  • Hearthstone Hypothesis - Why is Elusive Not a Keyword?

I was definitely surprised when Hearthstone came out and they decided to call Taunt "Taunt" instead of something like "Defender", which is much more clear and fits many different flavors. And cards like Evil Heckler that actually do taunt would have been much more hilarious, as the player realizes "oh he's a Defender because he pisses his opponents off with taunts!".

You've really touched on some great potential play styles that I would love to see more of, especially the portal cards and treant gameplay.
I've played many rogue variations of the Beneath the Grounds and Fal'dorei Strider play styles; some time back I had an arena run with 3x Portal Keeper hoping to see more of it, thrilled to see it in your custom expansion!

Honestly the Warlock and Druid themes were the first two to solidify for me, and I do think that they came out pretty well, so it's really heartening to hear that from someone else, thank you!

In fact, whole reason this set exists is because of a card I saw on r/Flamewanker, which inspired Archimonde the Invader and his interaction with Portals, I toned down the power level a little bit though. ;p

You can see my basic thought process from the cards that inspired me below:

  • Secret Hunter

This deck working great ! i have Zuljin but never have time to use it as this deck wins before i ever had a chance to played it !! :)

  • Reno Dragon Mage - Rank 5 (Anti Quest/Aggro)

    Quote From ColinthePyro

Nice list, maybe instead of Naga Sand Wich you could try Sunreaver Warmage? I'd test it but I'm missing a couple of the key legendaries.

I really like Sunreaver Warmage.  Seems fun to fit it into lotsa decks!

  • Reno Dragon Mage - Rank 5 (Anti Quest/Aggro)

Ah i'm sorry to see that, but thank you for giving it a go!  Sounds like you got a ton of crap draws, which.. given how top heavy this deck, is bound to happen. What suggestions would you make with improving it?

  • Hearthstone Hypothesis - Why is Elusive Not a Keyword?

The stuff about the flavor of the keyword is interesting. The Freeze keyword is fairly uncommon, as far as keywords go, but you can imagine if it was called 'Stun' and had the same effect, we'd be way more likely to see it in classes like Warrior and Rogue and less common in Mage and Shaman.

  • [Top 100] Necrium Blade Rogue

    Hey man

do u think it would be worse off if I included togwaggle instead of octosari, just can't craft it atm lol

  • Invasion of the Legion! (New Set, WIP)

Yeah, I'm leaning towards keeping the warrior spell and redoing the druid one. Druid needs some token synergy stuff if the rest of the set is so treant focussed. I'll give it some thought when I return to this next week. I'm sure a number of cards will stick out as 'bad' once I get some distance.

  • Hearthstone Hypothesis - Why is Elusive Not a Keyword?

Even if it's a non collectible card, I think Anti-Magic Shell deserves a mention, since it would greatly benefit from making Elusive a keyword.

The Poisonous example is pretty on-point, too. In fact, I was pretty surprised when Poisonous was made a keyword, but Elusive was not, since their prevalence was exactly the same until that point: one Classic card, three cards from previous expansions and three cards and an Adapt option from Un'goro.

  • Reno Dragon Mage - Rank 5 (Anti Quest/Aggro)

I have a similar version on my F2P account.  Of course I am missing some legendaries but I make due with the dragon package.

  • Hearthstone Hypothesis - Why is Elusive Not a Keyword?

I also suspect occurrency is part of the reason why Elusive is not a keyword: minions with that particular power are very few, and not even common ones in the meta.

If we had more of them, and a more typical keyword, or at least the signature of an expansion, it'd probably be a keyword already.

  • March of the Legion [Booster Expansion]

Wow this is really well thought out!  Heck I would be excited to play this xpac!

  • Hearthstone Hypothesis - Why is Elusive Not a Keyword?

Elusive is a great name, more so if they were to remove the hero power part.
Sure it's fine for classes that have weapons to remove it, but it becomes a real pain for the classes that don't, considering the classes that don't have weapons will possibly be running a higher percentage of spells, at least they'll have a fairer chance to remove these card. (mostly thinking of mages)
I think that's why we don't see so many of these "Elusive" cards.

