I don't think this card will make highlander decks viable in standard. Zephrys the Great might be on par with Kazakus and since the prior minion can give you the perfect answer once you wish for it, he could be better in some situations, but the standard highlander decks don't have a win-condition nor the needed support for that matter (like Reno Jackson). You trade in consistency for what?
If standard Reno Mage had at least some of the defensive tools, which its wild counterpart posseses (Volcanic Potion, Dragon's Fury, Meteor), I would have been more optimistic. But they don't have those, they can't protect themselves against mech hunter and the other swarm decks. They need both copies of Doomsayers and Frost Novas/Blizzard. They also can't outvalue control warrior (Omega Assembly, Dr. Boom, Mad Genius) and will be hard countered by Bomb Warrior. So tell me, what will the highlander decks aim for once then arrive in standard? I'm seeing them mostly as wild cards. Elise the Enlightened has some potential to be used in a normal duplicate combo deck - you just have to cycle a lot of cards and barely reach fatigue, in order to activate her.
And don't get me wrong, I love wild and I would gladly play them there, since most of them are really good. But I feel like new or standard players would be really disappointed if they open those legendaries from packs and can't use them anywhere outside dead archtypes.
The old site was bought from Curse and necroed by a new group of admins, while the old group led by Flux is now dedicated to this OOC site.
OOC is meant to be a brand new and better version of what was HearthPwn before.
And imo it is indeed already, if anything because this site is muuuch faster. And being fully owned by Flux, they can keep improving and adding stuff as they like.
Even though I absolutely loved Zephrys during the reveal (learning the decision process behind the choices offered and testing all of that out to get good at the card sounds interesting), gotta have to go with the original favourite - Shadow of Death. Super interested as to what this card will enable - because if there's any room for Control / Deathrattle Rogue or some Combo oriented deck - count me in!
Last I heard, Curse had abandoned HearthPwn, which lead Flux to shut it down and move operations to this site. But just now I went on Twitch and saw a bunch of high-profile streamers using HearthPwn (or a very similar lookalike) to theorycraft SoU decks. So what's going on? Did Flux move back to HearthPwn? Is this site gonna be abandoned? Or is there another site that copied HearthPwn's look?
With Lackeys, you would already play them whenever you see fit for cheap, and this Buff guy can help transitioning the same playstyle in later stages of the game.
They did add the beasts of Rise of Shadows to the pool despite at this point Rexxar already having rotated out. So I'm just gonna be optimistic they' keep this trend goig.
The thing is 3/4 on 3 is not bad. Especially when people play shinly effect minions and you stay on the borad with one health left. It´s worth trying in some minion heavy decks that play on tempo. Not shure if good enough to be in a top deck. But decks like carpet zoo are good targets.
You only get Basic and Classic cards from all classes.
Basically, cards are put into various categories (Value, Tempo, AoE, Card Draw, etc.) and the effect chooses the most appropriate categories for the current game state, and then you get to choose a good card from one of the categories.
It's possible that the cards you get are all from the same category, depending on the game state.
It tries to give you something you can play this turn (with the mana you still have).
If not possible, it gives you something you can play next turn.
You don't really get any bad or uninteresting cards.
Peter Whalen said that you will be offered a Crazed Alchemist if there is a Doomsayer on your opponent's board, so the effect can get very specific in the answers offered.
Other things you are offered: AoE if your opponent's board is full. Single target removal if your opponent has a large minion.
The effect seems to be deterministic: With the same board state/mana/hero health, you get the same options. For instance, on turn 2 with no minions on board, you get offered Wild Growth, Animal Companion and Brightwing.
Mike Donais hints at it offering you Hungry Crab when there's a Murloc on the opponent's board.
(Pure speculation) Maybe if your opponent is low on health you'll get some direct damage spells? And conversely, you get healing spells when you are close to dying? Edit: This has been confirmed!
I guess they don't want an actual nerubian egg in standard, instead they made it a weaker nerubian egg to ensure that other players have much less stress to deal with. Like someone said, it's gonna be okay in standard format.
I don't mind if it was 4/4 with beast tag, as long as the egg still has 0/3 Hp, that would be really fair.
What if we take a different persrective? It is beast, it draw cards. On paper it's good for activating Untamed Beastmaster while playing - let's say - shaman who bad in large draw. The question is how to pop it avoiding transform or silence in more than one or two turns... Hmm...
Why not both? reborn + magnetic stuff, the hero power goes well with mechano egg after all.
I don't see it either though.. the mech none quest shell looks stronger.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
When I saw the quest for the first time, I considered the possibility of copying your magnetized mechs and creating more good targets for Kangor's Endless Army, but yesterday I was thinking only about consistency. Now that the whole SOU set was revealed, I'm really disappointed by the majority of reborn minions:
Very few of them are worth adding in our decks and if their number isn't reasonable enough, drawing all 5 needed pieces and completing the quest would be so hard to do. So yeah. I would like to quote linkblade91 regarding designing cards around new keywords:
I'm not a fan of the Quest being locked into this particular expansion, when the others are more open-minded like the old Quests. We have no indication that Reborn will continue beyond Saviors of Uldum - it seems quite unlikely, at any rate - so Making Mummies will be forever reliant on whatever Reborn minions we acquire in the here and now.
New Neutral Minion - Zephrys the Great

Control Hunter
Deck is shit.
Totemic Surge
Potentially a lot of burst in Even Shaman...
Naga Sand Witch
Naga Sandwich!
Can someone give me a run-down on the HearthPwn situation?

New Neutral Minion - History Buff
Lackey decks will try this.
With Lackeys, you would already play them whenever you see fit for cheap, and this Buff guy can help transitioning the same playstyle in later stages of the game.
In the very worst case it acts as a soft taunt.
Deathstalker Rexxar
They did add the beasts of Rise of Shadows to the pool despite at this point Rexxar already having rotated out. So I'm just gonna be optimistic they' keep this trend goig.

i want siamat just Because he Looks like the deadliest genie ever
New Neutral Minion - Serpent Egg
Nerubian is 0/2, which made it enormously better to hatch than this 0/3 (as an anti-aoe card).
That's the major issue with this card, not the 3/4 stats.
And at that point if you want to setup some DR value in Wild, either Nerubian or Ravasaur Eggs are better.
Nonetheless, the card is probably fair enough for Standard.
Saviors of Uldum - 5 Pack Bundles Giveaway
Still believe in Reno, especially with help from Zephrys. Very much like this cards and hope that highlander decks will be fun as always.
Saviors of Uldum
Yes please..!!

Deathstalker Rexxar
I would hope they do.
Even if they don't, the set of available Beasts is already wide and diverse enough. It might actually be already too wide for consistency purposes...
Twilight Guardian
Allways in my heart
Drakonid Crusher
i miss dragon warrior time so much! got me to legend the first time ever
Shiv
It allways feels bad to put it in your deck and to play it. Still its somehow worth it
Alexstrasza's Champion
Thats my all time favourite! Just an amazing art/card
Tinker's Sharpsword Oil
I love this card and art it just feels great to play it
