged without a huge investment so give old cards a chance to shine again in a rotating format.

Hell, I'd even be okay if they wanted to make a format where you could optionally rent the card pool for the rotation. $10 or 1000 gold gets you access to all the cards in that season's pool. It lets people who have huge collections take advantage of them but newer players can go try something new too. Maybe they dump a pass for it in the pre-order too. So many ways they could go about boosting engagement, but I believe that no matter what, they're going to be super concerned about standard queues declining so we'll get nothing.

Blizzard will half-ass it like they did with the release of Classic (they had zero plan outside of make Classic a thing again) and then cite poor engagement as a reason to stop updating it. All they had to do was push Naxx into Classic 2 months in, and then Goblins vs Gnomes a couple months after that and they could have had repeated engagement.

Expansions launch, 2 months later a mini-set launches. The perfect time to do something like a Classic swap is between those two events and between a mini-set and the next expansion. Why they don't rotate Duels even on a more regular basis blows my mind. They've made so many improvements and they finally figured out their cosmetics pipeline (which took an embarrassing amount of time) so what's up with the part that matters - playing the game.

Also, no new Tavern Brawls ever when it is probably one of the easiest modes to do shit with is beyond hilarious.

Push out Brawl Blocks once a month. There's a rotating format every 4-5 weeks and the engagement potential is huge. It requires minimal effort to think of the theme too.

It’s crazy how many good ideas are scattered within OoC, almost like the devs don’t know what they’re doing