As for "Can't be targeted by Hero powers" this could be it's own keyword too, could be added to a ton of older cards since it's a nice mini boost (strong early, nice perk late game) can't think of any names for the keyword but definitely comment some below if you have any ideas.
Plus, It'd be cheeky on reborn minions

Also, shame they removed the Enrage keyword too.

  • Reno Dragon Mage - Rank 5 (Anti Quest/Aggro)

I gave this deck a go at rank 4-5, and went about 9-11 in 20 games. A lot of games where I drew nothing but big minions, and had nothing to stop aggro. I had much more success with the standard highlander Mage, but this was fun at least. Appreciate the deck and guide.

I just noticed that the various quest cards have not been updated yet with their associated hero powers or cards they give. Can those be updated with the "related cards" section too please?

Yeah, some stuff is marked in a not obvious way in the client, so it didnt get proper updates, we will fix these things manually, so feel free to point them out.

Thanks! I really appreciate all the hard work that is going into this site. It is filling out really nicely and the work shows. The only ones I have noticed so far is all the current quests and old quests. Is it best to pm a mod or post in a thread like this if I find something missing

I see you already found the thread where we collect this info, so yeah, post it there, thanks! :)

Yeah that thread was made after I asked the question so once I noticed it I started posting there. It takes a village to make a website great so we all have to do our part. I appreciate the report button too. There was a dude spamming "cool" on tons of threads the other day just to achievement hunt and I was wishing I could report him.

  • Quest Trading - Play A Friend!

    Battletag: Szafirmag#2937

    Trade Only?: Yes

    Done :)

  • Tactician Custom Class (4/12/20 - Ashes of Outland)

How is Hidden Spikes supposed to work? what does your opponent see? does your opponent see you spending 4 mana, then a card dissapears from your hand, and nothing happens? and why isn't it a secret? also, compair it to Explosive Runes, or Snipe. it just isn't a very good card, and I have no idea how it would work.

  • March of the Legion [Booster Expansion]

    March of the Legion

[A Custom-Made Booster Expansion for Hearthstone]

The schemes are set, the troops are rallied, and the "FOOLISH MORTALS" are tempted... The Legion is returning to Azeroth!

This time they've come prepared with 54 powerful class specific cards! (with more potentially on the way)

Each set provides new "DEMONICALLY ENHANCED" support for a specific class archetype that has previously been low tier or even un-played.

    Author's Note

I'm still quite new to custom card creation, and this is both my first time attempting to make a cohesive set, and my first time publishing anything online. I had a lot of fun creating this, but I'm aware it could almost certainly use some tweaking, so I'd really appreciate constructive criticism!

With that in mind, this is what I'm calling a Booster Expansion, a small update to bring under-used deck archetypes into the Meta by giving them a Boost in the form of new niche class cards, so for each set I will recommend some existing cards that I would use alongside my supplement cards.

As one final aside before we get into the cards themselves, despite generally being a Wild player, I designed these cards with the Standard Format in mind, considering that I find that the Standard Meta is more open to new and emerging archetypes, and It was a lot easier in terms of balancing.

Thanks for reading! And without further ado...

But what's an invasion without invaders? 8 Demonic Commanders! (and uh... 1 very enthusiastic Troll?) Lead this army to it's glorious conquest.

    Let's meet them now!

    Warlock Cards

Archimonde, Lord of the Legion has set his Warlocks to initiate the invasion, shuffling portals into their decks to create an unending swarm of empowered Felhunters in the mid to late game, closing out the match. Paired with on draw effects, and re-shuffles, those puny mortals won't stand chance!

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Druid Cards

Xavius, first of the Satyrs forces his Druids to engage in sacrilege by cutting down the very trees they once protected in order to power their demonic forces in this altered style of Token Druid, add in more Treant generation, and Buff cards, for a unique spin on an old classic.

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Hunter Cards

Hakkar tames monstrous beasts from the abyss, granting the weaker specimens to his Hunters to summon in smaller sizes in order to then set up for stronger minions, and swing turns later on, combine these with the newest Quest, and a few other powerful beasts, and burn your enemies to ash!

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Mage Cards

Jaina was a Dreadlord spy all along! and even now, she and her Mages are still keeping secrets, their lies provide ample defence though, which could lead to a formidable control style secret deck alongside the anti-aggro secret tech added in the last expansion.

