I can confirm a similar setup for the Canadian store: the 500-stone package is the most affordable value. Either you're saving 1 whole cent (sarcastic wow!) on the 2000- and the 8000-stone packages, or you're losing up to 50 cents on the other packages.
I can see two possible reasons for this situation:
Incompetence on the part of Blizzard -- they never thought to check the various regional markets to see if their prices made sense.
They assumed their clients wouldn't bother doing basic math.
Either way, it does not reflect well on Blizzard, and by extension, this whole initiative.
Alternatively, someone on reddit evoked the idea that this is a deliberate psychological trick: "Haha, Blizzard is so dumb," you think to yourself. "I'm going to stock up on 500-stone packages and save so much!" thereby incentivizing you to buy more stuff with that "free" money. I don't think that's the case, otherwise you would see the same situation with the "major" currencies (USD and euro), and not just with the regional ones.
That certainly does defy the usual logic where you can often/always expect a discount for purchasing things in larger quantities all at once. I probably shouldn't be surprised they are bad at conversion rates for anything that isn't USD, as Blizzard has never cared to adjust their prices to various regional specifications. Still, this could be also worth reporting somewhere official.
I'm in the same boat when it comes to Runestones (didn't even look how that applies to my local currency, it's not great with dollars and euro as is), they'd need to start offering far more generous deals to tempt me further.
Whoever they got to do the maths for Runestones costs really hates people buying in bulk (or loves ripping them off). In USD you lose a few cents for the higher quantities, but in Sterling (UK) you lose whole pounds, even just for buying 1000 instead of 2x500. That's a hefty price just for convenience...
Thankfully I'm pretty much done with purchasing things in this game and have been playing sub-F2P this expansion (not even using half the gold earned on the Sunken City rewards track on packs). For as long as we can still use gold on packs and minisets, I should be good to just ignore Runestones.
I find that whole nomenclature just plain confusing, only further muddying the waters. Their Rare and Legendary skins (but not Epic), and arbitrary distinctions between the two types.
"* Battleground Perks are not included in the Mega Bundle pre-purchase this time. We’re reworking how Battlegrounds Perks and rewards work for next Battlegrounds season. Until then, some of the current Perks are being extended."
So it would seem that the dust refunds are still active for the time being (it took restarting the client once to avoid the bug not showing any). Always nice to see a little extension.
I am voting with my wallet - I see no problem with their new monetization scheme. I was already paying real money for 4 heroes, and I'm happy to keep doing so. No has yet articulated their issue with the changes other than "I wanted to free-ride forever!"
Appreciate the help with the wording! I've been playing some Runeterra lately and I got it mixed up. (And I agree with you Demon, LoR wording sucks.)
I don't think Taunt is necessary, there's already some things you can do with the card that make it very powerful. There's a lot of hidden power in the card!
For example, spending all your mana when the card is at one HP to still gets three 1/1 Bees, effectively making it a 3 mana 6/11 in the perfect circumastances. Didn't think much about "when a minion dies" effects as Druid doesn't have many of them; the real reasons for the bees was to discount the big Druid beasts. Beast Druid was one of my most played decks when it was strong in Wild and you'd often use BEEEES!!! on your own 1 Health minions to get an early Knight of the Wild or Frostsaber Matriarch.
I had a "Get a top 4 win in Battlegrounds" weekly quest on Monday. Thought I'd save it for the patch. Little did I know that the quest would go "poof" and now I have 1 less weekly quest and lost out on XP. Yay!
