I've been enjoying this Brawl. I didn't realise how much I missed and how much you have to plan ahead. It's a little tactical but of course you need a massive slice of luck at times.
One important thing about MtG cards is that it has 5 different mana colours; red, blue, green, white and black. A card may not have any colour and is sometimes referred to as "grey" or "brown". In this case, you can use mana of any type to cast that card. However, the card's text may involve an activated ability that requires a colour that's not part of its casting cost. An example is Golos, Tireless Pilgrim; it costs 5 mana of any colour, but it's activated ability costs 2 mana of any colour plus 1 mana of all colours. A card's colour identity is all the mana colours required to activate all of a card's abilities.
When building a deck for Commander, you choose a Legendary creature or Planeswalker (a type of card that sits there on the sidelines but has activated or passive abilities that can be triggered) to be your Commander. Legendary things work differently in MtG since they don't necessarily signify rarity, but rather it is a trait that only allows one of them to be in play at once. After your commander is chosen, you have to fill the rest of your deck with one-off copies of cards (normally in Magic you can have up to 4) that are within your commander's colour identity. In a game, your commander will be off to the side always available to you, from where you can play it any number of times. There can also be multiple players. Aside from that, the game is played as normal.
In that case, which class would you recommend this time? I got offered Warrior, Priest and Druid, but I'm not an experienced arena player at all...
I only played 3 runs know, but priest is one of the best at the moment, the class cards for priest are op at the moment, warrior is just bad, druid is fine, but is much harder to draft.
For the hearthstone players, commander is a format of magic.
It has cards from all sets, decks are 100 cards (different than 60, which is the standart), they are singleton and in each deck there is one legendary, which is your "commander". You can cast your commander at any point in the game from anywhere. It costs 2 mana more for each time this game.
It's just me? or after the rotation of dual class, arena seems pretty op right now? i played few runs, on which i was thinking i have a really good decks, but a lot of the times opponents had insane opening, or really good card quality, like never before.
Let me just preface this to say that I'm not particularly endorsing this new feature request, I just like the challenge.
You have the text as a standalone property, and can render it as part of an HTML block? Then use something like line wrap/count fiddle to work out how many lines there are.. It might be exactly as accurate as the in-game graphics, but close enough (and presumably what matters is how it displays on the internet, not in the game?)
I have reset my phone to factory settings (not just because of HS, the system was getting slow in general) and that also did not help. Back to the waiting stage i guess.
Anyway, don't forget to rate the app on Playstore accordingly:)
Used a recent mage deck of Thijs (anti Shaman deck) to play some games yesterday evening, got me from 5 to 4 again. Probably will not get a lot higher since there is not enough time left. But its a solid deck that can win any matchup given reasonable draw.
So uh, for those of us that play hearthstone, it'd be great if articles like this provided information on "what this thing is". I have no clue what a Commander in MTG is, but would love to find out :)
Wasn't there a mega slow easter one where every turn your minions are in eggs at first and are useless for an extra turn or something like that? I recall it was a slow brutal one
Going forward I would love OOC to also give info on the inticracies of the tavern brawl. Random decks? Self-made decks? Restrictions? Special rules? etc. So far it's only a copy of the ingame description.
I fear Zephrys is too big a problem here. It provides weapon destruction and can destroy your win condition.
I know this very well from the wild meta where I am quite successful with my spectral burgle rogue.
Without the weapon the tempo burgle package doesn't provide enough punch to compete with other decks in wild and standard meta.
Thanks for the comment :)
I've actually had a different experience in standard and find the tempo package in the deck to be quite strong. And Zephrys is not as common as you say.. Again, often being played before your weapon or without giving them removal if you have a good board. I've managed at least a positive WR and I think I've misplayed a lot.
