Why not? They're kinda neat. Remember Blackrock Crash? I actually enjoyed that Brawl together with the idea of the community working together in order to achieve some goals.
The more interactions the better it is for both of us.
funny because I was thinking of taking a break because of all the Elusive spam that fundamentally invalidates the core gameplay.
I guess we'll see in a week if they're able to correctly identify and address problems in the game.
I'm not a Runeterra player (haven't played the game even once), but I've read about this "Elusive" issue many times and we can say that I got pretty curious.
To put it simple, what's the matter? Why is it perceived so poorly?
To put it in simple terms it is like having flying before they added reach, though saying that is also making the assumption that reach fixed flying in MtG
I thank you for your reply, but unfortunately I'm not familiar with MtG either :(
A note about Vincent Grand's Vlad deck/video: if you are going to play that deck, DON'T do like he does and drop Take Heart and Transfusions at the same time you announce your attack! You want to at least try to bait out direct damage & damage buffs from your opponent and play your buffs in response; otherwise there WILL be games where you get punished and lose a critical unit that would have otherwise lived if you hadn't tipped your hand.
While Odd Druid was supported in the expansion with Gloom Stag, it never really took off. However, with a few cards from the last year, I've cobbled together a semi-functional deck that plays like a fairly basic midrange deck. Helpless Hatchling and Knight of the Wild allow you to play cards on even turns, while, on the rare occasion Gonk survives a turn, Gloop Sprayer and the reward from Secure the Deck can unleash some impressive burst.
First off, feedback! I've picked out any that I haven't seen submitted. If you feel like I missed you, let me know. (As always, take with a healthy pinch of salt. I'm a terrible judge)
Show Spoiler
BasilAnguis - Glass Elemental - I would certainly limit the effect to enemy minions, as in it's current form it can give the enemy Hero taunt, and I'm not sure that's a good idea. Otherwise, I like it. I always liked the ability to give enemy minions taunt with Sparring Partner. I would also reduce the stats slightly, or make it a 4 cost for balancing purposes.
Dermostatic - Akali's Chosen - I like it. Good removal versus token decks, but not great against decks playing big curve minions. Only suggestion would be to consider a low cost, and reduce stats accordingly, so it can fill that role better.
MurlocAggroB - Warp Fiend - Interesting, and I have no idea of how to rate it. I feel more often than not, it would result in a net negative effect, as it's big enough that if you swapped a negative minion, such as Keening Banshee over, they could just trade it and avoid the effect. It would work with something like Bomb Squad I guess? I think it's fine, but it's a really hard one to call.
As for mine, I've had a couple of ideas:
Seeping Rot, is probably the most basic form of effect for this comp, but I haven't seen anything like it. I balanced it against Crushing Walls, although it might be a little strong in a more control focused class.
Xavathras is a bit more interesting, essentially the flavour behind it is a trickster, who uses adjacent minions as human shields, disguising them as himself, allowing him to "reveal" himself once the disguise is killed. Not sure about balancing though...
What do you all think Riot will do to her in the next patch, since they mentioned her by name?
If they decide to rework her, I don't think it will anything I'd expect it to be. I can tell you what I would like it to be, though:
Option A: cheap and aggressive a la Lucian & Zed
Remove the bond mechanic entirely and just replace it with "Support: Fearsome and +1/+0" because bond doesn't play well with rez/recall/detain mechanics and there's no reason to reinvent the wheel here
Change the level up requirement to global, e.g. "You've had 5 allies die" because Kalista is made out of paper plus SI has no inherent way to protect her so its cruel to try to force players to have her survive that long
Change the L2 effect to "Attack: summon a random allied follower who has died this game. It has ephemeral and is attacking." so that way the ephemeral and death-loving archetypes can get some love
Option B: backline value a la Heimer & Karma
She still bonds for +2/+0 on Played and still must see 3 deaths to level up
Change stats from 4/2 to 1/4 at L1, 2/5 at L2 because she needs to actually live to do the aforementioned. Keep Fearsome tag because why not.
Change the L2 effect to "At the start of each turn, if my bondmate is absent, resummon him and reforge the bond." so that it persists through recall & detain mechanics, doesn't require Kalista to put herself at risk to get value, and still gets value on rounds where you don't have the attack token.
I think the keyword itself need to cost more. The effect is basically: "Give Taunt to the other minions on your board". And we know Taunt is value at .5/1 mana
Rush means it can attack the same turn it has been summoned (or played), just not to the opponent's face. If you give Rush to a minion that was summoned (or played) last turn, it can already attack face, so Rush isn't doing anything, since it can also attack minions already because it doesn't have 'summoning sickness'. And that last part is key, Rush lets the minion skip its sickness but only to attack other minions, but if the minion doesn't have the sickness, then Rush doesn't add anything to it and it should not restrict it either. With Charge is the same. Having Charge means you skip the sickness entirely, so giving it Rush doesn't help it but also doesn't restrict it from attacking face.
I'm not sure this beats a turn 3 Solitary Monk + instant +3/+3....as well as another +3/+3 the turn after for a 10/9 beater that 2hits me and blocks anything i try to throw at him anyways.
It's not so much the Elusive keyword itself, but the fact that permanent buffs exist and damage is limited.
Round 1: they do nothing; you drop Pet
Round 2: they do nothing; you drop Elise and attack in for 5 (2/1, 2/3, 1/1)
Round 3: they drop Monk -> Stand Alone. Hopefully you have Sentry -> stun to forestall the attack, but otherwise any of the other spiders work here (2/1, 2/3, 1/1, 3/2)
Round 4: Elise levels. You have a 1/1 challenger for their sole blocker plus 7 attack on the board; they have 15 health so you need 8 more damage from 4-5 mana, depending on which spider you used the turn before. BB is 4/ea, MoiI and Might are 3/ea, Kalista is 6, Frenzied Skitter is 6.
Granted assuming Elise on curve is big, but so is assuming Monk -> double Standalone on curve plus attacking on odds. :-P In practice, most games will feature Bladescouts, Greenglade Duo, and Shadow Assassins, all of which line up poorly against fearsomes. The real risks aren't monks, they're either getting lucky on an omen hawk -> topdeck or Will of Ionia--both can stall out the game long enough for them to stabilize.
Hey, folks! In this thread, I want to present the idea for a new keyword:
Basically, it's the exact opposite of Taunt. If your opponent has a minion with cower, and another without, you MUST attack the one without first. And before anyone asks:
If you have a minion with both Taunt and Cower, they cancel each other out, so it's like not having either.
Yes, this was inspired by Mythgard's Lurker.
The best kind of cards you want with this keyword are those with triggered or end/start of turn effects. Here's a few cards I made:
And now, for the piece of ressitence:
Poor Wilfred. Ever since he accidentally summoned an EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION and barely surviving with his life, he's never been the same. Sure's he's still summoning Demons, but he's limiting himself so small, easy to control ones.
I wanted to create a hero with the keyword, but the effect itself isn't worth much IMHO, but a cheap hero like that would pretty much kill Aggro, and I don't want that. So I gave him the board swarm in the battlecry.
Best part? He actually has crazy synergy with [Hearthstone Card (Lord Jarraxus) Not Found]. Yeah, remember him? Probably not, since Bloodreaver Gul'dan replaced him entirely, and when him rotated, Zephrys the Great came along. Granted, Fizzleband doesn't solve the latter problem, but if you play Lord J after him, your Hero Power (yes, I know I forgot to write it on mine) basically creates a 6/6 pseudo-Taunt.
In any case, I hope you folks enjoyed this little taught experiment. Have a nice day!
They've never changed how many sets they release in a year - they've fluctuated between expansions and adventures, but it's always been three new releases a year.
And, to be completely transparent, Whispers is the exception; the previous year Blackrock Mountain's first wing released on April 2nd, and the majority of new releases do come out early-April, early-August and early-December, barring a couple anomalies.
I just pointed it out to say that the combination of the late announcement of the New Year and this prior expansion releasing later - notably the first after Standard was introduced, a 'big change' - was enough to cast some doubt on the release date.
Equally, Whispers of the Old Gods came out April 26th/27th. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for it to have been further back in the month, especially with how late the New Year announcement is.
Good to have soft confirmation that we're on schedule, though!
Well, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't WotG released prior to changing how many sets were to be released per year, slightly altering the reveal season?
What - what are the downvotes for? Every other version of the brawl had unnerfed cards in them, like Firebat's 5 mana Auctioneer and 3 attack Jugglers. And they still do! But Pavel's Barnes is 5 mana, Hunterace's Dr. Boom is 9, and Lion's Sludge Slurper has 1 Attack.
Quick add on note on the launcher there's a more zoomed out version of the gif where we can see the silhouette a bit better. And while the frame appears to be more male Blood elf I'm still going with Khadgar since there aren't prominent ears
My guess is announcement with reveals starting the following week. But they could realistically start the next day, or a few days after. Perhaps the Friday, March 20th is most likely since they'll probably want to stretch it out over 2 weeks and final reveal will need to be prior to pre-release events the weekend of April 3-5. With that in mind, final reveal (if they have one) would probably be Thursday, April 2.

