  • Do You Copy? - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Hello everyone.

I don't know if this would be really "good", and I think the text could be "Equip it and a copy to your deck" (Adding it to your hand could very much be overkill.)

  • Do You Copy? - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

I think it's more challenging because you have to somehow make 'copying' both useful AND original, considering there are so many in game already.

  • Do You Copy? - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Thanks for the feedback everyone! After some attempts at reworking Gibblegill (for example: changing it to a (6)-cost; changing the condition to 'If your deck has no duplicates') I decided to go with something completely different. I'm sure the wandering Murloc will be back at some point in a whole new form...

For now, this is my new idea, Bloodstealer Belen!

    Bloodstealer Belen

I think she's a little less flexible, slightly more interesting and has less potential to wildly swing games with a good hand of spells.

I'm not too sure which deck she would fit into, but I made her part of the K&C set to blend well with Lesser Amethyst Spellstone, Kobold Librarian, Vulgar Homunculus and the corresponding cards that make up the self-damaging Warlock archetype. What do you think?

As for the new cards I'm seeing, my thoughts are in the spoiler below.

    Show Spoiler

thepowerofcheese (Copycat) - I think the card fits well into any Hunter deck, especially considering there are some strong Deathrattles Copycat could take advantage of. Fun name, fun art, fun card!

Larrymoments (Pneumatic Squire) - An adorable little mech for Paladin, uwu. I'm tempted to see this as a (2)-cost minion. It would be strong, and probably feature in many decks, but I still think it would be fair.

Demonxz (Alonsus Faol) - This is one cool card. I like the effect, it's unique and allows Priest to actually benefit from healing without being op. I think this could be a 6/6 and still be balanced. Good job!

BasilAnguis (Time Bend) - An interesting gimmick. A clever opponent could play around this whilst still being slightly unnerved by you potentially holding it. It fits into the 'Lazul' group of cards stylistically too, nice one.

Xarkkal (Sneaky Mimic) - I like that it is a Combo rather than a Battlcry, and I agree that the attack should be reduced to 3 to bring it in line with Vilespine Slayer. Otherwise, I really enjoy this card and can see myself playing it in just about any Rogue deck!

Alfi (Apothecary Berard) - This is waaay too gimmicky. No one wants to be the one to play a (6)-cost 4/4 with no extra effects. I think it's the kind of card that unfortunately makes games less fun rather than more interesting.

anchorm4n (Cho / Agent of Y-S) - Love the idea of a corrupted Lorewalker Cho. Can see some great highlights with this being randomly generated. It's certainly more playable than regular Cho, but not by much. That said, for sheer flavour the card is wonderful. Agent of Yogg-Saron is nuts! This might need to be 9/10 mana to be balanced whilst keeping the same stats. It's an interesting, well thought-out card though, much madness to be had… :D

descentofdragonsOP (Ooze) - Whilst I do think this can be considered a copy card, I don't think it lives up to its potential as 'everspreading'. Perhaps there's a way to convert your whole board into copies under a different condition?

Yes, I was talking about wild.

  • Hearthstone's birthday is coming up in 2 days what are you most excited for ?

And I would like a way to see my own cardback more prominently when I play. Would love some interface option to that effect.

  • Is Final Spark / Karma interactions intended?

(I haven't seen the interaction myself yet so I assume that with this post you mean that the second Final Spark cast by Karma deals 4 damage to the nexus when the targeted unit has already died because of the first Final Spark)

It's certainly not a completely obvious interaction but think it does makes sense when you look into it. In LoR, attacking units initially target the enemy nexus, but once they are blocked, they target their blocker instead and will not attack the nexus even if their blocker dies before they attack. Units with overwhelm act differently because when their blocker is removed they deal full damage to the nexus, so you could say that overwhelm actually means "When I attack/target a unit, excess damage is dealt to the enemy nexus". The exact same thing happens with Final Spark. When it is cast on a unit, it targets that unit like a unit with overwhelm targets its blocker, and when the targeted unit dies before the damage is dealt, it will deal all of the excess damage to the enemy nexus.

I hope this explanation makes sense but I can understand if it doesn't. :p

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

Maybe its time for a super-casual mode...or meme-only mode? Strictly non-meta mode? Meaning your deck may not match any popular meta-deck for more than 75% or something similar. Or: you may choose 20 cards from your collection, the other 10 will be added randomly. That should kill all meta-deck similarities! ha!

  • Elusive units still a problem - Relentless Persuit is too cheap

I know the game is kinda new, but with so many games like HS and MTG running from ages, developers should know something about problematic card designs already.

The first time I watched Relentless Pursuit (even when the game wasn't open beta), I said that the card was broken for a 3 mana COMMON card. 5 mana should do the trick, I agree.

As for Elusives I think the no block rule will be fine in general, but in the meantime, reduce their health to 1 if you wanna keep the buff hand archetype nad for the love of god, remove lifesteal from them.

  • Hearthstone's birthday is coming up in 2 days what are you most excited for ?

Guys, he's just going for the Secret Million Downvotes achievement. Don't take the bait!

