  • Burgle Math

I was curious about the probably of burgling class cards with some out of the box card generators and I just thought I would share it. I am not stating the power of these cards rather just throwing some data out there. All numbers are rounded to the nearest percent. Also this is as of Saviors of Uldum Standard.

Pharaoh Cat Has a 35% to give a non-rogue class card.

Violet Haze Has a 58% to give 1 card and 12% for 2.

Jar Dealer Has a 37% for a class card.

    Ravencaller Has a 60% to give 1 card and 14% for 2.

Tanglefur Mystic Has a 36% for a card.

Swamp Dragon Egg Has a 37% for a card.

    Fishflinger Has a 29% for a card

Weaponized Piñata Has a 54% to give a card

    Lastly Face Collector

    Played 1 time is a 54% for a card

    Played 2 times is an 80% for a card 29% for 2

Played 3 times is a 90% for a card and 16% to get all 3 as class cards.

  • Why nobody plays shieldbreaker?

I'm curious as to how you linked Shieldbreaker's card tag correctly, and made an entire topic about the card, without realizing that Shieldbreaker is female.

    Fixed for you.

Good article. But calling control decks challenging and then linking control warrior is kinda contradictory, wouldn't you agree? The deck basically plays itself.

  • Will they move Whizbang to the Classic set?

    Quote From RavenSunHS

Additionally, if you think the other way around, let's say they stop updating him with new lists: they should come up with additional (Wild) lists to give him, once and forever, instead of simply using the new recipes they would produce anyway.

On the other hand, an eternal Whizzbang in full power tends to make cards like zayle the cloak less appealing.

Actually an interesting idea to rotate Whizbang and give him 9 or 18 popular wild decks, f.e. Big Priest, Jadedruid, Kingsbanerogue, Piratewarror, Freezemage and so on. So they could promote for wild a bit him. And they can still produce other cards in adventures like Zayle, because currently Zayle is inferior to Whizbang at all.

The problem with CW is not just the removal per se, but the removal on top of the removal: in other words, it's the insane ability of generating tempo while clearing the board.

Omega Devastator and Dyn-o-matic, two of the most powerful cards right now, are super good not just because you clear your opponent's threats, but because you have the chance to get rid of whatever survives too.

If you don't have Boom, your removals are technically halved, since you can't rush any mech you play and your opponent has bigger chances to develop a board and thus fight you.

  • Why nobody plays shieldbreaker?

As one above me mentioned Owl was played, because it can silence everyone, not only taunt. Even Aggro decks used silence back in the day to silence value minions like Brann or others to stop the value for the enemy. Shieldbreaker can't do this, so it's weaker than owl.

Additionally that most of the time, when silence is played you don't lack mana crystals, so it's doesnt matter, if your silence minion is 2 or 3 mana.

    Tl'dr: Owl > Shieldbreaker.

because why run a 2-mana silence that only hits some minions versus a 3-mana version that hits all.

There is no taunt worth silencing on curve at 2-mana.

Mana cost is really only relevant when it comes to tempo and with silence you usually don't use it for tempo but rather for a final push or to eliminate an enemy threat, both cases are usually not reliant on a specific mana cost unless you want to combo them with something particularly expensive

Ironbeak Owl was played in every single aggro deck to silence taunts at 2 mana I think owl would still be played as it was before why you guys now claim the mana cost of a silence card is irrelevant in an aggro deck? It doesn't work against edwin, or magnetic none taunt minions, but rogue is not a hard matchup for aggro decks.

a 2/1 for 2 is as understatted as a 4/3 for 4 it's 1 mana lower stat line you pay 1 for silence and 1 for the body.

About the last line I play mostly decks that rely on tempo the mana cost is relevant, with owl you can't Leeroy Jenkins + Inner Rage + Bloodsworn Mercenary as well as a similar combo with Grommash Hellscream the mana cost is relevant in said deck, and taunt is a huge speed bump or straight loss if played late game and you are holding those pieces. as well as the option to do other such finisher earlier.

  • building a competitive deck for standard without using any legendaries

I agree with it being too easy to fulfill and that it will likely get nerfed, but it's not gamebreaking, just annoying that they can ping for 3 and they can get a lot of unexpected spells that makes them even more annoying and unpredictable, but it can go either way and they get a lot of crappy cards (that happened to me a lot...) Anyways, Blizzard gave the archetype a new twist, and it's for the best.