My first idea. Strong minion that can't really go face that easily. You can use it to counter taunts too, giving taunt to untaunted minions, letting you bypass enemy taunts to kill dangerous stuff like Kel'Thuzad. Would be a neat Battlegrounds card too.
I like it, although I'd agree with anchorm4n and maybe make it 4. Its ability to give the enemy hero Taunt can come in quite useful in certain situations.
Possible Release Date for the Upcoming Hearthstone Expansion Leaked? Eyes On April 7th
No see Black Rock Crash was a fun interactive event for all the players.
The puzzle boxes were 30-60 minutes of streamers NOT revealing cards because of a gimmick getting in their way.
Deck Building Challenge - Odds and Evens
Sounds like fun, but I dusted my Baku the Mooneater. Now that I play more Wild than Standard, I wish I hadn't. Lesson learned on dusting cards anyway.

Well, it looks like this died on launch.
I didn't really want to post a second in a row, but I will, and if there's no further interest, I'll let it die.

Hall of Champions
I fixed the minus vote.
And yes, the single most important feature of this brawl is, that we can play with decks of champions, and cards in their unnerfed form. Strange.
Charge vs Rush - The Battle Between the Haste-y Hearthstone Mechanics
Rush means it can attack the same turn it has been summoned (or played), just not to the opponent's face. I mean, you can use it to voluntarily prevent yourself from going face.
It's something, even if it's a bad something.
