I don't get why people call the warlock galakrond bad... People say getting 2 1/1's is bad.... BUT THATS ODD PALADIN IN A NUTSHELL. I'm having trouble understanding why people call odd paladin a problem (Wild ofc) and the warlock galakrond bad.

Odd Paladin is strong because it has that hero power from turn 1. Justicar Trueheart didn't see play in Paladin when it was in standard because getting that hero power in the mid to late game isn't impactful enough. This is just a repeat of that, but it's extra hard in this meta to find a place for a tempo oriented Warlock.

That's not true, Justicar Trueheart was staple in Midrange Paladin.

I'm calling Galakrond, the Wretched a semi-sleeper card. It just needs that little extra support to be competitively viable. The Zoo approach feels underwhelming to me, but maybe some sort of Midrange version might pop up soon.

Hoping for nerfs to mct, faceless coruptor, mogu, dragon maw poacher, and some warrior cards as well..

I think mind control tech is going to be their next HoF target.

Care to share that Lock deck? I’ve been pretty disappointed with the Warlock Galakrond so I’d love to try something that works.

    Are  there any buff rumors?

  • Hearthstone 16.0.3 Update - Bug Fixes, Arena and Battlegrounds Balance Changes

Yeah that's it probably. It was too bad of an offer since its almost impossible to pick a full "class only" deck in Arena.

To be honest, I don't think shaman need a big nerf, as strong as they sound, they are still weak against tempo/aggro decks, and they are slower if they don't get the perfect draws.

I've beaten many shamans with my Galakrond warlock deck, cause I go very aggressive, and shaman will eventually have an empty hand  to remove my minions despite being a galakrond shaman, while I refill my board with decent amount of cards in hand.

But I guess shaman is strong against the other classes.

I might would consider buffing some cards that isn't shaman(or warlock) cards to balance it up

For ppl wanting to punish Shaman you can try a reno mage deck; Apxvoid uses one to crush them.

I am still seeing ads inside of posts. I appreciate your working to fix this but it hasn't helped.

    So, open them...

  • Hearthstone Balance Changes Confirmed For Next Week

The problem is that it's nearly impossible to play for tempo against Galakrond Shaman - the constant barrage of 2/1 rush minions (and 5/4 rush minions) during the early and midgame regularly overpowers anyone who's trying to play for board, and their late game is a wall of 8/8 minions that make typical tempo-oriented classes (Rogue, Hunter) irrelevant because they have no good AOE tools to clean up that wall.

  • Wild players: how do you still enjoy it?

    Two ways:

    1. I completely agree with AngryShuckie up there - I never bother to ladder past rank 15 and ranks 20-15 *TEND* to be pretty diverse and more fun. You still of course see the occasional Secret Mage/Big Priest/etc. but they're definitely the minority compared to other decks. Also I play Wild Casual a lot because it really seems (I don't use a tracker so not positive) like the Tier 1 netdecking is much less common than in Standard, so you can run into the really funny/goofy memes and OTKs and the like.

    2. I mainly use Wild to play decks I had a lot of fun with when they were in Standard and I don't want to let them go entirely. So mainly Dragon Priest (nice power ups this expansion!), Spell Hunter, Demonlock, and Odd DK Jaina Elemental Mage. I can see Mech Warrior & Burgle Rogue getting added to the pile here once rotation hits in April. So I guess this point is mostly: play the decks you have the most fun with?

For what it's worth, I don't really think Galakrond, the Tempest needs to be nerfed at all. Yes, summoning two 8/8s is huge, and yes, getting it duplicated by Heart of Vir'naal is devastating, but the elementals can't go face immediately, and there's no shortage of big board swing cards that are beatable with AOE (e.g. Dragoncaller Alanna, Chef Nomi, etc.).

The real problem is the combination of Corrupt Elementalist, Faceless Corruptor, and (as usual) Shudderwock. These make it too easy to stop opposing early game pressure, max out your Galakrond on curve (I've played Warlock and Rogue Galakrond, and I regularly find myself stuck playing before maxing out), and then reload your entire hand and board if your opponent was lucky enough to have AOE available to clear your wall of 8/8s.

You're right that the Mutate/Mogu Fleshshaper combo is a problem too, but I doubt it will matter much if you fix the other things, and I'd say rather than change Mutate (which has useful interactions today with cards like Spirit of the Frog and Gadgetzan Auctioneer), they should do an early Hall of Fame for Shudderwock.

Once you break that package up, Galakrond, the Tempest should be beatable because with a strong control deck you can clear out their minions until you reach the late game and win (particularly since the "deal 2 to a minion" hero power isn't really all that good in the late game).

Make mutate transform a friendly minion of the same cost, not 1 cost higher. That's an easy enough fix

  • Hearthstone Balance Changes Confirmed For Next Week

Considering how they didn't even properly test "Quest + Galakrond" deck... I would suspect their play testing isn't exactly super reliable to see power levels. Also they just don't have row numbers of millions of players in testing, so they can't properly assess everything...

But yeah it was like during reveal "That seemed broken", then we got to play it and it is like "Yes it is broken"
It literally has 60-80% winrate except Mirror where it is 50% and Holy Wrath Paladin which actually just slightly favored against shaman...

  • Galakrond Warlock totally useless?

GalyLock is better than I gave it credit for, but I don't believe it will ever be able to be better than T2. (And I didn't even think it could be a T2 deck before).

Sometimes, spamming 3 minions multiple turns in a row just gets there against bad starts. Even when those minions are trash and cost 3+ mana.

But it's Galakrond battlecry is still garbage because of the extreme RNG involved.

  • Hearthstone Balance Changes Confirmed For Next Week

They removed it from Arena draft.

  • Hearthstone Balance Changes Confirmed For Next Week

They also need to change Faceless Corruptor's text. They keep printing cards that let Shudderwock copy itself.

  • Hearthstone Balance Changes Confirmed For Next Week

Transforms based on the mana cost of a minion need to be based on the cost that was paid for the minion, not its base card cost.  If you pay 5 mana for a 3/3 with a great battlecry and transform it, you get a 6 mana body, nice combo.  If you pay 0 mana for a 3/4 and transform it, you get a 1 mana body, not an 8 mana body.  That would fix the "mana cheating" issues they keep having.

  • MTG Arena - Black Lotus Returns

in the first Magic set ever there was a cycle of 1 mana instants that do 3 of something.

White would either gain 3 life or prevent 3 damage

Green would give a creature +3/+3

    Red would deal 3 damage

Black would add 3 black mana to your mana pool

And blue would draw 3 cards

Obviously some of these are waaaaay more powerful than others.

There is one thing in your post that really jumped at me and I want to reinforce

since Blizzard insists on allowing cards to discover themselves for some godforsaken reason.

This x 10. There should be a rule in place that no matter what, cards should not be able to discover themselves.
