I got Magni a long time ago, because I played a lot of warrior and got fed up with Garrosh' smug emotes. Magni has some more positive sounding emotes, like his wow emote, By my Beard!
Does anyone know where I can find the new Descent of Dragons wallpaper? I see that the official Blizzard site has done a very good job of hiding their old "media" link. I'd really like to get the new expansion wallpaper - any help would be appreciated!
That really wasn't what I intended there. What I meant is being labeled as humor makes it a clear joke, possibly not a good one, but a joke nonetheless. The list isn't misleading and doesn't promise nor deliver ; clearly advertised as impractical : pointless. Downvoting or Upvoting, in this case only spoils it for good for anyone else. Like you said, it doesn't mean anyone as to appreciate it.
I concur : "(...) it is accurate to say that Battlegrounds have a meme potential factor of 47.7% compared to Wild.'' - ceteris paribus sic stantibus - within a margin of error ± 2.5 percentage points.
I just want them to keep making cohesive themes. When I first heard of this, I thought "Oh great, this is going to be like Dota AutoChess and TFT where nothing is going to be intuitive unless you play the associated MOBAs", but they actually did an EXCELLENT job in creating distinct and memorable identities for each region. Ionia is martial arts themed and all about stuns, recalls, and controlling your opponent's minions; Shadow Islands is spooky themed and all about having your own minions die; Frejlord is ice themed and all frost bite and enrage mechanics... And since there's no neutral cards, deciding which regions you'll play is a huge decision. I'm still not 100% sold on the naming and the weird icons, but otherwise I love what they are doing here.
I thought the issue with adding a 10th class was more of an aesthetic thing. Yes they talk about balance but they're also VERY finnicky about layout. It took them how many expansion to double the available deck count? It's been only recently that they created a new interface to deal with both arena and battlegrounds.
I imagine people who drafted a deck with the class bonus still in place will be at a huge advantage against players with significantly less class cards, given that neutrals tend to be weaker on average.
It's probably good that they didn't announce this oopsie as it seems pretty exploitable.
I believe there are many reasons why Blizzard simply doesn't add a 10th class.
We already have Death Knights cards in the game (through Arfus and The Lich King) so adding them in as a class would also be a bit confusing and obscure. True that Monk and Demon Hunter don't have this problem, but they still have all of the other problems.
The biggest and most foremost is retroactive presence. In other words, they'd have to add about 140+ cards to the game just for that one class to make up for the difference between other classes, and they'd need to add them to every set with the same distribution as the other classes, which in turn, will also affect pack openings for every set. In the present day, do you design the class as if was there the whole time and follow old expansion rules, or as if it's now just being added? They'd also have to add new rewards to the old adventures, and they'd need to add a 10th class to create for things like Dungeon Run and the final Lich King battle. What about Mean Streets of Gadgetzan? Do they join an existing crime family and offset the 3-3-3 balance, or do they not join one at all and feel out of place with the other 9 classes?
Another problem that arises when making a 10th class is the design of the class. What Hero Power will it have? What mechanics will it have? How do you make it different than other classes? These problems are all extremely prominent in the community of people who try to make custom classes. They'd basically have to go through that whole slew of figuring things out from the bottom up again, that the fan community also does.
They'd also need to completely redesign the menus to accommodate for the new class.
As much as I love custom classes, adding a 10th class to the game is not very practical or easy, and there's not that much benefit to doing so.
If they decide to add them in some time, I don't think that they need to add older expansion and adventure cards for the class. I mean, standard makes it easier. it can be unbalanced for wild but at some year's start, I think that new expansion's cards can be enough for a new class.
I agree completely with you except the stuff I mentioned above. Just wanted to say that.
My impressions of the tribes from watching a lot of Twitch this week:
Demons: Never seems to work out when I saw them being used. If you don't become a turtle find Mal'Ganis early, you kill yourself.
Mechs: The current meta. The main downside is that the other players will be looking for mechs as well, so there will be fewer in the pool.
Beasts: Pretty solid, but it depends a lot on finding Mama Bear for the late game.
Murlocs: You might have a chance if you get poison + shields from Gentle Megasaur, but that's a lot of high-rolling.
Some meme options you didn't mention yet:
Shifter Zerus, which is in tier 3 but can shift to any tier, so you can get a super early tier 6 minion.
Bolvar, Fireblood with taunted Cobalt Guardian and mech-summoning deathrattles. You can't buff the health unless you get him golden though, so Junkbot is generally just better.
I could see this turned into a 6 mana 3/3 or an 8 mana 4/4 as an immediate "fix". It doesn't really change anything other than the fact that you won't evolve into the most juicy mana cost.
But as a more substantive fix, I wouldn't mind seeing minions remember how much mana they were actually played for rather than their printed-on manacost, at least while they remain in play. This gets rid of the most degenerate exploits involving discountable minions(Mountain Giant, Mogu, and friends) without touching the individual power level of those cards, only the ability to do yucky comboes like evolve or conjuring.
Necroing this thread just to gloat and feel vindicated:
"I think with Shaman currently, there's some gameplay patterns that we aren't the most happy with, I think when you do have an eight-Mana minion that you evolved [from] a Mogu Fleshshaper on turn four, that's not a healthy gameplay pattern. I think that's going to be a card going into Descent of Dragons that we're definitely going to keep an eye on.
I think when it comes to some of these effects that cheat Mana and do things like that early on, that's something that we're looking at as a team and we're making sure that these effects aren't ruining your gameplay experience. So, we are definitely aware of it, and we're definitely going to be keeping our eye on a few cards going into the next expansion to see how their power level shakes out." - Alec Dawson
Even if they end up not nerfing Mogu, it's just mighty ironic to hear game devs echo the kinds arguments that get you dismissed as a whiny loser by a certain section of the community.
Been playing a bit of OTK Paladin now that Sathrovarr has been released and I have to say I'm impressed. I thought it would feel like a win-more card but it really isn't: it adds a huge spike/recovery turn that would otherwise cost you half of your combo damage to pull off before you empty your deck. Not only that, the sheer value of the card gives you some amount of lategame reach beyond the combo itself.
What did you cut for it?
I'm not running Emperor T which I see some people playing, and only one Flash of Light. It's probably easier to just post my own little homegrown list because there's a lot of ways you can tweak the deck. I'm by no means claiming that this is an optimised decklist by the way; I've only really started playing OTK pally now that Sathrovarr has made it OP.
BUT, you still looked at it. Marvel's name puts eyes on your project. It's on the developer to make the game look appealing to people. All I'm arguing is that Marvel + Ben Brode brings eyes to the project. The potential audience is right there.
I have the same feeling, but...I already have so much time (and money) invested in Hearthstone and Magic: Arena that I just can't see taking on a THIRD card game.
I really hope the game turns out great for the people that are looking forward to it, plus I think that both Blizz and WotC could use a little kick in the butt when it comes to getting their act together.

what do you mean with the downside of mechs? because other people going for mechs doesnt somehow make your pool smaller.

Graveyard Shift
Soul Tap, is that you?
you literally just put 30 copies of ragnaros in a deck and are now upset that you got downvoted.
nice.
just because something is labeled 'just for fun' doesn't mean people have to appreciate it.
*Insert "Just For Fun" deck type as a label*
*Get downvoted anyway*

I hope Miss Fortune will be great card since she is one of my favorite champs.
But I guess Ionia will stay as my favorite region because of Karma and Akali. :)

It was sarcasm.
The issue with sarcasm on the internet is that there is no tone of voice or body language, so it can be hard to tell sometimes.
