  • Three Uldum Card Reveals - Hearthside Chat

its like freezing itself from frozen crusher, but the difference is you cant silence off the sleep like you can with freeze, but also i think you could give it rush with say rocket boots, and it would be able to attack even if it procced sleep

  • Uldum Warlock Card Reveal - Plague of Flames

i was skeptical at first but think of this as 1 mana give a minion rush AND poisonous, with potential upside/flexibility. this card is probably just insane

[Hearthstone Card (Colossus of Moon) Not Found] of course. Many people don't like it because it has no instant impact on the board. However unlike most people I like playing mana cheat decks (big priest, big rogue, recruit warrior, dual paladin, darkest hour warlock etc.) And it's very powerful when you play it earlier than turn 10.

Looks like our chaos god is showing signs of life over at HP.  Did he not get the memo?

Though, if you can forgive my blasphemy, I can somewhat understand it if it was intentional.  OOC has all you awesome people but HP is a much better environment for shitposting and baiting because the people there are generally less ... forums-savvy.  There's a lot more newbies asking for help there too; most of the users on OOC are at least intermediate players who don't require deckbuilding or gameplay tips

Nah he is just tormenting us with his absence, he knows, the chaos god always knows, but he finds enjoyment in tormenting others, even us, the most devout of his  followers :D

I like Psychopomp the most because it grounded in a semi-obscure but real term that fits the Priest theme and flavor really well and also pushes a new type of resurrect archetype without empowering the currently obnoxious Big Priest one.

I really like Grandmummy for various  reasons:

1- The concept, art and name.

2- I like deathrattle decks, as well as Priest class in general, this card is a good addition to Awaken the Makers deck, a deck i really enjoy building and playing.

3-  Priest needs a good early drop, and this aint bad at all and might fill the early drop hole for Priest a little bit

  • Idea to revolutionize Hearthstone

It sounds like an interesting idea for standard.

However, metas would still eventually stagnate. The difference would be that the mini-metas just wouldn't last more than that one month. It also wouldn't necessarily mean that random clown fiesta homebrews would hit legend as consistently as more refined decks.

I'm looking forward to Mogu Cultist, since it has a lot of meme potential and I cannot wait to build some decks with it!

  • Idea for Genn and Baku Nerfs

    Quote From AliRadicali
    Quote From LyraSilvertongue

It's actually quite relevant. I already mentioned before that more established card games, which HS very much follows the formula of, created formats both for a more static format and one that is quite fluid. If a player has little to no knowledge of the past giants/successes of CCGs, including how they generally have tried to design their various formats, then a newer player would be less likely to understand why HS making its own semi-static format & fluid format would make sense for this game. Hell, even throwing out terms like "eternal format" has the chance to fly completely over the head of some players who only have the knowledge of Hearthstone for a CCG. The relevance is in the breaking down of previous CCG static vs fluid formats if you just cave to every complaint and nerf every complained about card & deck in both standard and wild, because then you no longer have any format in Hearthstone that is static or semi-static, but merely two completely fluid formats with the only difference being the overall card pools.

It's one of the most commonly used fallacies. If you have an argument to make based on your extensive experience with other card games, make the hecking argument instead of boasting. Hearthstone doesn't have any static formats: wild is constantly expanding and standard is constantly changing, not to mention card nerfs and buffs affecting both of them. The analogy to other card games doesn't work either, for one because hearthstone is a digital card game, which means it isn't limited to the tools available to paper card games (we can actually nerf and buff cards), and two because it has it's own fairly unique design philosophy. But again, if you want to make some sort of argument here, you actually have to make it instead of just coyly referring to it.

    Quote From No Author Specified
Is my argument any worse than somebody saying that Genn & Baku needs nerfs because they're stale & 'unbeatable'?

Yes, yes it's much worse, because you aren't really presenting arguments, just fallacies and assertions. It's painfully easy to argue that Genn and Baku being tossed out of standard a year early indicates that 1) a large number of players hate these cards 2) HS devs agree that they are a problem. If that is the case then it's not at all unreasonable to assume that the same holds true for wild.

    Quote From No Author Specified
There has been zero evidence to suggest Blizzard is currently considering nerfing Genn/Baku at the moment so the opposition to my side of things is just as made up. At least on my end I brought up that other cards & entire decks technically create staleness in the format (and those are not nerfed). Genn & Baku are not even tier 0 (which is almost always when Blizzard steps in to make balance passes in wild). There is currently no objective grounds or hints from Blizzard HQ that either card will be nerfed.

Do you have some sort of personal connection with T5? How much of an advance notice did you get about Mind Blast getting HoFed or Aviana getting nerfed? Blizzard has pulled unexpected card changes on us all the time, if anything the way they're keeping players informed every time they choose not to do anything about Big Priest is unusual.

