So I just cracked the Legend Barrier for the first time. Usually I don't bother because I don't wanna spend the effort only to get a bad losing streak and get stuck between ranks forever.....but apparently Embiggen Druid is so OP right now that I could just roll through most of my games.
It might just be one of the least counterable decks I have ever played. Sure, it depends on draw RNG a lot, but if it gets a good curve there's basically fuckall you can do to stop it.
So yeah, I guess I'll be enjoying my extra rewards at the end of the month and won't need to bother going for Rank 5 next season.
Also I'm gonna have as much fun as I can with Winged Guardian before it gets nerfed into oblivion. Turns out there'S a reason why Soggoth the Slitherer was statted the way he was.
The interaction between Overwhelm and Barrier is working as intended: Overwhelm does damage to the Nexus for whatever amount exceed the blocking minion's health. Said minion taking or preventing damage has nothing to do with how Overwhelm works actually. Also, if you Stun or Recall the blocking minion than the attacking Overwhelm one will do full damage to the Nexus because the "placeholder" that stay in place of the blocking is considered has having 0 health.
Using the Oracle's Eye to see the outcome of an attack can be very usefull, expcially now in the beginning when some interaction are not so clear (I myself have lost couple of match because things didn't go as I thinked - and because I forget to check with the blue eye).
For me perosnally, it's not the difficulty or even the price (paid for it all in gold, like every repectable F2P casual player I have plenty of spare gold), it's the adventures, starting from Dalaran Heist which was insanely fun and with HUGE replayability value (it literally takes weeks of too much free time, 9 characters * 5 chapters * 2 Because of anomaly mode * 2 because of heroic = 180 variations before even going into the hero power and starting deck combinations) it started going downhill. Saviours of Uldum had 4 characters and 4 chapters, I never even got to unlock half of the starting treasures before I've had enough.
This time? No choosing class, no choosing cards, absolutely 0 replayability value? It feels like the decision was to put as little effort into the adventure while making it as hard to play ranked without buying it (becuase while a lot of the cards are either plain bad or mediocre, some are going to become staples in decks, but guess what? none of them are in the first free chapter)
I totally get why people are complaining. Going backward is never a good thing (reminds me a little of Rumble run that came after Dungeon Run but on a much greater scale) and while I'm F2P so any free content I get is fine, people are actually forced to buy a sub-par single player content. I literaaly stared at the screen after completing the normal diffuculty because I couldn't believe that was it.
Yeah it seems like a bug.. Overwhelm is too strong in my opinion anyway specially Alpha Wildclaw, which is just stronger than Darius (but another region which is normally not paired with noxus outside of the vlad/braum deck).
I am fine if it get nerfed since it doesn't match the expected results.
Remember that you can use the eye on the left side of the board to see the outcome of your plays. I admit that I often forget about this feature as well but it is great for situations where you're not exactly sure how a certain interaction works.
I'm still not ready for reviews, but promise I will be for the next expansion. I think it's really nice we got some fresh new cards to play with, hope they will do more expansion/adventure mix-up in the future.
Overwhelm also works if they are killed/recalled b4 the attack is finalized. In other words, if that blue placeholder that usually prevents all damage is up, you take full damage anyway. I run a Overwhelm recall deck and its highly effective.
This is a good thing to bring up because in one of the loading screen tips it specifically mentions that Overwhelm works when the enemy minion actually dies. It begs the question of if it is intended to operate this way.
We have 3 free Expedition entries? I thought we got only one token.
1 token is redeemable for 3 individual runs, and each run has 2 trials so its up to 6 attemtps total.
EDIT: OK I would have sworn when I popped my token it said something about having 3 Expeditions, but no--it is 1 per token. Sorry everyone for the false information.
I honestly think skydiving instructor is pretty powerful. It is two bodies for one card, plus it gets rid of a bad topdeck. You mentioned that a combo wouldn't be reliable because you wouldn't always draw it, but if you draw your one drop on turn one you probably won't be very upset. You don't need to get the perfect draw each time for this to be worth it.
I agree with Kansas. I see Skydiving Instructor being a very powerful card. You cannot underestimate the power of removing your 1-cost minions to improve your late game draws.
I recommend you to play all(3) Expeditions until Tuesday to be able to collect champion cards. It will be also wiser even you don't like draft mode because it costs only 4000k Shards which Champion Wildcards is also same cost and it is guaranteed to get a champion card even you lose your drafts and Expedition runs will give you bonus experience points when you finish them.
Its ok if I don't do all 3 Expeditions by this Tuesday, right? I've tried, but they take so long and I'd rather take my time and enjoy myself than grind to squeeze every drop of XP possible.
Yeah, barrier in general is weird. It's worded like it gives immunity for 1 turn, but it acts like HS divine shield but without preventing "strike" effects. I too wish they were more clear about this.
I am sorry to hear that. that is really unlucky. I hope you are not giving up on the deck. Give it another try, don't be so tight on the combo pieces (meaning, use them when you can), finish the quest as soon as possible and seek victory not with the Leeroy combo, but with the Grave Horror one. Hope this helps.
Exactly, useful only for tracking stats, otherwise very clunky (UI) and unnecessary for LoR type of gameplay. I'd like Tracker captures gameplay like HS Deck Tracker.
Anyway, I cannot describe how good this card game is. They were telling us how every move matters and they were correct. I already experienced so many dramatic games in which a single point of mana, a single point of damage or waste of a removal... decided the whole thing! Not even talking about numerous ways to exploit order and sequences.
Been playing vs friends and found this out when his 18/9 Darius hit on of my minions which had a barrier and still killed my nexus.. I assumed i was able to buy myself another round because barrier negates damage to that unit. In my mind i took this as "if something hits it it deals no damage". This was not the outcome. I lost. And made this to warn others. I lowkey hate that feature.
Blackrock Mountain
Guys, if I don't have Blackrock Mountain expansion, I can't buy individual chapters for 700 gold. correct?
First Time Legend with Big Peepee Druid
How'd you enjoy 90% of your matches being mirrors, cause this deck is literally the only thing I've seen the past few days.
Back to wild we go!

Probably not about you or the riddle, just a general lack of interest.
Anyway, is it Hoard Pillager?

Barrier is plenty strong as it is, I disagree with Overwhelm not working because of Barrier. Shen/Fiora decks need no hidden buffs like this.
