  • Grandmasters Season 2 Week 1 is This Weekend!

    Wow, 1 female only?

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

Agreed, to be honest the sooner Twinspell as a mechanic rotates out the better - wide open to abuse and very difficult to balance properly

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

You know? This doesn't even feel fair. Priest finally has a deck that is a bit about tempo. INSTANERF within 3 weeks... Meanwhile they let control warrior (also counting odd warrior) plague the ladder for a year before doing anything specific about it..

  • Card Nerf - Barnes

The thing about the token actor idea I disagree with is that the 1/1 is still a Y'Shaarj or a Rag or a Obsidian or a Lich King or any powerful minion. Sure Resurrecting it only makes it still be a 1/1.

However, the issue is that it is still a powerful late game effect being played in the early part of the game. Also, this idea is heavily targeted only to tone down Big Priest and ignores that Barnes is a Neutral card. This idea will only kill Barnes from being played in other Classes.

If Barnes was a Priest card, I would fully 100% support this idea but it is not.

Actually the Actor would be a Vanilla 1/1. Any effect it would gain would be out of Barnes' battlecry, therefore the resurrested Actor would not be any good to be in the resurrection pool.

Trade Only?: Yes, you go first.

  • New Mechanic Idea

There is a core issue with new heropowers at the start of the game. In the early turns, you don‘t want to press that button because it‘s a tempo loss. Hence, there is no point in getting a different but balanced heropower at the start of the game. For the effect to be worth it, the new HP has to be relevant and then we‘re back at the Genn/Baku issue - consistant and identical tempo push in the early game.

It‘s basicly impossible to balance those  effects. One more damage or one more health are insanly strong on turn 2.

Also, we just got the new quests so it‘s not like you can‘t transform your heropower. Rogue, Druid and shaman can all be completed on turn 5, that’s still pretty early! The design is actually pretty smart. Unlike Sir Finnley or dinomancy, you guarantee the effect to trigger relatively early and can build your deck around it

Barnes into Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound, on turn-4 is a problem in ANY deck, ie Spell Hunter.

Even if Spell Hunter is not very popular now, it doesn't mean the event is more pleasant.

It is still a problem now on turn-5 btw, just slightly better.

BP just had the best usage of Barnes, but it is/was not the only problematic one.

Nerfing Barnes was correct. Problem is it is an insufficient nerf for the whole problematic of Big minions.

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

Basically, Barnes will be the same issue as it was

  • Card Nerf - Dr. Boom, Mad Genius

Waiting 2 extra turns isn't what the nerf is for. If you read the quote

"Increasing the mana cost to 9 should make it more difficult to find a good turn to play Dr. Boom"

the point becomes clear: at 7 mana, you could on turn 10 play Boom PLUS hero power, or Boom PLUS frightened flunky, or whatever.

If you draw the good doctor on turn 10, you now have to basically spend the whole turn on him rather than having some spare mana to do something else too, which makes him much harder to play.

  • Card Nerf - Luna's Pocket Galaxy

    Quote From Demonxz95

If it was unplayed at 7, and overpowered at 5, they could've at least tried it at 6 instead of going back to 7.

That's what i thougt too - and sure it was not played before it saw the buff but i think that maybe - this will still see some play in some sort of Control Highlander Mage - i mean sure it is much slower but could still be powerful in the lategame ... but defenitely not as strong as 5 Mana :)

Glad you’re liking it. I am loving it. Gonna publish my Highlander Token Druid soon. Also doing well with it. (Also uses mechs and goblin bomb cards)

Sounds interesting - was looking for some kind of Token Druid ! looking forward to your List!

  • Grandmasters Season 2 Week 1 is This Weekend!

Was Staz the only GM to get to the top 8 of Seoul? Good for him, his dominance in the last half of the first season shows that he belongs in the big leagues.

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

    Best nerf.