    Quote From No Author Specified
You've established that a forum of public opinion is full of opinions. While I know my take on things is certainly not objective is still does nothing to prove any other opinion here so pointing out that I also have an opinion ultimately accomplishes nothing. I'm still waiting for the logical argument that impossibly proves that most wild players want Genn/Baku nerfed, or that they need to be nerfed.

I'm not the one who tried to ridicule someone's opinion because it was an opinion. You did that. Pointing out that you're standing knee-deep in subjectivity trying to mock others for expressing their views addresses another non-argument you made and (apparently) has caused you to recant this earlier position. So I wouldn't say nothing was accomplished.

If you're waiting for an impossibility then I sure hope you're the patient type. Sigh.

Wild getting new cards in no wise means it isn't fairly static. Both MtG and Yu-Gi-Oh had new cards added to their non-banned list formats as well but the developers didn't try micro managing popular decks in most cases for the sake of changing things that weren't broken in order make said involved formats a mirrored copy of the banned list formats.

I'm sorry but "a large number of players" hating something means absolutely nothing. Care to provide actual statistics or percentages to tell us what that is objectively supposed to mean? I'll wait while you pull those up. The thing is that I could just as easily do a survey of a random 1,000 HS players and find hundreds of players who hate control decks (even they're just tier 1 or 2) and say the exact same thing that you're saying (that a "large number of players" hate control decks). That doesn't mean it is anywhere near a majority of players.

You also have to consider the actual regular wild audience more than the standard format audience. We don't go around balancing standard around the wild players, so in the end it is the wild players' feeling towards the cards in the wild format that matter much more than the standard players. Also note that the devs HoFed them because they were a problem in STANDARD, and not as big of an issue in wild. Hell, standard players b*tched and moaned about Odd Mage, of all things, for a period of time. Yet the deck was a vastly inferior version of Reno Mage in wild. Even the Even Lock deck saw considerably less play in wild than it did in standard. Please don't try to say that Genn & Baku were considered as big of a problem in wild as they were in standard considering fewer of the decks saw play in wild AND in wild it's much easier to stabalize against the aggression with some classes (one glaring example being Voidcaller into Void Lord). It's interesting you criticize my assumptions and then try to assert your own baseless assumptions instead, especially when they are picked apart as easily.

Are you actually going to answer where the evidence is for T5 deciding to nerf Genn/Baku in wild or are you intentionally trying to throw the conversation in a different direction? You can't just say that cards are randomly nerfed at times as a strong indicator that Genn/Baku could be nerfed. It is still out of thin air guesswork with no concrete foundation to stand on.

Point out to me how I mocked any person here and I'll gladly apologize. However, I know I did not. I'm all for "mocking" (breaking apart) weak arguments or biased rationales to nerf something when the ideas are deserving of it. If you say a non-tier 0 deck should be nerfed, and all the reasons you provide for that argument is that you find the match-up boring then you should expect that I will provide counter arguments that point out your bias and why it shouldn't be nerfed for the reasons that person provided. I am well aware of the difference between mocking/flaming a person and opposing emotionless ideas and arguments.

My favorite card so far is the priest legendary because I love to main priest High Priest Amet

  • New Warrior Spell - Plague of Wrath

    Quote From CovenantKevlar
    Quote From Almaniarra
    Quote From CovenantKevlar

yeah what I meant by replacement was "Would you run Whirlwind just for Plague of Wrath?" There will be situations where you will draw Whirlwind but not Plague of Wrath and Whirlwind just kinda sits in your hand where as Warpath itself is a semi-boardclear. I know Warpath will rotate next year so im hoping that another type of Whirlwind effect comes out with Plague of Wrath

Whirlwind was worthy to use Sleep with the Fishes. So why not with also Plague of Wrath. Also remember that Paladin always uses Equality and Wild Pyromancer together and it is worthy too.

I will say that I do remember that Whirlwind and Sleep with the Fishes was used back then but it was also a 3 mana combo and used Primarily against aggressive type decks. However I would not use the example of Equality and Wild Pyromancer  Wild Pyromancer can be used in more than just Equality, Pyro can be used with Sound the Bells! for Multiple Whirlwind effects, Pyro can be utilized with buff spells like Blessing of Kings and back then  Spikeridged Steed and Pyro can just simply be used with Consecration The difference is you can use Wild Pyromancer in more than One situation, He is Flexible compared to Whirlwind.

Just to reiterate, I Think Plague of Wrath is a good card, I think you will see a 1x copy of them in Warrior, However I am not convinced that people will run a copy of Whirlwind just to get this combo off, If you cannot list me other examples of where Whirlwind can be useful other than Plague of Wrath in a Warrior deck that wouldn't be utilized by another card in this Standard Rotation, My opinion will stay the same

sure, There are some mechanics which you can use with Whirlwind, The best option is Acolyte of Pain of course. Execute is another card you want with Whirlwind. Grommash Hellscream is one of the card you can use with if you had to use your Inner Rages desperately in a part of the game before. Bloodsworn Mercenary is an option too if you need a cheper version of Warpath and warpath is a waste for Bloodsworn Mercenary most of the time because using Warpath continously deals with little deathrattles so well and you won't want to kill your own minions for her.

