  • Ashes of Outland OTK Decks

One of the favourite things about reveal season are theorycrafting wacky OTK decks that probably won't work, but will be amazing if they do even once. What are some crazy concoctions that you have thought up? These are two of my ideas:

Kael'Thas Malygos Maiev OTK Quest Druid

Yeah, inb4 we see Optimotron and Optimotron Prime.

  • Maiev Shadowsong is a new Legendary Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Expansion

Very good tempo card, i can see this card basically played in almost all decks, similar to zilliax.

Making an opponent's minion "vanish" for 2 turns and putting a 4/3 on the board is very strong for 4 mana.

The effect can be used on your minions too, so it has some combo potential.

Or you can use to one of your minions if you feel that your board is already pretty strong and want some protection from an upcoming boardclear.

    Versatile and good

  • Augmented Porcupine

    They could've slid a C'Thun reference in there :{

Like the card though. Should be fun to mess around with using Necromechanic, Play Dead, Abominable Bowman etc.

  • Demons in LoR

huh? You said just what I said..

Teemo is operating in Zaun, not in Piltovers (you can see by the green colors of the shroom folowers)

I am not saying the demons are part of the void.. but neither is Zaun part of Piltovers (they are 2 separated cities) just that thematically both try to consume the living world, the demons have no place to call home other than their current base of operations.

Fiddlesticks is said to haunt the fields of Demacia( in his trailer you see killing 2 Demacian soldiers), but in his universe page it's said he has been seen in every other region as well, so you can't really pinpoint one location as his origin but he is not a Demacian champion, he could be there I guess with his followers being his victims just like Elise...

I said that "New Senna" is a SI champion since she thematically fits there, the senna currently in game is not the present time Senna but a past one.

If you target one of the new imprisoned demons, will they trigger their awaken effects when they awaken or is it only the first time?

  • Maiev Shadowsong is a new Legendary Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Expansion

    Not really.

I imply that this card, as a legendary, is more meaningful in Standard without common Spellbreaker around.

Nobody except Combo would craft and play Maiev Shadowsong, if they could play Spellbreaker.

She'd be just a Combo card. Instead, she's a Combo AND Tempo card. Unique AND versatile.

Maybe spellbreaker would have been HoFed regardless, but either way what I wrote was  obviously a hyperbole to underline the similarities between the two cards.

    Cards don't die, you know...

  • New Neutral Minion - Maiev Shadowsong

Sap on a stick except your opponent doesn't have to actually replay the thing which may or may not be a benefit (the fabled vanCleef counter, are you happy now?)

Will fit well in decks that don't have access to hard removal and need to stall for answers (mainly Druid, but possibly also Demon Hunter, ironically)

Your assumptions are correct. However, crafting something in golden when you already own regular copies of and then disenchanting the golden copies will result in an effective ±0 situation for all rarities (except Commons like people have pointed out in the comments; sorry that I missed that on the guide).

I'll put an example in spoiler (although it seems you figured it out while I was writing this).

    Show Spoiler

    1. You craft the extra golden and disenchant it later. For legendaries it would mean

    • You use 3200 dust crafting the card.
    • You get 3200 dust back when it rotates.
    • You disenchant the card and gain 1600 dust.
    • Net profit = 1600 dust.

    2. You don't craft the extra copy as you own a regular one i.e. you do nothing. For legendaries again

    • You get 1600 dust when it rotates.
    • Net profit = 1600 dust.

So basically you're doing the same thing with more steps. Not to mention the potential temptation of actually keeping that awesome, shiny copy…

But you haven't wasted your dust, so no worries.

Ah, I see my mistake now. It makes no difference. The result of crafting additional golden copies is the same as already owning all the regulars. I'll show myself out.

Yay neutral Removal for Druid...sort of

  • Hall of Fame Crafting Guide for Hearthstone's Year of the Phoenix Rotation & Ashes of Outland Expansion

This is PARTIALLY WRONG. Even if you have copies of the commons you should try to craft them Golden if you have the dust as those give a better return if you disenchant them afterwards (+20 extra dust) as opossed to doing nothing. Yes, the difference isn't very big but you should do it anyway if you have the dust laying around.

  • New Neutral Minion - Maiev Shadowsong

The only card I can compare it is Sap, this 4/3 minion can maybe help you forward to maintain your tempo or delaying. Sap just requires your opponent to spend mana again and can replay their battlecry.