I'd love to know if you've played around with the deck in standard and if you have any specific suggestions? I've also started playing a wild version so would love to see your deck if you've shared it.
I got my first Lightforged key with this deck that I thought completely sucked! It's Warrior/Paladin (with paladin HP). I'm so happy I thought I was hopelessly bad in arena!
Looks alright to me, though my curve isn't optimal.
EDIT: Don't have the screenshot for the Lightforge key, I was too euphoric I forgot to take one :(
CG! I bet it felt awesome to finally get the 12 wins :) The deck looks pretty solid in the early game, which if you can have (1)-2-3-4 follow and it up with a buff or a removal, you are going to win most of your matches.
I went 10-3 with this deck. All of my losses were against locks with multiple copies of Abyssal Enforcers. I'm still impressed I made it so far twice.
Well my roping "benefits" me in that it makes me feel better and enjoy my game more, which is as much "benefit" as someone else might get from gold farming. And it "solves the issue" of me not being able to communicate to this person that I think they're an ass.
What's hypocritical is to say that everyone else gets to be a dick, but not me. I have to sit here and say "oh thanks for wasting my time by playing your T1 deck I can't possible beat with my goofy T5 deck. Here let me make it easy for you and concede and give you exactly what you want and thank you sir may I have another?" Not buying it. You want to turn the other cheek, be my guest. But until either 1) Blizzard gives a place to exclusive play nonsense meme decks, or 2) people stop bringing ladder decks into the one place that ideally should be free of them, I'm going to continue to tell people who are actively ruining my good time that I can do the same.
Here's a fun idea: No gold rewards for Casual. Period. Bet you wouldn't see too many T1 decks then, huh?
1. The thing is, it’s not for you to decide what decks belong in each format. What would happen if someone with your logic decided that [insert your wacky T5 deck here] is cancerous and unfun to play against, decided you’re a dick for playing it and roped you for no reason other than that? That’s basically what you’re doing to those people bringing T1 decks. Every person has their idea of fun and annoying, you don’t have any special authority that allows you to equate playing certain decks with something objectively dickish, like roping.
2. The fact you feel better and enjoy your game more by getting a petty revenge on people you think were being annoying instead of being mature and moving on isn’t worthy of praise.
You can clearly see most people here agree with me. You can either see that as a sign you may be on the wrong after all, or ignore it. I couldn’t care less.
1. You're correct that I cannot decide what goes where - only Blizzard can. I, however, can decide how I react to what I encounter just like everyone else. If Blizzard thought me roping someone every turn was inappropriate, then they could stop that as well (idk rope 5 turns in a row and you forfeit?). But they don't do that either. So it's up to each and every player to decide what and how they want to play. I'll do me; you do you.
2. Also not praiseworthy is taking some BS moral high ground where you declare what you choose to do is Right and Good and Fine and what I do is Bad and Wrong. In a video game. That's free.
3. Always funny to see people who reply to you what 3 or 4 times now suddenly "couldn't care less." But yeah between that and the ad populum fallacy of what maybe a dozen people on this thread think, you sure showed me!
4. Interesting that all the people condemning me haven't bothered to respond to my suggestion about making Casual have no gold rewards. If you wouldn't play a mode without some sort of reward, then you're acknowledging that you're - at least in part if not entirely - doing it FOR the rewards. And that's my point: your rewards shouldn't come at the expense of others.

Sorry for my english
Arena after the rotation of dual class.
Maybe there are many more arena players, who's drafting skills have improved?
Today I made Hearthstone a better place... How? Did you?
Just hearthstone and in some minor way lol. Would love to have that big of an influence or resources to do so though

They have "brawl" which has just come to mtg-arena which is the first step, since it does have commanders.
The whole more than 2 people playing at once they dont have yet, that will take a bit of work.

The moment Commander is added to MTG Arena will be the moment Commander quadruples in popularity.
I really want MTGA to support every format ever. I hope with time we get there =)

Hopped in to try it. Won my first game. Played fast, but, yeah, still slow. Got a golden and 2 rares in the pack. Happy with that, not going back.
