I believe they didn't forget changing them. It's better to have a variety of thief cards. You can find the reason on patch notes or within official forums I think.
I think cleave is the only card worth playing of that list, and it's a considerable buff to the card but it won't make the card suddenly good.. it's just too random.
Are you sure quests won't be draftable? I mean the 2 quests that we saw can be completed in arena.. if all the quests are of similar fashion (completed by doing something any deck can do) they might be included in arena.
Actually all those cards were very very playable, not just Cleave, even before the buff. Im not saying that the buff made them jump a tier, but they are still good arena cards that got a little bit better :)
About Quests, there was not official info on it yet. But i really cannot imagine they would be draftable.
Look at WL quest, you need to waste a deck slot, then a mulligan slot and then wait 20 (or less with hero power, but you dont want to hero power) turns to get the reward. That is insanity for arena standards, no one would draft that card. And by the time the reward kicks in, you most likely already lost or won, so it wouldnt matter. Id rather have Wisp instead.
And Druid quest isnt much better. It is easier to finish, but you would be losing tempo in the early game, definitely not something you want to do, even less so as a druid, where your win condition is to get on the board and stay on the board. You cant afford to waste a card and then play suboptimally. And again, the reward is not that great. How many choose one cards do you actually draft on average? And even then, i think most of the time you would rather have the "ping".
So with that said, i really cant see Blizzard make these draftable cause no one would pick em (or no one who would want to get a decent number of wins). What im more interested about is minions/cards that interact with Quests, like Questing Explorer, these might get the Cthun followers treatment.
I'm not a big Arena player, but if I may, it feels a bit strange for 1 to the highest rating, and 5 to be the lowest. In most cases, you expect the other way around.
It is how we've always rated the cards in Arena Impact threads for years now. I suppose it might be confusing in regard to voting on cards, where 5 starts is the max, but we do write the scoring (1=excellent etc.) in few places to make ppl aware and if you followed us in at least one thread in the past, you should be familiar with how we score cards. So i hope it wont be a big problem overall for most :
If they nerf mage they should also nerf mech hunter and if they nerf mech hunter they should also nerf warrior and if they nerf warrior they should also nerf murloc shaman/tempo rogue and so on. If a mech hunter has perfect curve you (as a mage that only pinged until then) are completely dead on turn 5 with 5 minions on board and wargear magnetizing in somewhere. Almost any aggro deck with good curve that is left unchallenged for 5 turns will kill the mage, so no need to nerf it in my view.
"It wasn't because we were looking at ratings, or international [regulations]"
Proceeds to ruin the art of one of the most iconic card arts in the game aka eviscerate "because our artists weren't feeling well with some cards art".
Yeah i can see them rolling in their beds at night with nightmares about secretkeeper's art...
Yeah its definitely china's fault. What a waste, secretkeeper's art was 100 times better, and eviscerate without blood is such a punch in the eye. But at least the art for windfury harpy is cool.
Also nice excuse "we wouldn't print those cards today" the game is literally based on world of warcraft bro
It's a matter of self-perception about a vanity item. That's exactly what narcissism is.
I could maybe understand if it was season 1. It's the beginning, so it is objectively special (even tho i bet very few know which one is s1 cardback).
But this is just season 12. One year later. There's nothing special about it, you're not so much of a veteran for owning it, and nobody cares if you decide to display it, because nobody knows what season it represents.
The average player will just think it's exotic and that's it. Because the very notion of "old" grows relative the more we go on with the game, and at a point s12 will be perceived just as old as s42, even if it isn't.
Was playing chapter 5 heroic whilst on the train to work. Finally got to Khadgar for the first time and noticed halfway through the fight that the surroundings outside looked a little different than normal. Turns out that I forgot to get off at my stop, meaning I'll be an hour late at work.
And of course I didn't even beat that bloody Khadgar.
I will, I'm just saving up for the $80 bundle. I usually wait to see all the cards revealed first, then buy it at the last minute mostly to see if I win a giveaway or something :P
I am amazed that someone is carrying that much about this card backs. And who the hell care that it is exclusive. Now I understand why so much people are here and are irritated by hearthstone. You are forced to play the game every month in order to win exclusive card back, not because you want or like that game at all. My only concern for this event is that instead of classic pack it will reward some useless card back which will stay near all other 50 card backs which never see play. And who of you (who argue, how important is this to be exclusive) is actually checking every month all of his "exclusive" card backs and "clearing" dust from them. I personally don't even watch at them, except if some new interesting appear. Even if everyone receive my pre-orders card backs I barely care. I make pre order not for the stupid card back (as all who don't pre order think)... I pre order because packs are cheaper during pre-order, and I want cards from them. If they stop putting this useless heroes and card backs, but give for example for 80$ bundle two legendaries I would be even more happy.
