Like many players, I was excited when Battleground was announced. However, my initial excitement was dampen when seeing the selection of heroes. Where are the iconic 9 starting heroes we are familiar with? I am intending to rectify that situation.
Things to keep in mind:
Each heroes will have multiple hero powers with the intend to represent different aspect of the class.
The Hero Power reference BASIC and CLASSIC Set only. This is because I think these are the cards that represent these heroes best. It wouldn't be Ragnaros if he doesn't deal 8 damage randomly.
Each hero will each get at least one "generic" hero power - that is, Hero Power that mainly offer board advantage and one "utility" Hero Power - a hero power help them in the game in a unique way. However, be warn that sometime the category can have some overlap.
Let's begin. Each heroes are sorted alphabetically by the name of their class:
Malfurion:
Savage Roar and Mark of the Wild are "generic" Hero Power of Malfurion. They benefit different board state and strategy for him: One allow him to go wide with high attack minions to win the early game or possibly go for low attack high health minions and then buff them up, while the second one create big beatstick to protect your valuable targets.
Wild Growth is the "utility" Hero Power for Malfurion. It allows you to be very creative with your Gold curve and create interesting break points. Fall off pretty hard in the late game just like Wild Growth.
Rexxar
Animal Companion is the "generic" Hero Power for Rexxar. Pigeonhole you into a Beast build, so Misha was chosen to give it some utility over the Curator's Hero Power
Steady Shot is the "utility" Hero Power for Rexxar. Get extremely aggressive in the mid and early game to smorc down the enemy. Good for punishing late game oriented heroes like AFK or Lich Baz'hial
Jaina Proudmore
Ice Lance is the "generic" Hero Power of Jaina. Most similar (but significantly better) than Pyramad given that the Freezing only take 0 Coin. Of course, you have to have some strategic think on which minion you really want the Health buff to land on.
Blizzard is the "utility" Hero Power of Jaina. A better version of Nefarian's Hero Power at double the cost.
Uther:
Blessing of Kings is the "generic" Hero Power of Uther. Suitable for a mid-range playstyle
Lay on Hands is the "utility" Hero Power. Heal you up, Discover a minion of your choice depend on your Tavern Tier
Anduin:
Inner Fire is the "generic" Hero Power for Anduin. This allow for strategies that value high health low attack minions to thrive.
Radiance is the "utility" Hero Power for Anduin. Allow you for more durability during the mid and late game when you're near death
Valeera
Edwin's Assisstance and Conceal iare the "Generic" Hero Power for Valeera. It allows her to have an interesting playstyle of keeping control of her board space and which minions considered to be disposable to activate the Hero Power. Conceal help protect your squish minions and allow you not to draft as many Taunt and protect them from minions like the Zapp Slywix since Stealth will prevent him from choosing them as a attack targets.
Shadowstep is the "utility" Hero Power for Valeera. Allows her to easily get a double / triple minions and combine them together.
Thrall:
Lightning Storm is the "generic" Hero Power for Thrall. Similar to Nefarian, this allow him to ping off Divine Shield and remove those pesky small minions (like that dangerous Khadgar) all while dealing some serious face damage. In exchange, this will Overload Thrall for 1 going in the Tavern.
Ancestral Spirit is the "utility" Hero Power for Thrall. Allow Deathrattle, Poisonous or just generic big upgraded minions to resummon themselves.
Gul'dan:
Corruption is the "generic" Hero Power for Gul'dan. This force your opponent to buy weak / understat unit unless they want to be sniped off by your Hero Power.
Sense Demons is the "utility" Hero Power for Gul'dan. This ensure you will have Demon synergy right off the bat.
Garrosh
Inner Rage is the "generic" Hero Power for Garrosh. A 0 mana version of Putricide's Hero Power in exchange for the minion to take damage.
Brawl is the "utility" Hero Power for Garrosh. This allow him to reduce significantly the damage taken if he lost the combat round.
It is a 'hot standard deck' because it has a better view-upvote ratio than other decks on this site. 'hot standard deck' doesn't exactly mean a good standard deck, it is just a deck on this site that has more up-votes than other decks on this site.
My suggestion (that I know will never happen but I can dream) to "solve" the disparity in Casual:
3 Modes - Ranked, Casual, and idk EXTRA Casual
Ranked is the normal ladder as it exists now, EXCEPT you get 10g for 2 wins (so 2 "megacrowns" = 10g)
Casual is exactly like it is now with the same 3 "normal" crowns = 10g
EXTRA Casual gives no gold rewards at all
That way people who are in it for the gold will stay on the ladder since the rewards would be better. People who want to play T2/T3 decks, practice, tweak "real" decks have Casual as a testing ground to do so while also getting "something" for winning. And people who want to try their ridiculous "Hey can I summon 7 Highkeeper Ras at once?!" decks without getting bodied in 6 turns have a place to do that as well since nobody would play EXTRA Casual with anything other than a fun, goofy deck.
Since the above will never happen: I've said this in other threads, but for me this is a game, meant to be fun. Yes it's competitive, but I really don't get the mentality where people don't seem to comprehend there is someone else on the other side of that screen who is maybe not playing this to be the very best (like no one ever was! Da dahn da dah!) but is instead playing to have fun. So when you're "testing" or "practicing" decks that are proven Tier 1s in Casual and you run into someone playing Silence Priest or Beast Druid, maybe you should be the nicer/bigger person, concede to them, and move on. You aren't gaining any experience or whatever since this is a deck you'll never see on the ladder, and then you can go find another opponent that will actually provide you the option to improve if that's what you're really after.
That applies to the memer too, though. In fact, it stands to reason that the person who has a problem with playing that specific match (AKA the memer) would concede and move on.
Obviously the best solution would be the “extra casual” solution, but as you said, that’s not going to happen.
Blizzard's Press Kit has the key art, but it's far from wallpaper dimensions. Couldn't find anything better, the media section of playhearthstone.com has indeed disappeared.
When I took a close look at the key art I was surprised to find a giant parrot sporting a cannon and a (very crude rendering of) an orc. The orc even has two bone coloured lines on its shoulder, so it looks like Skycap'n Kragg is making a return!
That or it is a simple Easter egg for anyone who takes the time to look at the detail of their artwork. Either way, it is a neat little inclusion.
"Descent of Dragons Art" section in the Press Kit is what ur searching for. Im using the DW art right now. It looks sick! Might switch to the the Rafaam riding a dragon, also amazing.

