  • Is Marvel Snap Kind Of A Bad Game?

Yeah like even Mogwai has been pretty quiet lately with his uploads and he was this games biggest cheerleader.

The problem is that the game just doesn't have "reactive plays."

Like if your opponent is playing patriot you could counter with enchantress. But that means you have to be playing that exact card.

There is no "removal" no "burst" no "combat phase" there's just tech cards really.

  • Hearthstone Battlegrounds is Getting 11 New Dual-Typed Minions

Do we know what happens to dual type minions when 1 minion type is banned? Like let's say Demons are banned but beasts are available in the game, would cards like Felstomper still be in the current game, or banned as well?

  • Top 2

Mana Burn and Illidari Studies as a cheeky lark ran into its only hard counter, Counterfeit Coin and Murloc Holmes. Note that the latter is absolute garbage and would auto-lose to all [Hearthstone Card (Patches) Not Found] decks and only just barely keep up with many others, and it lucked into the only deck it could soundly beat.

After that noise, we employ Renew and Shard of the Naaru, a go-to in this Brawl, and face Boar Shaman opening with Boars and Hero Power Totems. Entombed the first Boar. Before I could Drown the second, Shaman conceded and their second card was never revealed.

It absolutely had to be Earth Shock. I played no minions and both of us skipped a turn or two, suggesting that he physically couldn't play the card until I played something. This would mean that the first boar I copied or stole would be silenced and destroyed, but it also meant that he could never get the Sword of a Thousand Truths: I would simply silence his 6th+ boar once I'd allowed them to be destroyed and he can't destroy his own because this always silences the Boar.

So that deck has some challenges.

And the collections are different for everyone - that's the beauty, so primitive netdeking is impossible. Moreover, the collections are different for everyone not only throughout the entire third pool, but even after it, given how difficult it is to get cards from pool 4 and 5.

There are a couple things going on this quote that are misunderstandings.

    1) Literally everyone who hits collection level 486 has EXACTLY the same collection at that moment. Every single player, no exceptions. There is zero difference in their cards, just in their variants. Same thing for collection level 222 - every player at collection level 222 has identical collections with every other player at collection level 222.

    2) Everyone in pool 3 has all of the pool 1 and pool 2 cards, guaranteed, no exceptions. This means that the only remaining variable is which cards your deck has that are exclusive to pool 3 or higher. This certainly allows for variations, but every deck will still contain a significant number of cards from pools 1 and 2.

    3) Pools 4 and 5 are not actually separate pools. The only reason they are mentioned is because they have a different drop chance than pool 3. But you could theoretically get a "pool 5" card immediately after moving into pool 3 - anytime after collection level 486. You don't "move out" of pool 3 at any point, though I suppose you could say you're no longer in pool 3 if you manage to collect every single pool 3 card. But there is no collection where you move from pool 3 to pool 4.

    Okay...

    1) 222 and 486. I mean, c'mon... Unless you want to stay a while at these CL, it's just two very short moments in time. That one core card of the meta deck might be the last card in your collection tree in that pool. Or two cards. Or three cards. So you play the whole pool 1 or 2 period with the substitutions you should think of.

    2) The period you were saying lasts from 486 to 600. Not that long also. After 600 in pool 3 your opponents will be mostly with full meta decks. And pool 3 cards change the gameplay significantly. It's not fair to say that your deck will still consists of pool 1 and 2 cards. It will be a completely new game for you depending of what few pool 3 cards you will have. And you will think how to accompany them with cards you have in a best possible way. And this period lasts for a several months, until you have all the pool 3 cards.

    3) And after that you will have probably 3-5 random cards from pools 4 and 5 and you start post-pool 3 period (doesn't matter how you name this period, I name it pool 4-5, why not, makes sense, you have all the pool 3 cards by now, now you get only 4's and 5's) with that and this period will last even longer than the previous one, I will say that it will last probably forever for 99% of the player base, because it is very hard to have all the cards from current pool 5 in any period of time.

Last two things. The difference is that Snap never allows you to target a specific card you want (well now it kinda allows, partially) is a very big difference. Being able to fully craft in other games a good meta-deck (you could craft good aggro deck pretty fast in any game) is a fundamental difference. It's not just "only" difference. And the second one, I wouldn't say anything about "most people" at all. It's still one person who expresses this point of view.

