  • Legends of Runeterra - Weekly Recap Jan. 24

    Quote From Lycaon

Could not join the beta because I live in Thailand and it took support a very long time to answer my ticket about about login problems. I was not clear enough that some regions were not in the beta. Bad communication not a good sign: I'll stay away from the game.

be aware that the game is very new and there are tonnes of tickets about a lot of stuff going on.. in my experience with league support they tend to answer within 24 hours with quick replies

  • Quest troubles

Oops, idk why I did think zed is from shadow isles, my bad.
But Jinx still does not work, played 5 games today, and summoned jinx at least two time but it wont budge :/
I guess it some kind of a flaw on their side.

    Thanks for the reply!

EDIT: After a while (2 hours or so) my quest progress moved while I was playing expedition without any of those 2 factions. I guess it is just really delayed for some reason.

  • Jinx Level-up Timing

    1. She Who Wanders only obliterates followers, not champions, so Jinx should always be unaffected by its effect. It used to also kill champions during the first preview patch, but since it was obviously way too strong of an effect Riot nerfed it (the card didn't get nicknames like 'She Who Wins' and 'She Who Yeets' for nothing).

    2. Not sure about this one, the only thing I can think of is that the opponent played the last remaining card at the very last moment possible before Jinx was killed, but since you're 90% sure they didn't I wouldn't know. Do you remember what the last card was? Maybe it was another Jinx. :p

As far as I know Jinx immediately levels up as soon as the last card leaves the hand. Its effect doesn't even have to activate yet, but the player has to at least have confirmed it as a play (meaning that you cannot 'pretend' to play a spell, level up Jinx, and then decide not to play the spell and put it back in your hand).

  • Quest troubles

I think I experienced something similar two days ago when I had to play Noxian units, but in one of my games it didn't count any, though after that it continued to count them normally. Haven't had any problems with quests besides that though. By the way, you say that Zed didn't matter for the Shadow Isles or Piltover & Zaun quest but that's because he is an Ionian champion, so maybe that's why the count didn't go up? (Jinx should still count though)

  • Say Goodbye to Free Hearthstone Packs via Twitch Drops - Esports Moves to YouTube

    Quote From Zelgadis

the only game he seems to be passionate about is making as much money as possible. Which is probably also the motivation behind this move.

Well yes, that was kind of my point. The best way to make money is to limit market competition/diversity. This is hardly ever in the end-users interest.

Twitch is indeed owned by Amazon, so there's no real difference on corporate size behind the streaming service. That aside though, Twitch is still marginal compared to YouTube when it comes to online video streaming - even for live content (although not necessarily for e-sports). If more big players follow suit and move e-sports from Twitch to YT, Twitch will ultimately become another MySpace.

Had to double check today's date...

  • Quest troubles

I have a quest to play 6 champions from Shadow Isles or Piltover & Zaun. I played yesterday and managed to get 3 out  of 6 champions and then it stopped counting. Today it is all the same, I'm still on 3/6 and it won't move, doesn't matter how many jinxes or zed I have played.
Similarly, I got a quest today to play 20 demacia units and I'm playing that Jinx/Zed beginner deck and suddenly (in a fifth game or so) it did push that quest to 3/20 without any sense (no demacia units in deck). Anybody experiencing stuff like this and do you know where can I report bugs?

  • Random Champion card removed from vaults

you will always get a champion out of the rewards from expedition so you in fact  getting more rewards this way that the random champ besides if you get 7 wins in any of the trials you get another expedition token  this change is a super good for us .

Btw where did you hear that you get another expedition token when you get 7 wins? I got 7 wins in my first expedition this week (yay!) but I didn't get another token, just a lot of cards and shards.

Same here. I also don't recall hearing that, though I do vaguely recall being guaranteed to get enough shards to buy another run if you get past a certain threshold. I forget what numbers are required, though.

It requires 3000 shards to enter an expedition, which is exactly the same amount that is required to craft a specific champion card. I don't remember if we started at 0 shards but I currently have about 5000, which includes shards I've gotten so far from region rewards, so I would not be surprised if I got exactly 3000 shards from my 7-win expedition.

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

Can we please nerf Druid with all its kinds to the ground, better option remove it at all and include hunters while we're at it

  • Jinx Level-up Timing

I've been having a blast playing for the past 4 days. Wrapping my head around the timing of spells and skills in this game has been a process, but I think I've got it figured out pretty well by now.