Very good to see them working on the content. Maybe I will even but the second wing... Was not to keen on spending the gold but their efforts make me rethink.
I don't know about that. Regular beast hunter is more or less a control deck already, able to fatigue out warriors with dire frenzy (in that matchup, warrior is the aggressor, trying to kill you with bombs)
Unlike beast hunter, this can't run call of the wild, which is a key card. Having your hero card in a timely manner is key in any control deck and efficient draw helps with that. It also fetches your scalehides for your dire frenzys (or dire frenzied scalehides). We're sacrificing call for ... half a missile launcher package and some mediocre healing? Why not just have scalehide more consistently and heal through those? Why not clear through buffed lynx and rhinos? They are not so bad
All things considered, I suspect this deck might be worse at controling as hunter than beast hunter
In any case, I don't have Zul'jin, so I can't test it out, but if I were to make changes without turning it into beast hunter...
Thalnos isn't convenient with marked shot and while arcane shot + Thalnos is nice vs rogue, it has little targets outside of rogue, and arcane shot without Thalnos doesn't line up well in the current meta (mages aren't tempoing out their key cards against a hunter). The 1 mana deal 1 twinspell is a consideration, but like I said dealing 2 isn't good in the meta. Wing blast is also a consideration, but we're not good a killing 1 thing to activate
Missile launcher + venomizer should be 2 ofs (either that or 0 ofs because consistency). We're sacrificing a lot for them, so we better make use of them
Nine lives looks very mediocre because we're not running deathrattles worth 3 mana. Maybe cut 9 lives, or replace deadly shots and hunter's mark with spider bombs?
Dump applebaum because it's weak and we already have healing
Add houndmaster shaw because he's OP
Animal companion and secret plan are good cards with the hero that I'd love to run, but can't find space for
This is all assuming missile launcher + venomizer combo isn't too slow (it's 8 mana!). The strength of the combo in mech hunter comes from the fact that you can set it up preemptively by magnetizing half the combo on a sticky mech or discounting them with galvinizer
If the above is the case, maybe this mech/beast hybrid concept is better as a faster tempo deck rather than a control/value deck
Edit: watching the video now and holy shit, I knew controlock was bad but I didn't know it was that bad!
Dalaran mostly belonged to Mages. Just to make a theory, the mages hired league of explorers to take the city back because they knew loe had defeated raffam in the past. Hence I feel, Reno jackson, being a leader figure among those would represent the Mages even though he is not a mage.
Leader of Explorers' League is Brann Bronzebeard and yes it is same thing with Leauge of Explorers, just look the image here;
For OP, I've thought firstly Finley as Mage and Reno as Paladin but then remembered sth.
I guess Sir Finley Mrrgglton's title says everything. Being a sir as Paladin makes sense more than being a Sir as Mage.
And like others say, Finley holds an Fish-y Artifact and hits with that artifact in the cinematic trailer. Even Mages use weapons like Staffs, They use them for casting, not hitting.
Finley's effect might even equips that Golden Fish-y artifact to our hero.
I do agree the schemes being kicked out was a good call though. The bomb warrior deck legit had a dead card lol. I know what they were trying to do with it, but damn did that suck to draw early on. Now we got a nice meaty body with extra value!
I honestly think the "magic bazooka" that Reno is holding is a sign that while he may not have mage-like abilities, the Mage spells this expansion will mostly or all be tied to magical artifacts (such as Yogg-Saron's Puzzle Box). These artifacts could be conveyed in the Hearthstone lore as items Reno has found in his explorations, and therefore, items he is using to gain some control of magic through them. Hence he is in the Mage class for this expansion.
Strengths: Spells (big and small), damage spells, Secrets, board clear
Limitations: Minion swarms
Weaknesses: Healing, Taunt, minion buffs
Priest:
Strengths: Healing, narrow but powerful spells, copying, single-minion buffs, Deathrattle
Limitations: Card draw
Weaknesses: Face damage spells, multi-minion buffs
So according to Blizzard's logic, this card should've been a Mage card.
But for some weird reason Priest and Warlock are not only getting better board clears, but also more board clears. The name of the card would suggest it's a Warlock card (Plague of Death). Priests are anti dead and the art doesn't fit the card name as well -I don't see a plague (a disease).
All in all, this shouldn't be a Priest card but a card used AGAINST Priest, Priest already has the most and best board clears at the moment and for that I give it a 1/5.
Ah alright, because the card has the same text so was wondering why you wouldn't want the 1/1 body. Thanks for explaining. So Blizzard forgot about changing Swashburglar and any other "burgle" cards that are in Wild?

Imo Khadgar is realy bad balanced, it's so broken, you can win only with Rin or Sound the Bell at 0 mana. Really annoying !!!

I don't like it. The effect is random, the artwork looks like a chameleon with wings.
It's a mediocre legendary I won't be too happy about to get it from the next brawl pack.