Necroing this thread just to gloat and feel vindicated:
"I think with Shaman currently, there's some gameplay patterns that we aren't the most happy with, I think when you do have an eight-Mana minion that you evolved [from] a Mogu Fleshshaper on turn four, that's not a healthy gameplay pattern. I think that's going to be a card going into Descent of Dragons that we're definitely going to keep an eye on.
I think when it comes to some of these effects that cheat Mana and do things like that early on, that's something that we're looking at as a team and we're making sure that these effects aren't ruining your gameplay experience. So, we are definitely aware of it, and we're definitely going to be keeping our eye on a few cards going into the next expansion to see how their power level shakes out." - Alec Dawson
Even if they end up not nerfing Mogu, it's just mighty ironic to hear game devs echo the kinds arguments that get you dismissed as a whiny loser by a certain section of the community.
I mean, that's the nature of an argument, some people will disagree until proven wrong. And since that happened now...I guess I win?
Well to be fair we all lost, since we had to endure this situation until now and we will have to see Mogu Fleshshaper + Mutate for another 1 month and a half
yeah, but honestly it doesn't really matter that much now because Hare + Evolve is even worse. Really this whole "blast from the past" was kind of stupid idea from the start. At least given the cards they ended up choosing.
I'm honestly less angry about losing to Shaman right now, because the highrolling BS is more consistent so it doesn't feel like I got cheesed by RNG everytime

Is that really how this works? I thought the pool was shared in a sense everyone pick from the selection of same minions not from whatever is left.
To be honest it doesnt even make sence it should work as you say, that would mean that whoever gets to higher tier tavern first gets first pickings and 8th player might have his options very limited. That wouldnt be a very fair or healthy model.
I havent get to play it myself yet but this is a first time i hear shared pool works like this.
what do you mean with the downside of mechs? because other people going for mechs doesnt somehow make your pool smaller.
the pool is shared between all players - ie if there are x copies of let's say pogo, and another player gets 2 , you have (x-2) copies available, thus if everyone goes for mech you will likely find mostly demons/beasts/murlocs/etc... during recruit phases, and won't be able to build synergy.

A Weekend of Wild Decks
This why I love Wild. The crazy variations of decks to play!
Da Undatakah OTK!
This is yet another crappy meme deck. Again, how in the world are these "hot" standard decks?
What do you think Casual is Supposed to be?

Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!
I think that he can keep the played cost, like playing him at 1 mana, on evolve he became a 2 mana minion
A Weekend of Wild Decks
Rogue and Warrior decks are awesome!
Jaraxxus is BACK
Very true. However this has quite the late game package and waiting to play Lord J after Zephrys has been played and killed is a "no brainer"

Meme of the Week: Hearthstone Battlegrounds!
Mech seems OP atm
Jaraxxus is BACK
Problem with Jaraxxus is Zephrys the Great being so common. Picking an auto-win (Sacrificial Pact) is a no brainer.

Ya it does, all units are in a shared pool among every player.