    Peace.

I hope these two fellows fit the rules; they both interact with two specific minion types (if you consider 'Amalgam' a type - I mean, if 'Imp' is a type... I'm not still salty about how vague that is).

Both cards aim to enable tribal decks by making buffs that target minion types, like Dragon Speaker, more consistent. Experiment is a Darkmoon card and Tur'ribe is a Sunken City card. (the first should be an epic and the second should have a Battlecry:, I'll add that for submission)

Linkblade: I'd bump him up to 5 mana, for future balancing reasons. Having a 3-mana Mech with Deathrattle die and summon King Krush on turn 3 feels bad, and could be a possibility as is. At 5 mana, that's still a possibility, but feels… well, bad, but in line with current large minion cheats, at least. Flavorwise, setwise, otherwise, it's a fantastic and interesting card. I'd love to play with it.

Wailor: Lord Amethos makes me think, at least, which I like. But it's not a long think. Any Totem deck with 5-10 Elementals won't rely on Totem synergies, so you'd be choosing Totems like Mana Tide Totem with general effects. In which case, maybe you can get a 4-4 with Taunt that heals 1 and draws a card and gives +1 Attack at turn end and gives +2 attack to neighbors. If it's turn 6 and you're very lucky. Totems are a tough type to build a multi-class card for. They don't play nice with others.

On the flip side, Deadmoon Raider feels solid. It could work. A minion-heavy Pirate Rogue could want it, if such a thing exists. It doesn't feel exciting in an existing-deck-completion or a power-fantasy sort of way, though.

Oop. You posted another one. Blackgill Cultist is the strongest card for sure. The deck he promotes feels real. Creating a gateway between small Murlocs and tall Demons feels very Warlock, very doable. As everyone knows, Team 5 loves to tease us eager boys with big Demons that never see play - any excuse to make that happen sounds good to me!

Neoguli: It's a solid card. Resource generation. Stats. Fits with the themes (though I'd change it to a Dragon, as said above). I'd be more excited about it if a Dragon-Naga deck existed or felt relevant. Is there such a deck out there that I don't know about?

Demon: You put this at 7 mana so I could play it with Drakkari Enchanter, didn't you? Heheeee. I like it. I guess it'd be most powerful in Druid or Shaman, with Bearon Gla'shear or Topior. There isn't a glut of exciting high-cost Elemental battlecries, though. Maybe if it were costed lower and the cards it draws from were mana-capped?

Aero: Captain Shivers is the more straightforward, strong card. Exactly what such a Rogue deck would need, I suppose. Crafting a custom Zombeast is more exciting, though. While the lore doesn't work currently, as noted, I'd enjoy a card that explored that more than a card which explores Pirates and Undead for Rogue. Maybe there's another way to do it. (Note that Reanimator would be spelled with an o, though.)

As an amusing sidenote, the artwork you chose for Shivers deserves an award for most used in fan competitions. Somebody oughta tell the artist.

Moondreamer: As noted, the flavor is on point, but the idea of eating your own minion feels irredeemably bad. Maybe it would feel better if you specified 'original stats' instead, but then why buff the Beast? Maybe there's another way to swing the same flavor, whether through a repeating effect with all Beasts, a minion or weapon that triggers a similar mechanic, or such.

anchorman: I'm not sure. On one hand, it's an exciting swing that can miss and is gated behind the opponent's actions (somewhat), so I'm not calling for a higher mana cost. But it also doesn't promote a specific style of deck. A solid 3 star card for me, since it seems workable but I don't think it promotes a deck or flavor that I enjoy.

Basil: I love it. Wouldn't change a thing besides the artwork and the first blank line of text. Favorite card in this thread, promotes an interesting, new deck and makes me rethink lesser-used minions. Think up some good flavor text for that beastie! I want to see him win.

Feedback, on a Wednesday no less:

    Show Spoiler

Wailor - This is a good card that can pop off in interesting ways, but its costed such that it won't happen too early in the game to be abusive. Plus you could whiff by drawing the other Cultist off this heh. My only problem is a small one: it should just say "Swap their Costs." at the end. See: Vast Wisdom, Prismatic Lens, etc.