  • Do You Copy? - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Here are a couple of cards I already had that fit the theme. Let me know what you think.

  • Is Final Spark / Karma interactions intended?

I assume it's overwhelm that does the thing. It's kind of weird because it's not usually a keyword found on spells so the interactions don't seem as straightforward

  • Is Final Spark / Karma interactions intended?

I have a hard time thinking how Final Spark, which needs to target a unit getting casted after said unit is dead. I guess has something to do with overwhelm. It is w weird interaction casting multiples final sparks and oneshotting an oponent.

  • Hearthstone Summit 2020: Mage and Hunter will be the most fun classes to play..

    • Did Blizzard take f2p players into consideration? Yes, big improvements for F2p and for the cost of the game

    • Which class attracts you most? Hunter , there will be a fusion of 2 mechanics that works great.

    • Mage? it's the most fun class

    • Is the new mechanic cool? It's very skillbased

Related to hunter it's the fusion of two mechanics that has my interest.

It would be cool to see a mid-to-late game deathrattle beast hunter.

I really like the Deathrattle keyword, both mechanically and flavorfully, and I also think beasts would be cooler if it was less aggro/swarm stuff like Timber Wolf and more like big swingy minions like Savannah Highmane.

I just love it when Blizzard fanboys get triggered by the truth :)

The reason I am here is not HS but other card games. And since the most recent threads show up on the first page, why not read them?!

This was an opinion thread, and that's what i did - wrote my personal opinion. It's nice to see this game having so many immature brats that can't take a different opinion to theirs. You'd make great dictators! :)

    Have fun!

Proof: look at the previous post, whose idea some people share: some of you guys know that the changes won't live up to your expectations (they haven't for the past 5+ years), yet you still choose to be hyped and give them your money. "Modern" mentality at its best.

    1. It isn't "the truth", it is just your opinion. And you don't have to be a "fanboy" to enjoy Hearthstone.

    2. As you said, people are allowed to have different opinions than you. So you don't have to get all defensive when people disagree with you.

    3. You got downvoted because nobody appreciates your sarcasm and rude negativity. Maybe if you had posted your opinion in a more humble manner, people would have taken you more seriously.

  • Blizzard Confirms no Standard or Wild Hearthstone Balance Changes Before the Next Expansion - "Meta Looks and Feels Fun"

The Standard meta is enjoyable right now, though I wish Blizzard didn’t consider weeks of the same static meta to be a healthy situation. Changes are fun!

  • Blizzard Confirms no Standard or Wild Hearthstone Balance Changes Before the Next Expansion - "Meta Looks and Feels Fun"

While I understand your take, I refuse it as a solution: it's like a professional runner voluntarily cutting off his own leg in order to enjoy the feeling of running the paralympic competition (with the best respect for the category).

I don't want to diminish what you do, but the thing holds just because you decided to give value to staying at low ranks. Personally, i'm unable to do that (and just to be precise, I'm not even talking of very high ranks either, just stuff around r5).

I don't think I ever met a single mage that isn't highlander throughout DoD. I must be the only quest mage playing around in standard. And no, it's not good.

I think he meant quest mage in wild with Open the Waygate. Combo mage is starting to gain more traction in wild.

  • Blizzard Confirms no Standard or Wild Hearthstone Balance Changes Before the Next Expansion - "Meta Looks and Feels Fun"

My secret to enjoying wild is I intentionally don't get past rank 10. I don't see too many T-1 decks and so I am able to experiment with more stuff without getting killed on turn 5-6 every game.

If these things are true, I will be excited.

I'm not F2P, but I think the current cost to stay competitive is too high.

Related to hunter it's the fusion of two mechanics that has my interest.

I'm hoping some of the mage fun involves meme decks.

I think skill based mechanics are good for the health of the game. Folks complain about the high impact of RNG on win rates. Even a moderate lowering of the RNG impact would be good for the game.

  • Hearthstone's Battlegrounds is Getting a Balance Update Later this Month

Sorry, little buddy. I understand that reading headlines is too much for some people. I hope you can cope. Reading is hard.

  • Hearthstone's Battlegrounds is Getting a Balance Update Later this Month

Tirion is the only hero who had a useful power early, mid, and late game. Even Rafaam drops off at some point (although he should probably leave too).

  • Elusive units still a problem - Relentless Persuit is too cheap

Yeah, Elusives are still a bit silly, but I do feel they could easily be fixed if they just added the "Can't block" keyword to more of them. Aggressive decks shouldn't have problems against Elusives, but they do since a buffed Elusive unit can just value block an attacker and smash into your face the next turn with nothing you can do.

Specifically Greenglade Duo, Shadow Assassin and Kinkou Lifeblade shouldn't be able to block, especially the last one, since it allows for basically uncounterable recovery.

Also agree on Relentless Pursuit. I'd say 5-mana would be acceptable. Rally is extremely underrated as an effect and most other cards with the same effect come with a huge cost or specific requirement (like Katarina or Garen)

Anyone noticed the animation speed have been improved? Knife juggler's daggers are faster, getting heroic DoD card backs is so much easier now. RIP Nozdormu
