Or, if nothing else? Print an equivalent of him as a replacement for one of the Legendary cards, if Edwin or Leeroy actually do get HOF'd. Look, it would be better than nothing.

They'll reprint him every year or so, and that's the best way to meet in the middle for F2P's and Blizzard. Print out a new card so resources have to be invested into it.

The technology exists to make this card actually happen and it would be a shame to see it die when Zayle, Shadow Cloak rotates out next year.

As for moving him to the classic set, he may well be the first. They haven't done it yet but he and Zayle definitely belong there.

  • Barrier and Surviving Damage

    Quote From OldManSanns

It works the same for Tough.  And I imagine a 0-mana Thermongenic Beam.

I can see the logic:  the unit was assigned damage; the amount of damage happened to be 0.  To go back to your example: if I had a Crimson Curator out, you cast Grasp of the Undying on it, and then I burst a Prismatic Barrier, I think the game would assign -0 HP to the Curator, +0 HP to your nexus, and grant me a crimson card.  Similarly, if you Chain Vest instead, I think the game would assign -2 HP to the Curator and +2 HP to your nexus.

The thing that bugs me a little is that frostbite works differently: 0 attack units don't strike, so they never technically deal damage which is apparently different from dealing 0 damage.  It's a bit far out, but that's the reason why brittle steel can stop a Teemo/runecard]vor Ezreal effect.

Frostbite makes sense though, because units specify that they must strike in order to deal damage. A unit with 0 attack is unable to strike so it's never classified as "dealing damage"

  • Animation Speeds are Increasing with the Next Legends of Runeterra Patch

I approve of faster animations. The thing that irks me the most, though, is that (just like in Hearthstone) your timer to finish your turn keeps running even if you can't do anything because an animation is playing. I think that's bad design and hope that Riot can figure out a way to prevent it. The most intuitive solution would be to pause the timer whenever an animation is running, but that might be difficult to implement now with the variable framerates.

I never really played LoL, but this seems like a fun exercise regardless. Here's my take on Pyke:

    Pyke Champion card

I do really like the thought of "when I kill, Rally"--it reminds me a bit of HS Gonk Druid.  But I fear your numbers are way overstat'ed--challenger elusive regeneration would be busted on its own for 3 mana before even considering the ability to challenge a low-health unit and rally.

Yeah - Pyke isn't supposed to be able to gain life (which is why my leveled up version only gains attack). If I had a reasonable way to template that on the card, I probably would. Really, I want him to be able to pick off one or two tiny units in a turn, but as is, you're right that with a burst speed health buff he'd be massively OP.

  • Good deck for low level climbing?

Another day, another cardgame in which Kaladin plays absolutely perfectly yet is hardstuck at low ranks because his opponents always  have the perfect answers and topdecks.

Can you limit your shenanigans to the salt-thread and not litter the rest of the forums with additional threads? Thanks.

  • The Hearthstone Cards We're Going to Miss When Year of the Dragons Ends - The Witchwood Edition

Shudderwock needs a Raza-style nerf before going to wild, or a new type of tech card to prevent infinite Shudderwock.

Dirty Rat alone is not a good bet.

Here's an unusual one to mention: Arcane Dynamo. I used it a little on Big Spell Mage back in the day, but it has come up again in the past six months for Rez Priest. Need a third Mass Rez or Plague of Death for later? Against warlocks stacking multiple N'zoth or Death Knight hero card, druids running the new Ysera or their 6/8 reborn taunt, or other decks that can just continue to pile big minions, It's worth the awkward 3/4, especially if you're already playing the quest.

  • Barrier and Surviving Damage

Yeah, I'd agree that this doesn't feel intuitive. Then again, it's not like Crimson decks are overrunning the meta right now, so stealth-nerfing them is probably unnecessary *_*

  • Good deck for low level climbing?

In my opinion, anything dependent on a specific champion to work properly isn't a good fit for ladder. Decks that build around champions like Jinx and Yasuo basically just write off any game in which they don't draw their centrepiece and are easy prey for decks that pack proper removal. Heimer decks are about the only exception, and that's because they basically carry a thousand and one tools to protect themselves, and even then it's sketchy.

  • Obligatory petition to move Whizbang to the Classic set.

I figure they'll just continually reprint him like they did with Zayle. I mean, real talk - the number of people who play more than half a dozen games with Whizbang in a month can't be all that high, proportionately...

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

Recently I had some fun with Khadgar and Conjurer's Calling when cast on a Khartut Defender. So turn 6 you play the Khartut, opponent does not want to trade into it but just adds minions to board and you explode the board with Khadgar + conjurer's. Since the deathrattle also produces 2 minions now, you suddenly have 7 minions on board and stat-wise some 30 mana equivalent for an investment of 7 mana. And a lot of healing which is also nice for a mage these days. Easier to pull of then the mountain giant since that one almost always gets removed.

