Welp, seeing as how Shaman is still ruling the ladder, I switched back to Battlegrounds to bide my time for the nerfs. I forgot how much I loved this mode, so I opened up a thread to talk about it.
Well, to start things off, I want to ask a question: how would you balance the Battlegrounds?
I was trying to think of something and my solution was: ”what if we removed Toxfin?” Seeing as how Murlocs are really strong right now, and perhaps even OP, I was wondering how to fix the problem and thought of this. It lessens the chances of Amalgam getting poisonous and weakens Murlocs quite a lot. Would this kill off the murloc archetype completely, or would it help balance the game by nerfing Amalgams and Murlocs at the same time? What are your thoughts? This also opens up the possibility of Demons becoming the strongest archetype, but who knows?
Also, Dragons are entering the Battlegrounds soon! I’m very interested to see how that can shake things up.
I'm apparently in the minority here, but I really dislike the balance strategy of late. I used to admire what a lot of people have whined about previously - back in the vanilla days, Blizzard were very reluctant to perform any direct balance changes.
That, in my opinion, is the desirable state of affairs. It is a source of continual frustration to me that so many cards have been nerfed - and often not because of any actual balance reason, but because people continually whine about them. The biggest example is probably Quest Rogue on release - barely got above a 50% winrate at any time, and yet got nerfed into non-viability just because people were whining about it. And then ate multiple other nerfs over time, too.
The desirable state of affairs in any card game - hell, any game at all - is for players to find their own solutions. I've gotten to Legend multiple times almost entirely off the back of hating on the most popular decks. Let the meta resolve balance issues, don't just nerf anything that looks like it's doing well before players can react to it.
Unfortunately, that state of affairs is not directly conducive of more people playing (and therefore more money being spent), because people like to whine about things that aren't really problems.
So I was beginning to reply and was intending to say something like "I usually agree with you but in this case Galakrond Shaman according to HSReplay has winrates over 60% which is really oppressive", except then I went there to confirm that it was still the case. It is but... it is steadily trending down. 64.61% on launch (which sounds ridiculous), down to 60.02% now. Still crazy high, but a) early season meta is full of all sorts of homebrew and decks that people are trying to make work but are simply terrible (not sure what the current equivalents are, but many times that Blizzard have pushed Discolock for example and people have tried it to no success at all) so a strong deck will feast on those.
So yeah, I agree with you, it's too early and the meta is finding a way it seems.
That said, I have played with it, and I have played against it, and in both cases I'm no sure how I would have beaten it, it seems to be strong all game long. I really REALLY hope they don't take it to the ground though because it's fun. 1/1 rushing dudes on Invoke would be an option but that would feel SO bad. Capping the battlecry minions to 6/6? Might feel fairer but might also take it to the ground.
Faceless Corruptor is pretty strong but I'm not convinced it's OP yet. People keep saying it's a 5-mana 10/8, but you need to spend at least 1-mana to produce a minion or token of some kind for Faceless to target.
So 5 mana 10/8 rush = OP, but 6 mana 10/8 rush = balanced?
So far so good, not perfect winrate, but a solid 56% winrate in 60 games, also, gladly I'm not facing so many shamans... Worth noting, I'm low rank, 15 to be honest, and 10 of the games were in casual for testing, but I feel pleased with the deck right now.

100% agreed!!
Too many spoiled kids just netdecking and/or expecting for their greedy decks to have 100% WR over everything else..
C'mon, guys!! It has just been 3 (THREE) FUCKING DAYS!!!

While I like how quickly they are reacting, at the same time, I have the unpopular opinion that they might be moving too quickly on this one.
But I'm probably wrong, and it will be interesting to see what decks can start to show up instead of every single match being Shaman. (seriously, I don't think I've played against another class in the past 2 days)
When I look at the website from my mobile I can view the website normally everything loads correctly.
When I try to access the website thru Internet Explorer from the laptop the website looks like having a white border and I am unable to interact with individual decks.

It has infuriated me since Un'goro decided mage should become the "magic is super random" class and gave them Primordial Glyph. So many toxic decks have relied on incredible discover effects that can loop.
well thats magic right there. need to beat shaman? easy go full aggro. so...if full aggro is the way to go, which btw i have nothing against aggro, but then why am i playing a new expansion?
every aggro deck feels the same. i like to win sure, i play aggro sure, but it has to have something new and exciting. if theres no synergy or combos etc, if all there is is go face and play every green card i have then why am i playing standard ladder?
i can just play mech buff pally, secret mage odd pally pirate warrior odd rogue in wild and get the same results. i want to play something new exciting something that requires me to hold cards in hand, choose what path to take in each turn. Sure it has to have consistency, the deck needs to be solid cause i also like winning, but any of this is hard countered by the current shamanstone.
actually shaman galakrond is warlock galakrond's weakest matchup currently. The corrupt elementalist, huge taunts from dragon pack and invocation of frost make for a hyper defensive deck.

no! MY ODD SHAMAN will get nerfed!
Midrange: Galakrond Warrior
I've been playing a more control-oriented version in Standard. Is it worth playing this in Wild just for a single card?
The Best Galakrond Decks From Descent of Dragons Day 1
i think rogue and warrior little lower than i expect but maybe it because they have lot of version and other one just have straight game plan

Hearthstone is a game, and as a Game Designer I know that the game must be fun for anyone involved.
So, even if something is not above "50%" winrate but makes the player experience bad it will/should be changed.
At least that what the designers should do.

hah! this is too funny. somehow, I feel there's a slight chance they will do something of this nature and nerf something older than the DoD set
Deck Market

Same. If anything, Faceless Corruptor should be nerfed. Hard. Card is just straight up unfair.
Infinite Decorations!
eh, still had fun, but good to know.

Galakrond Warlock totally useless?
Been having good success with it! Havent refined the deck though, but it has some potential. No tier 1 potential but maybe 2 or high tier 3
