It has been stated so far more than once by Hearthstone developers that there is a algorithm built in matchmaker that tries to keep all players around 50% win rate.

Do you have a source for that?  In my post earlier in the thread they've been clear there isn't.

Any 50% winrate goal would be based on the idea you rank/MMR tried to pit you against players of your skill level (or deck power level at least) over time.  Perhaps that is what was referred to.

    Day: I lost count....

Game #: Lost count yet again.....

Opponent: Hundreds of Galakrond Shamans too many.....

Game after Game after Game..... Even in Classic... Decided to sell my soul and play the strongest Control Warrior netdeck.... To no avail.... Apparently according to statistics Galakrond shaman somehow has like 70%+ winrate against control warrior...... or like any control deck....

Can't wait till the nerfs!!! Aggro decks aren't supposed to easely waltz over control decks! It's supposed to be Rock-Paper-Scizzors (Aggro-Control-Combo)....

  • Should the pity timer be lower?

The legendary cards distribution is fine what is not fine is the epic card distribution.. Epics are too rare for how many you need.. There are too many bad epics for them to be as rare as they are now..

Or you know make common cards yield more dust just a small increase from 5 to 10 will go a long way...

I have often thought the same thing especially when you see the purple glow and are disappointed by the crappy card you get.

Only thing is though, if epics are always great then they kind of become must have which actually makes the game more expensive.

I don't like this version, it feels like the mech package is useless against shaman

  • Should the pity timer be lower?

Personally, I'd be happy if they lowered it to 30.

Or made epics impossible to get dups (like legendaries).

  • Wild players: how do you still enjoy it?

Got to Legend with my own build of Dragon Reno Mage, so it's not all lost yet. Playing some Quest Reno Mage in Legend, which is also a lot of fun. (Well, maybe not so much for my opponents).

Started on rank 2 when the expansion hit and the most frequent opponent is Pirate Warrior while the Secret Mage numbers dwindled a lot.

  • Suspicious Matchmaking

It has been stated so far more than once by Hearthstone developers that there is a algorithm built in matchmaker that tries to keep all players around 50% win rate.

The reasoning behind it is that players of lower skill level need help to win some matches. Winning games makes players feel good about themselves and so they keep playing and paying for the game. If "bad" players would lose constantly, they'll eventually rage quit the game and most likely wouldn't ever return to it. Every lost player is potentially one lost paying customer, so every "free to play" game out there has a variety of ways to try to keep as many players playing it as possible.

By playing highly polarized deck like OTK Paladin, you're only making it easy for matchmaker to try to fit you within that 50% "rule". If you want to climb more reliably, turn to the dark side and play Galakrond Shaman and you'll have a much easier time.

Just 1x and it's the best secret to potentially deal some damage to your opponent when you have no board not named Explosive Trap. You want it just in case your Explosive Trap is already out and you have Phase Stalker.

Good. I'd like to play Battlegrounds on tablet, or perhaps, my phone. Tried on an android tablet and it's not crashing, but you're guaranteed to lose via animations. Get a triple, lose the game. You're also seeing your opponent purchase triples while the match just starts on your end.

Best thing about Battlegrounds: it doesn't really feel like playing against people sometimes, which is chill in comparison to ladder shenanigans. More like a slot machine with some RTS/RPG elements.

    Hi,
    Why the 2 x Misdirection ?

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

Remember when getting Keleseth into Shadowstep was considered an insane highroll? Well, now you can do it for zero mana with barely any downside... and you can draft multiple of them. Druid is so insane in arena rn, same as Hunter. Play Embiggen and win, if you fuck up just use Ultimate Infestation and win lol. Fuck this. Also, when can we ban Faceless Hoerupttor? Stupid ass card that has way too much tempo and value.

  • Should the deck size be increased to slow down general tempo?

I agree with almost all of this and I do play some high tempo decks myself and I find it the same I either steamroll because of  my early hand or I flat out have no replies to some of the tempo switches. is my idea the solution probably not. is there a time orientated problem imo most likely

  • Standard Meta Report #15 - Fixing (Yet Another) Shaman Meta

That would probably nuke the quest. Probably best just to increase the requirement to finish up the quest from 6 to 8 battlecry minions.

Better to just simply not print good battlecry cards for shaman. Or HoF Mind Control Tech.

  • Should the deck size be increased to slow down general tempo?

well some very good points all round I think and I wasn't sold on the idea hence why i was asking.

to the people who downvoted me and will a bit more soon ok so tempo is not a problem yet the most complained about things at the mo are about tempo or the time it takes to do something or the sharp tempo shifts,  so what would you suggest to remedy these problems?

Nerfs because we are not talking about single cards we are talking about groups of cards that when played together outright win the game if a few of these are in your opening hand you have  pretty much won already.

  • [Legend] Leprosy SMOrc Hunter

Yes, yes it is. I built it solely to counter Shaman and Rogue, it beat them both more often than not.

Guessing the Shaman / Dragon nerfs are hitting tomorrow as well...?

It says later this week, right there in the post. If they were in this patch the notes would be here (as it would all be finalised and live).

Yeah, I don't think Shadow needed any additional removal tools. Especially such a cheap MASS removal spell!

  • Eternal - Promises by Firelight Spoilers Dec. 16

Yes, the concept is cool, but it will take some dedication to get it to work. It's just begging for graveyard shenanigans in Shadow. =)

  • Should the deck size be increased to slow down general tempo?

Deck size and the tug of war between high tempo and slower control really have nothing to do with each other.

You'd have to overhaul the mana resource system of the entire game to really address what you're getting at directly.

To digress a little I will say that there was once a time when at least one of the tempo playstyles (midrange) almost did not exist in the game at all for many seasons (outside of Midrange Hunter). People also very often have this compulsory need to constantly redirect the game to a main control meta, ignoring that such a meta actually makes combos & OTKs stronger (which I love, but many players hate) and many classes do not have legitimate non-tempo means to build decks around, such as control paladin.

    Yay! improvements are always nice.