  • Wild Quest Exodia Mage

    Pro

Cool deck, how is it performing? I'm currently playing with a quest deck built around Mana Cyclone for the quest, Flamewaker for board control and giants for the kill. Your deck looks rather control-oriented... I like it, thanks for sharing!

  • Barrier and Surviving Damage

I can see both sides here, but I agree with meisterz that the barrier negating the damage entirely would be more intuitive (so basically emphasizing a difference between zero damage and no damage). Even though you could argue that an amount of 0 damage is still damage, I don't find that very convincing.

From a design standpoint, I'd say the idea is that Crimson followers trigger an effect when they suffer a wound; when they're hit with a wet noodle and take 0 damage as a result, their ability shouldn't trigger.

I can see why Sanns would be unhappy about the Frostbite situation, but personally, I think that having 0-attack units not strike at all in battle is fine from both a design and mechanical standpoint. It doesn't have anything to do with Frostbite, but is instead a fundamental rule of the game itself.

  • Good deck for low level climbing?

    Quote From kaladin

do i just craft the mushroom cloud deck?  that seems to always win.  is that any good?  i dont think it's my play style but i am running out of patience.  I will play anything that can actually win and not require lucky topdecks.

Again, I'm far from the best person to point out what is meta and what isn't, but I'm pretty sure mushroom cloud decks are pretty bad except against control decks. Since control decks want to draw a lot of cards, those poison puffcaps screw them over. So if you're facing a lot of control decks and you're fine with spending the amount of resources you need, I'd say go ahead and plant some mushrooms.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

    Quote From Zwane

Wasnt this supposed to be the hearthstone salt thread? And not the runeterra one?

Well, as far as I know there is no salt thread for LoR, so it makes sense that LoR frustration is posted here as well.

Also, I really don't get why this would ever be a problem to anyone. It's not like people are shitposting or interrupting in a relevant or unrelated forum thread, they are shitposting in a thread that is specifically made for shitposts.

And I get that some people are trying to help other people who seem overly frustrated because of a card game, but that's not what most of those frustrated people are here for. They just need a place where they can let go of their frustration without other people telling them that they should calm down or play something else.

  • Obligatory petition to move Whizbang to the Classic set.

    Pro

I don't have Whizbang and usually don't use the deck recipes, so I can't really say something about his viability. But if they should move him to classic, I would actually consider crafting him and stop paying cash for standard. I'm playing wild most of the time and only coming back to standard to toy with the new cards and grind those hero portraits on lower ranks. I guess Whizbang would be sufficient for that, wouldn't he (assuming I don't care which hero I grind with)?

  • Yasuo Level-Up Requirement: Stun AND Recall or Stun OR Recall?

In the meantime, I had a 2nd game with Yasuo where my 2 early-game Navori Conspirators didn't count towards his level-up. Then I played Yasuo on round 4 or 5, played a stun spell the next turn, and that brought him up to 1/5.

I reported both scenarios in as much detail as I could via support ticket, and they told me they forwarded the data to the development team. Fingers crossed they'll be able to snuff out the bug.

  • Obligatory petition to move Whizbang to the Classic set.

But again, how much impact will this make to hearthstone in general? Probably none at all.

Again, I completely agree. He's just an extreme budget option. Nothing more, nothing less.

Regardless? I don't see any reason why the option shouldn't be available for anyone who wants it.

But in all seriousness, there's a good reason why the argument "Hearthstone is too expensive to play/have fun with" is not easily countered with Whizbang the Wonderful. I think that suffices as a counter argument.

And I agree with you too, my good sir. Whizbang is an extremely limited way to play the game and is no substitution for actually deckbuilding. Nor do I feel he was ever meant to be.

I'm certainly not proposing Whizbang as this great solution to make Hearthstone F2P for everyone, nobody will have a reason to give Blizzard money ever again! Nor do I think anybody pro-Whizbang believes he's a miracle cure or anything close to it. He's just a very affordable option to potentially give you a lot of other tools to experiment with, nothing more and nothing less. It's something that makes sense to have in the game, that's already in the game, that won't require them to change any mechanics or anything (apart from modify deck recipes, which is something they already do with each expac up to this point anyway) So... why take him out? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

  • Got Away with It!

I' m very proud of me for having this one. Golden borders are the best!

  • Obligatory petition to move Whizbang to the Classic set.

Lol, you get a thumbs up from me simply for resorting to that technicality. With that definition even the basic set is 'competitive'.

But in all seriousness, there's a good reason why the argument "Hearthstone is too expensive to play/have fun with" is not easily countered with Whizbang the Wonderful. I think that suffices as a counter argument.