You should include Spiritsinger Umbra to fill the board with Cruel Dinomancers and get extra copies from Expired Merchant.

I think she'd be better than the Cult Master.

I also tried Baron rivendare.  He didn't last long in the board, but it made enough of an impression to piss off my opponent

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - 3 Competitive Standard Decks

Everyone complains about Dr.7, it IS a fundamental card in CW, but the deck still shines if you don't draw it... There is too much removal, either aoe or single targeted, and the things that really  is a problem with CW is the brutal amount of removal, and the efficiency of it.

  • building a competitive deck for standard without using any legendaries

Appreciate all the feedback.. I guess that’s just one of the other thrills to the game for me. Making a legit deck without the use of legendaries. In my two years of playing the furthest rank I’ve gotten is nine with the deck I have posted on my profile. Regardless i still have fun. I actually got the priest quest for the freebie legendary. Side note the rouge quest is insanely easy to get IMO and will likely see a nerf.. you guys agree?

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - 3 Competitive Standard Decks

Loved this article. Very good indeed. Thank you very much!

  • Rock, Paper, Scissors - 3 Competitive Standard Decks

This is a very good article about three overpowered decks.

Well, I should say two. Paladin is a super high-roll "if I play Prismatic on 4 I'm likely to beat anyone without freeze/AoE" and mage is still utterly broken with giants + Conjurer's, alongside Galaxy and Tortollan. Warrior is just a very solid control deck with some rng from Dr. Boom (he's not broken; I beat the majority of warriors I face with hunter, regardless of if Boom drops on or after turn 7 or not).

I hope paladin dies on the vine, mage gets some nerfs, and aggro tries to remember that warrior is pretty simple to beat if you don't dump our resources out without a second thought.

  • Saviours of Uldum and class identity.

    Quote From AliRadicali

IMO Uldum was just the first example of the class identity memo negatively impacting HS card design, with more to follow. I've heard that Plague of Madness was a last-minute change from an actual board clear because the devs belatedly realised that rogue's not allowed to have mass removal.

Publishing the class identity document was a totally unforced error on Blizzard's part: they could have just not posted the damn thing in a transparent attempt to rationalise their hall of fame decisions, but instead they gave everyone unlimited ammo to criticise any and all future choices by the developers, either for following the memo too strictly or for straying from it.

to be fair, if any of the other plagues are an indication, then Rogue having an AoE in any comparable form would be bad for the game in the long run...or it would just end up being useless because Rogue still doesn't get taunt or heals and needs to maintain board presence to beat aggression.

Also the dev team has been much more communicative lately so maybe they just wanted to get it out there to get some feedback...which should lead them to dropping this whole class identity BS and just design cards that give classes different option for building specific decks (like card draw in Hunter via Master'S Call and Subject 9 or card draw for Shaman via Spirit of the Frog)

  • Saviours of Uldum and class identity.

I still don't know why they even bothered with that terrible post which literally says nothing of value (Demons are a STRENGTH for Warlock? I guess so if you consider being the only class to have demons printed for them as a strength)

    Obligatory Shaman card generation meme

Granted, it could be that that post was written after SoU was designed (pretty much confirmed actually by Plague of Madness, which was at some point an AoE spell) so they haven't committed to it yet....but if they really go down this path then that's how Hearthstone will eventually die because every class just gets to do the same thing over and over again with no innovation.

Remember that Hunter would still be stuck with the old "hope you curve until Highmane, otherwise you have no chance to beat anyone" Midrange horseshit if it wasn't for cards like Subject 9 and Master's Call which actually incentivized deck building by offering Hunter a chance at reliable card draw.

Also, HUnter and swarming are kind of a thing. Not as much as Paladin, Shaman or Druid, but we have stuff like Halazzi, Snake Trap, as well as a general tendency to go wide in the early game (at least a lot of past Hunter decks did), so it's not really ouf of left field. The problem with the quest is mostly that it doesn't really seem to have a point considering the damage you accumulate with your regular hero power of the game is probably just about as much as you would get from the Quest reward with your final push.

Not to mention that there aren't that many good token cards for Hunter, so really you're just wasting deckspace trying to complete a quest that essentially does what Hunter is already good at: killing your opponent