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Paladin Cards

Yrel, once a beacon of hope on her homeworld, now leads her broken band of Paladins by the Legion's whims, sapping power from Divine Shields, in order to create a strong midrange minion based deck taking advantage of one of the Paladin's oldest but most un-used mechanics.

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Priest Cards

Veneratus peered for too long into the void and lost his mind, now he leads a dark cult of Priests who turn light into shadow for the Legion, this deck legitimizes shadow Priest both as a value style deck summoning large minions without the drawback, and as a potential combo deck akin to old Mind Blast Priest.

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Rogue Cards

Gallywix is always looking to profit, and a Demon invasion is the perfect distraction for him and his Rogues to rob the citizenry of Azeroth blind! These cards in addition to other thief style pieces could create a solid while varying deck, being fun and competitive!

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Shaman Cards

Zan'do was banished from his tribe for his unorthodox methods, but the Legion has welcomed him with open arms, his Shamans can utilize Overload with ease, gaining more than they lose to make a competitive Mana cheating deck.

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Warrior Cards

Mannoroth is the taskmaster of the Legion's armies, his Warriors are pushed to their limit, their rage makes them stronger, and their pain is the path to victory in this self damaging enrage style control deck, making use of Taunts that if not killed in one hit, get stronger.

Some cards I would recommend for this deck include:

    Tokens

    Post Script

Hey! If you made it all the way down here, I'd like to sincerely thank you for reading through the whole thing! Like I said up top, I really would love feedback, so if you have any notes at all, please do leave them below. I'll probably be checking this thread religiously for at least the next few days, sharing for the first time can be nerve wracking you know? Either way, I had fun doing this, so I suppose it's all worth it already, If I'm honest I rather like just looking at it's formatting, very pretty... unless it all messes up when I press "Create Thread", first time posting after all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Bye!

Are you guys planning on putting in a "go to last page" on threads... I have to click 3 or 4 times to go to the most recent page of the salt thread.

If you search for the Salt Thread or the 80g thread in Recent Threads page, there, they also have the "arrow icon" in the Last Post column, which can take you to the last post=last page of the thread. Yeah, not ideal, we know, but you can use this workaround for now to speed up the process.

Sticky threads need a UI overhaul, but yeah, you'll eventually be able to jump to the end of it.

    Notes

    • We're working towards flagging cards that are missing their related friends. If you notice any, please give us a hand and report the cards in this thread.

Wouldn't be better to display directly the card image in the related cards section?

Just a minor feature ofc, but while you're there, I think the image is much more straightforward and immediate to check for a browsing user.

Some cards have too many related cards for that to work effectively IMO. I was thinking maybe we'd do that just for heroes and hero power pages since those will always have relations to each other and then a possible token it generates.

If we do it though, it will be important to remain consistent about it. If we were to do a "if there are 2 related cards, show them as images, otherwise make them links", that wouldn't appear to be very consistent with people at first glance.

  • Tactician Custom Class (4/12/20 - Ashes of Outland)

    Quote From Demonxz95

Really glad with how much effort you're putting into this. I've never seen anyone besides myself try to do all of the solo content. Now all you need are the card buckets in Dungeon Run, Rumble Run, and Dalaran Heist.

Torga's Shell is also a really cool Shrine idea.

Really fantastic work on your end.

Thanks Demonxz! I'm glad you like it (especially since Time Traveler was one of the main inspirations for making my own class).

Finally finished! Now with the card buckets and dungeon guides complete, I'll have to wait for the game to release more content before I post any more cards. I am planning a Tombs of Terror chapter for the Plague of Whelps, but I'm gonna wait until all of the wings are out before I start (BTW if anyone has artwork of a spirit made of a bunch of small dragons let me know). Thanks to everyone who's given support and feedback, I really appreciate it.

Chapter 6 of the Dalaran Heist is also finished! This wing makes you fight on top of miniature floating islands surrounding Dalaran, but if there are more than 8 minions on the board it collapses and every minion is destroyed. It's a lot trickier to play around than some of the other twists, but you can use it to your advantage if you opponent gets too many powerful minions out. You also get to fight against bosses from previous dungeon runs who are flying in to help stop the League. Check out the adventure guide for more information.