Enrage Warrior isn't a thing right now but can be a thing in time. Also What I really want to highlight here is that Warpath will rotate next year which I already said that above. That's the important thing here. When Warpath would be rotated, Plague of Wrath will stay in standard and Whirlwind will be only tool for Plague of Wrath unless Team 5 designs a new card like it.

Some cards can have more potential than you think sometimes. Whirlwind itself is such a card. They wait the time they could be viable and then acts well. Reckless Flurry was like that before for example.

  • Very OP deck in the latest tavern brawl

    Quote From frenzy
    Quote From Almaniarra

I have played like 20 games against "Mercenaries 14" as "Mercenaries 14".

Hi. Sorry if this comes across badly, but it's a genuine question (I know, never start with an apology...)

Why do you keep playing the brawl, instead of ranked or solo?

no, its ok. It didn't annoy me and its a fine question. :)

I don't play this game like a job. A collectible card game shouldn't be a place where people became furious. I mean, We are enjoying this game, aren't we ?

I like to play some brawls repeatedly just because they are funny to play and don't like to play some brawls more than once. When a new brawl comes out, I'm testing it if I can play it more than once and if it can give me enough enjoyement. I am playing this game to enjoy afterall.

Also, The rewarding system isn't well enough for ranked in this game, in any game of the world. I mean, staying around rank 1 or rank 18 doesn't feel any different and doesn't reward player so different. Sometimes it can be even more frustrating to play around rank 5 because all players at that rank trying so hard, bm'ing etc. Also playing around rank 15 have a good variety of decks. When I'm about to win at rank 11's last star, I am conceding instantly, because I feel really frustrated to play against the same decks all the time even if i win them repeatedly. I have reached the legend once and it doesn't really well-rewarding to achieve that once again so I am staying around rank 15-11 most of the time for my sake. Sometimes I can achieve rank 10 accidentaly, They can concede before me sometimes. :)

Casual have different problems. Almost all people plays casual for daily 100 gold or completing quests which creates a new meta for casual most of the time. Because of daily 100 cap, people plays hyper aggro in casual and they simply sponge on people who wants to play their silly, meme-y, greedy decks.

    Because of all those situations, Brawls can be funnier to play from time to time. Especially when The Brawl gives random decks. Because when The Brawl have the restriction that is "Build a deck with ...", it becomes boring in 1,5 - 2 days with all of the netdecking. A brawl like this one for example;

The Netdecking is a huge problem here which i hate and which I argued with people who defends netdecking so much time in Hearthpwn before. This is not the place of netdecking discussion tho.

So, These are the reasons why I play brawls repeatedly when they are funny. I thought that this new brawl can be enjoyable because it gives random decks but it ended up like a ranked meta which has ended up with only 2-3 decks in its ladder.

Plague of death card because it destroys everything - even those annoying deathrattle minions

  • Idea to revolutionize Hearthstone

If this would happen (bring back some old sets/cards) to constructed mode, it would have to be another game mode, but... they would face 2 problems: first - would they allow people to buy packs with gold? Second - how would they deal with thousands of complaining players that dusted their rotated cards?

I also thought about this myself. In my opinion, there should be a third constructed mode, with rotating sets, in a seasonal fashion, just like the arena nowadays. So, in an economic point of view, for Blizzard, I think it wouldn't be feasible...

  • Very OP deck in the latest tavern brawl

    Quote From Satanley
    Quote From Almaniarra

That brawl really answers questions which are "What is meta?", "How does meta shape?" and "What if we don't balance the game?"

I mean, you could say that in general the Meta starts out with weak decks, which get crushed later on by refined decks and this Brawl demonstrates that well enough. But this Brawl's Meta is not how Metas in Hearthstone generally work.

It doesn't really answer the questions, but could give someone who hears that word for the first time a general idea of what that term means in Hearthstone.

Sorry for misunderstanding, I meant what you said in the first sentence. It explains the progress of shaping of meta. I don't mean its meta is same with ranked. I have highlighted the sentence of your comment.

It is absolutely how you describe. I know and agree brawl's meta isn't how metas in Hearthstone generally work.

  • Idea to revolutionize Hearthstone

I think this would work better as a third game mode that is intended for long-time players who want a meta that changes as fast as possible. The sets valid for the game mode should change every month. The developers could choose half of the cards from each set to make temporarily available to everyone and uncraftable in that game mode for that month (like basic cards), which would make it so newer players would still be able to make fairly good decks without having any wild cards.