One exception that I don't quite grasp is exactly how Jinx's level-up timing works. There were 2 scenarios that ran completely counter to what I had anticipated would happen:

    1. Opponent had a 4-attack Jinx on the board and 1 card in hand. I play She Who Wanders, obliterating both Jinx and the card in hand (which emptied the opponent's hand). I'm pretty sure the skill animation showed Jinx being taken out. Yet upon resolution of the skill, Jinx leveled up and returned to the field - now with 5 attack, obviously. What's the deal? Removal of all cards from both players' boards and hands should occur at the same time, so after the skill resolves, Jinx should be out of play and thus unable to level up. If there is a fixed order in which cards are being removed, it should be board first, hand second (because that's the order it's worded in on the card).

    2. I'm can't recall the exact setup of this one, but same as above, the opponent had a Jinx on the field and 1 card in hand. I attacked and challenged Jinx with my buffed Braum, killing her. I'm around 90% sure that the opponent didn't play the card from his hand when he confirmed blockers. My Braum killed Jinx, and again, I'm 90% sure the opponent then (i.e. after the battle had concluded) played the card from their hand, and suddenly, boom - Jinx level-up animation, and she returns to the field as a level 2.

Can anybody enlighten me as to how her level-up timing works in detail? On a side note, I've already read the tip to check the all-seeing eye more often to see how chains will resolve. I definitely should've used this feature in case 1 at least.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    Pro

I think the Yeti-line refers to a minion which costs 4 and has worse stats than Chillwind Yeti. My first guess is Arathi Weaponsmith, although the line about the draft might imply that it's a neutral card so everybody can draft it.

Edit: We're also probably looking for a common, since the effect is "commonly" used.
Edit 2: If you're okay with that, I'd like to add Dark Iron Dwarf as my neutral guess.

  • Mobalytics Deck Tracker

I'll probably want a deck tracker when I get around to grinding up in ranked, primarily for keeping track of minion counts (have I cleared two Blacksmiths or three?). Won't be for a while though, and if the UI is wonky I don't think I'll bother until a better version is released.

Hopefully from somewhere other than mobalytics >.>

  • Overwhelm does damage to nexus even if the opponent has a barrier..

Agreed, working as intended given it's established Overwhelm will do its damage so long as the strike happens, irrespective of what happens to the minion in question (killed via spell, recalled, stunned etc.).

There are always going to be mechanics which don't -quite- work as you expected them to, that's part of playing a card game. Even YGO, which tends towards phenomenal amounts of text on its cards, has extensive errata to cover off various interactions. That doesn't mean the mechanic isn't working as intended, simply that you didn't anticipate it.

It also makes perfect sense to me, rationally. Barrier is a targeted effect, and it protects the minion. You're not giving your Nexus Barrier, after all.

  • Account blocked

Blizzard are horribly over-sensitive when it comes to login issues. Having had to reclaim an account after my phone (with my authenticator on it) was stolen, I recall having to go through security measures that are tighter than the ones I use for work - and I work for a national government ¬.¬.

  • Yasuo...again is a troll

    Quote From notagain

Thanks Riot for making Yasuo a complete troll in your new game too.  WTG!

So... so much confusion. Do you think Riot reads messages on an unaffiliated fansite? Do you realise that your thread is meaningless salt? Do you not see every Yasuo in every League game feed like a maniac (because I know I do)?

I... I don't know what to do with this...

Discovered today (though I should have known already, probably) that the weekly vault is capped at three Diamonds. Hmph. Roll on Tuesday.

  • whos good idea was it to make those puff cards

    Quote From FortyDust
    Quote From Bystekhilcar

    - To the person who suggested healing was a counter - healing is actually quite poorly handled in LoR in my view, at least in this early stage. Healing from spells seems to be valued phenomenally highly, judging by the cost of spells with healing built-in (and the low values of those heals). It seems significantly more efficient to play a lifesteal minion and then buff it, even if that minion only gets a single hit off - and that has the potential to stick around and continue to heal.

For what it's worth, I think a lot of people consider lifesteal to be a form of healing. I certainly do!

I'm afraid you misunderstand. It's not that I don't consider lifesteal to be healing. My issue is that lifesteal-based healing seems far cheaper than spell-based healing. In theory, lifesteal vs healing from spells should be roughly similarly costed because it's reasonable to expect a minion to get a single hit in, on average. The fact that a minion can potentially hit more than once is balanced out by the potential for the minion to be removed by effects and not get a hit in at all. Instead, though, Lifesteal as a keyword seems to be pretty cheap on minions that can get it, and can provide big chunks of healing that spells simply can't.

  • My first impressions playing LoR

I agree on both of those. I'm fairly confident Magic remains so popular entirely from its legacy, because I maintain that its design isn't particularly good at creating an entertaining experience compared to some of the newcomers.