A class that can heal their own minions is very hard to stop, especially when they get buffs early on. Iksar even mentioned how strong Priests already are, leaving them completely untouched would have resulted in a disaster.

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

No , it’s already problematic, and splitting cards into several cards should always come with a downside ( as for example Whirlwind in Warrior) . A 3/5 on turn 2 is just very uninteractive imo

  • Grandmasters Season 2 Week 1 is This Weekend!

European Grandmasters has to be the most stacked imo.

Also glad to see the new Shielded Conquest format!

  • Grandmasters Season 2 Week 1 is This Weekend!

I am looking forward to the new format. I think it will be interesting.

I am glad that Blizz is willing to change things up. I was worried that they would decide to keep everything the same for the whole year. That, in and of itself is a good sign.

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

Because Priests have Northshire Cleric, and a lot of classes can’t deal with a 3/5 on turn 2.

From there on you could generally watch the Priests steamroll the game, and losing the game so early on is no fun for anyone. Additionally, as Iksar mentioned in a tweet, people probably don’t realize how strong Priests are atm , leaving them untouched would result in an even more toxic meta

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

To see how strong Extra Arms is just compare it to Blessing of Kings.

It can be the same card - 4 mana +4/+4, but also

    • Can be played on two minions
    • Can be played in two turns
    • Can be played two turns sooner
    • Better fuels spell-based mechanics like [Hearthstone Card (Yogg Saron, Hope's end) Not Found] or Dragon Soul

This should be 3 mana +2/+3 Twinspell.

  • Card Nerf - Barnes

    Quote From JagBone

Wow! So many dislikes for just expressing my thoughts regarding the nerf. It seems that I cannot have a different opinion and MUST conform to the majority's opinion. Else I'm an enemy.

Welcome to a forum, where people can both agree and disagree with one's opinion. I'll be your guide for today.

Let me address the points in your post then and why you most likely got downvoted.

As GerritDeMan said your reasoning behind the actor change not working makes no sense. What deck cannot deal with repeated 1/1s every turn from turn 3/4 onwards? The entire problem of priest is its ability to resurrect 1/1s into 4/8s, 8/8s and whatnot from turn 4/5 onwards. That's what decks cannot deal with.

Additionally, nerfing Barnes by one mana makes the deck a turn slower in its highrolling, but the highrolling is still there. Hence why people feel like this nerf accomplished little to nothing because it doesn't address the inherent flaws of this game's resurrect mechanics. Big priest will stay just as polarizing and high-rolly as it was, except ever so slightly slower. Its gameplan isn't going to change at all. Hard mulligan for Archmage Vargoth, Barnes and Shadow Essence and stall until then. Fun stuff.

Was combo priest such a problem?  This seems like it was totally unnecessary

It really wasn't. The deck was strong because the meta wasn't targeting it (yet) and it required quite a bit of skill to pilot correctly.

Oh well, I guess your nerf was long overdue, Anduin. How dare you have a good deck before the third expansion of the year is released.

as much as I want to agree, Priest was growing to be a real problem. It was already one of the best decks at legend and only needed some basic knowledge to pilot correctly.

The hit the wwrong card, but Priest definitely needed the nerf unless you want a retrain of Gadgetzan era Dragon Priest

Yeah you might be right. I just feel like some of priest's biggest counters (such as aggro warrior) were seeing little play because of their miserable matchup against control warrior. Which is why priest looked so strong. Oh well, I guess we'll never find out.

According to 2 meta analysis I saw the only reason aggro warrior isn't tier 1 ATM is it's abysmal WR vs control warrior.

  • Grandmasters Season 2 Week 1 is This Weekend!

"Do note that there are not any free packs associated with the Grandmasters events right now." understandable have a nice day.

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

Combo priest only just became a thing. They have never before nerfed something this fast. It's unprecedented. Only conclusion I can come to is that they want the priest class to remain unplayable, like it was for ... I don't even know how long.
