I wasn't originally planning on visiting Nicol Bolas since he's from back in WAR and when I just started off writing Brawl Haul, he was fairly popular and I didn't see much merit in covering what was probably one of the best decks in the format. However, with new cards being added and the format-shifting a lot, I'll see if I can go back to the drawing board with him and see if I can bring him back to his former glory as being the de facto super friends commander. If it turns out to be interesting, I'll make sure to showcase it in an article. If it turns out to be boring/too much of the same old thing he always did, I can just DM you the decklist I was experimenting with if you'd want me to. I still have some ideas for the new cards brought along with M21, but this set brought along a lot fewer interesting commanders compared to Ikoria so I think it should be expected to visit older sets and try to tinker with some of the commanders from them.
On a side note, I am thinking of revisiting some older decks giving them a completely different spin. There was that new legendary shrine enchantment that looks like a blast to play but unfortunately, there's only one commander that can run it, that being Niv-Mizzet Reborn which was featured in the first Brawl Haul.
I think this will do the best in Priest with their cheap destruction in the shadow word cards. (i.e Shadow Word: Ruin) but this also has interesting effects with cards like Conjurer's Calling or even Sacrificial Pact.
Really fun card. Will definitely be a craft for me.
HS_Alec confirmed on Reddit that Spellburst only happens after the spell resolves, so he would have to survive. (https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/hvjzcx/new_card_reveal_headmaster_kelthuzad_the_first/fytv8lu/)
Under the right board states, this card can do quite a lot for 3 mana. That said, you won't typically get into state in every game. It's not a GREAT card, but in the right places, it's quite effective.
It just occurred to me that if the spellburst effect still triggers after death, then kel'thuzad himself will be resummoned and therefore the spellburst will be resetted. So obviously spellburst should not be triggering if the spell kills him.
I think KT needs to survive: the Spellburst condition cannot be evaluated until the deaths from the spell have been processed, but if KT's death has been processed he isn't around to perform the Spellburst effect.
Small board clear and makes opponents consider board positioning. Even better if you can drop with spell damage in play, or potentially combo with a good spellburst effect.
In certain decks this is just better than Sylvanas Windrunner. Its basically Mind Control, with the caveat that you need to use a spell to kill the minion you want, which isn't really that hard to imagine.
Aside from that its also a 4/6 for 5, which is already good enough to see inclusion.
Its just going to be in nearly every deck bar the most aggro of aggro.
So its somewhat like a reverse Betrayal where its more useful for the middle minion to be the weakest, or at least have the lowest health.
The cost is a little too high for a card your opponent can play around for days, but since mage has few early game AoE spells, this might just make the inclusion.

Headmaster Kel'Thuzad is a new Legendary Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy Expansion
That tyrande...Holy i loved it! Amazing job as always.
I feel like kel should have done more. Just one time thing is not good enough for a legendary card and iconic character.
New Mage Spell - Combustion
Love positioning matters cards. Really simple and nice effect.

Now this looks like a pretty cool card. Pair it with some AoE and you can swing the board quite a bit.

Responding to comments - anyone else have this issue?
Right now I’m trying to reply to the top comment (Riffraf). Let’s see if this works!
Edit: For me it displays me commenting on Sinti’s post instead of Riffraf’s. I think this is the bug they were describing

New Mage Spell - Combustion
Its a good card, but since its easy to play around it, its not going to blow anyone's mind out.
Synergize well with Mo'arg Artificer for some truly ridiculous removal turns. But at that point you might as well just play Rolling Fireball

man o man thank goodness for this spell, it's so much stronger than Arcane Explosion and isn't reactive like Flame Ward.
My first question is : is the excess damage dealt to the adjacent minions the same or is it split between them?

If that's the level of effort and value, seems a little too much not to just pay them to do a reveal video.

Yes, for more cards that make you position things depending on what other cards to expect
New Neutral Minion - Headmaster Kel'Thuzad
I wonder if when you AoE this card is resummoned and if so if the spellburst is active again.
