Godfrey is the best legendary that Warlock has received in a long time, and it's just a fun board clear to carry on the Defile theme.
And Zilliax is one of the best designed cards that they've ever come up with. The fact that it's been an auto-include for so long, without needing any kind of nerf, and never really felt bad to play against - they totally hit the sweet spot with this one. Unity, Precision, Perfection.
Edit: Missed the part where this article is just talking about Witchwood cards. Whoops! Jumped the gun with good ole Zilly.
Let's take a moment and remember that this set originally included Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane, two of the most degenerate cards ever printed that warped last year's meta in a terrible way.
While those cards are slowly fading in popularity in Wild (only a couple decks are strong now, whereas one year ago most of the high tier lists were odd or even), it's still incredible that they were the first cards to ever be rotated before the usual lifespan.
Yeah, as much as it's one of my favourite cards ever printed, I'm glad it's going to Wild before even I tire of it. A fun effect, but not one you want hanging about in Standard for all time!
sorry but i not a native speaker what give people a pause mean? is it good? i also like riot design choices hope they keep it after launch.
It is an expression. What i meant was, that Riot is doing something right, if ppl are being surprised that such a thing is happening in a first place ;-) They are not used to it from other card games, HS specifically. So by being very active with the changes we are surprised :) (in a good way).
Yasuo is a weak champion. Hilariously enough, the reason the deck does decent is everyone wastes their removal on Yasuo and the beat down units overwhelm the opponent. I know reddit loves vlad and yasuo right now, but they're just not strong.
The fastest way to climb is to run elusive or fearsome decks. Both are still ridiculously strong and it's nearly impossible to brick on your opening hand with them. Shadow Isles/Ionia is the most broken deck now. You have complete control, lost cost spells, and an answer for everything
I never really played LoL, but this seems like a fun exercise regardless. Here's my take on Pyke:
What is the point of "grant me elusive this round"? i dont recall anything that would matter for him to have it anywhere but during attacking, so it might as well just have elusive, which makes the ability a bit weird. Other than that, seems interesting.
I guess if you are not atacking, then you are not elusive, thus you wont trigger level up, so is it designed like that solely for the lvlup condition?
This just comes to show what a sorry state the card game genre has been in, when frequent changes to cards give ppl pause :) You can say what you will about Riot, but they are not affraid to buff or nerf a champion in League, or cards in Runeterra several times over. And do it again few months later. And keep doing it for years.
This is what i like about them the most. I hope they keep doing well and that other companies follow in their example, so we, players, can have the best experience possible in a game, whichever that might be, we decide to spend our time on :)

I normally disagree with the idea that competition is going to force hearthstone to increase it's quality because normally others game don't look as polished or simply don't have the support required but with MTG going to mobile a lot of it's base may actually switch over. I know for a fact I'm going to try it out.
I've been looking to freshen up my Rexxar gameplay lately and was wondering what off-meta builds folks have been experimenting with in Standard these days?
My main goal is to use under-played cards/synergies to generate novel problem solving opportunities for myself (and hopefully my opponent) in Casual mode (i.e. winrate <=50% is OK/expected). Below are a few examples of what I've been tinkering with for the last couple weeks. I'd love to see what people have theorycrafted for these type of archetypes as well as any other of your own crazy conctions!
Off-meta Unseal the Vault Hunters - I wish Licensed Adventurer enabled more combos for Quest Hunter in the late game, but so far I've really only built around Onyxia as a new threat with the coin. However, being able to play 3x SN1P-SN4P + Hero Power on Turn 10 is also a nice change of pace.
Highlander Vault is pretty fun but Deathrattle Vault with Nine Lives and Deathwing is my pick at the moment.
Has anyone tried a Mech Vault build? I could see one with Chopshop Copter having a little spice to it.
Token Beast Hunter - A token deck without Quests so I don't feel pressured to play all the quest cards. Instead we pump up our tokens with Spirit of the Lynx, generate value from them with Witch's Cauldron (replaying the spells via Zul'jin later), and draw from them with Cult Master.
Bad Luck Albatross Stuffer - After feeling the salt from a series of Embiggen Druid match-ups, I made something that has no intention of winning...you just stall and hope to frustrate their draws with as many 1/1s as possible. Naturally, this invovles removal cards + Albatross, Nine Lives, Ramkahen Wildtamer, Dire Frenzy, Revenge of the Wild, and Zul'jin.
This deck also gave me the opportunity to play Tentacled Menace in the hopes of discounting two of my cards to 1-mana. As a result, I throw in a Colossus of the Moon for the super rare high roll.
Other builds I know I'll be experimenting with until the next expansion:
Typically try a couple Flark's Boom-Zooka decks - one with big beasts and revenge of the wild and another with deathrattle minions and Deathwing
Unfortunately, when you combine the Decoy with Nine Lives it doesn't pull another minion from your hand. Instead, it gives you another copy of Blatant Decoy and then pulls that new copy into play. However, I've been meaning to try Nine Lives + Necromechanic to see if it will play the new Decoy and then pull a big minion from my hand.
It's kind of crazy that, although I've listed a bunch of under-used cards, there are still a number of fun-looking ones I haven't touched this season like Dread Raven, Chromatic Egg, Body Wrapper, etc.
Please share any crazy Hunter theorycrafts you've been testing below!!

I’m bummed I could never get Surrender to Madness to work.. I’m not really into playing wild either
Battle Scars (Vlad/Braum) decks

Yasuo Level-Up Requirement: Stun AND Recall or Stun OR Recall?

Good deck for low level climbing?

For what concerns current Witchwood, I think I'll miss Dire Frenzy, Houndmaster Shaw and Earthen Might, all cards I really enjoyed toying with.

Rotten Appelbaum.
A decently statted neutral Taunt thst heals.
Has found it's way into any number of decks as a nice utility card and solid mid game curve filler.

Not quite that late here. You could always save it until next weekend and be like "Wow! I have an entire weekend to try this out!".

Abominable Bowman works great in albatross hunter.. Nine Lives + Necromechanic for 2 birds is lovely.
Edit- I just noticed it said standard.. I mostly play wild and I have only one mechathun deck for standard.