I'd like to say that this card is fair, just a bit too strong itself, but I'm confident with saying that this card is fair. For example, playing Maiev Shadowsong for slowing down a big enemy is actually a downside for you if not planned well accordingly (No board clear or finishing the game fast means you're screwed pretty much it). 4 mana temporarily removal with a body is still too good anyways. This card seems versatile overall.

Oh boy, now I'm getting confused. I have regular copies of all the rotating cards and crafted Velen, Leeroy and one copy of Mountain Giant and Spellbreaker golden before I went out of dust.

My assumption behind this was that

    1) We get compensated for the number of cards which fit in one deck. (1 Legendary, 2 of the rest)

    2) The compensation prioritizes golden cards, so if I have a golden Legendary and a regular one, I get refunded with 3.200 dust.

    3) The dusting rate after HoF hits is the regular one.

Result: I crafted a golden copy, get my expenses back when the HoF hits and then disenchant the golden copies for the dust of a free (regular) card of that rarity.

Have I gotten this all wrong or why do you advise people to do nothing if they own one regular Legendary or two regular copies of the other rarities? Please don't tell me assumption number 2 is wrong. If so, I could hit the emergency button by dusting a regular copy before HoF hits, couldn't I?

UI/UX limitations were always an issue with this I suppose (among other reasons).

Sorry for disturbing quote that is off-topic from your thread but that limitation issue was completely a lie that Blizzard wants players to believe.

UI/UX doesn't even changed a bit and they added Battlegrounds in this UI/UX.

1-) They first said that UI is limiting them to add new play mode, then they've added Tavern Brawl with same UI.
2-) After that, They said that UI is limiting them to add more deckslots - then they've added +9 deckslots with same UI.
3-) After that, They said that UI is limiting them to add more new play modes, then they've added Battlegrounds with same UI.
4-) After that, They said that UI is limiting them to add more classes, Now They are adding Demon Hunter as a new class with same UI.
5-) It is still same UI and they've said at the reveal stream they will add a new game mode at middle year (Check Phase 2 of Year of the Phoenix)

They are still saying that server/UI stuff are limiting them to add more deckslots. These are completely lie. They are just waiting for the right time. If they think they can earn more money; or if they think they will lose clients just because these deckslot issues, They will eat their lie and release more deckslots today. These are marketing lies...

    - They have made Ashes of Outland, The Real Warcraft Lore related expansion just because they scared of Legends of Runeterra.
    - Riot promised that they will bring new regions to the game which is completely new for card games, so they scared and released Demon Hunter in a rush with the best weapon they have, One of the most iconic Warcraft character Illidan Stormrage with the same limiting UI and stuff.
    - They could have made duplication rule changes so much earlier than that, but there was no real threat that has fully free-to-play promises. People collected all cards in 1,5 months in Legends of Runeterra. So Blizzard make rule changes to duplicates for common/rare/epic cards.

Please don't be baited with these lies.

Fair enough, I was aware of this to an extent, or at the very least considered it a possibility. I mean I work in game dev and I know how things are. With that being said, I think it is easy to assume perspectives here, there might be some mixed truths in such a case.

In the past they've always issued dust at the same time as cards get HoFed, so my money's on the 26th

no sir, the cutest card is; Furious Felfin. :)

  • Maiev Shadowsong is a new Legendary Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Expansion

A must-have for its versatility. Use it on your own minion to reset their health or keyword (stealth, divine shield etc.), or save them for a later combo; or use it on your opponent's minion as a temporary sap.

  • Augmented Porcupine is a new Hunter Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Expansion

I don't think so. Even tho Dispatch Kodo has an instant effect, 3-mana 2/4 is always better than 4 mana 2/4, especially in a class that can easily buff it in board rather than buffing the card in hand and also in the class that can easily abuse deathrattles . Handbuff cards of Hunter were thrash back then.

Also, This card has great tempo with Houndmaster. It is more promising than Dispatch Kodo on paper. Rat Pack is a different story tho. They are different archetypes' pieces.

  • New Neutral Minion - Maiev Shadowsong

Just a note: minions that go Dormant DO NOT retain buffs, enchantments or any of the sort. When the minion awakens, it is a base copy of the minion.

  • Maiev Shadowsong is a new Legendary Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Expansion

What does Spellbreaker have to do with this card? Both cards serve a similar purpose and have advantages and disadvantages over one another. When you say "[Hearthstone Card (died for this" you imply there's some insanely broken combo potential, like "Mountain Giant died for Evocation".

Spellbreaker had to die for this.

Wild-wise, this is probably the best card of the expansion.