BasilAnguis - Did you mean to skip over me in your feedback? It looks like you had it at the end, but deleted or forgot about it lol :P Anyway, this is a really neat card: I could see a nice flow going between them. Whether it should be 3-damage or 2 really depends on how many Dragon/Elemental dual-type minions there are in that particular set, because they would be the easiest means of chaining multiple Battlecries in a row. The safe bet is to knock it down to 2 (and don't forget a comma after "turn"). Last thing I'll mention is that the art is a little…off. Not sure if it's blurry, and there's something in the frame in the bottom-left that you might not want to be there. Still, the card is cool.

anchorm4n - I will echo Basil's concerns in-that the card doesn't require or push a dual-type deck. You could play Tag Team in anything, really, because the effect is self-contained.

Moondreamer - The flavor of this is perfect hehe. Is it a good card, though? Hard to say: you need a Beast on the field that will survive long enough to be buffed and maybe get some hits in, only you plan to remove it later for a (larger) buff on a Dragon. You're gonna feel real sad if the Dragon is removed quickly afterward - that's like a two-for-one special for your opponent.

AeroJulwin - I like Captain Shivers more than the Zombeast card. In my opinion Zombeasts should have remained uniquely tied to DK Rexxar, given it's the sole thing making the card special. Shivers is also more elegant in its design, I feel, and more flavorful overall. You can easily imagine a crew of ghost-pirate cards to go alongside this :)

Demonxz95 - This is cool, but also concerning. In some ways it goes against an important rule of Hearthstone: Start-of-Game effects aside, you should have to play your cards. We always knock those "if this is in your hand, do X" effects, but Constellos encourages you to hoard your best Battlecries so-as-to trigger them without playing the minions. Is that okay? Maybe, but maybe not…

Neoguli - Like some of the others I am not a fan of the art. Not much to say beyond that, really: it's a pretty straight-forward workhorse kind of card. It's a little too simple for someone like myself who delves into uniquely complicated Legendaries half the time, but that doesn't mean it can't be appealing for others.

Tried to do Harbinger of Winter and Glacial Advance, ran right into a Pogo deck. Conceded, switched to Pogos, got a Hunter to concede turn 1. It's a virus...and I helped spread it :/

Just did one game with Horn of Winter and Glacial Advance.
Really, I was dumb and didn't think of the interaction.

The Mage I played was using Font of Power as one of their two.
Did not pay attention to what the other was.

Would like to see more fun ideas like Desert Hare/Revolve and Patches/Ritual of Doom; not boring stuff like Pogos/whatever, Glacial Advance (like I used), Embiggen/Patches.

  • MARVEL SNAP Announces Series Drop - Series 4 & 5 Cards Moving Down, First Edition Badges

Yeah, it's definitely expensive to buy the bundles and all that. I am a season pass player, so I'm spending $10 / month. Everyone is different, but I'm content at this level.

And yes, I'm sure that the publisher is mainly pushing the monetization, and I agree that it could use a lot of tuning.

  • MARVEL SNAP Announces Series Drop - Series 4 & 5 Cards Moving Down, First Edition Badges

It was early on that Brode / Second Dinner said that they want players to have different collections. It's a fundamental shift that people need to understand and make peace with. You aren't going to own all the cards! If Regis wants to spend whatever it takes to get every card, then fine. But all I'm saying is that it's possible to be patient and have fun with what you have, without having the mindset that you need every card immediately.

I'm super happy about the Series drops, since I've wanted to try She-Hulk and Absorbing Man, but I'm not spending 3K tokens or a ton of real cash to make it happen. I'm happy to wait for the cards to shift down to a reasonable level (Series 3) so I can snag them. I know I don't represent everyone in feeling this way, but it's just a different card game, and I've personally been making mental adjustments to get used to it.

  • MARVEL SNAP Announces Series Drop - Series 4 & 5 Cards Moving Down, First Edition Badges

The problem is that new cards are extremely expensive and most players cannot play them unless they shell out big money. There was a video by RegisKilbin that he has all cards and it costed 2700 us dollars

I'm all for devs making good money, but Snap is definitely extremely expensive and there's no chance most of that is going to the developers.

  • MARVEL SNAP Announces Series Drop - Series 4 & 5 Cards Moving Down, First Edition Badges

I totally agree. I'm so disappointed that they monetized a game which you can enjoy and compete at a high level without spending anything. I wish that Second Dinner just had Second Jobs. That way, they could work on this game in their spare time and give us everything for free. Why isn't this possible?
