I'm just glad rogue wasn't completely butchered by its nerfs. Hooktusk rogue is extremely fun to play. Shame about the high amount of warriors though. Never liked playing against control warrior.

Life is too short to play against Control Warrior...

  • Vicious Syndicate #133 Meta Report

Warrior and hunter totally dominate ladder play. Hunter is even worse than the undertaker hunter from 5 years ago. It would not be that bad if the decks were difficult to play, but they are to forgiving. Even very bad players can navigate it to 90-95% effectiveness. I think that is wrong.

As for DK heros, either give all classes one or none.

Thanks for responding. I am gaining a better understanding reading more posts.

  • Anyone else think the recent post about class pros/cons is incredibly lopsided?

    Quote From Dakarian

it's fine.  People are already big on thinking of themselves as a particular class player.  This just encourages it.  If you like going face you are a hunter player.  That sort of thing.  I would think that it would make it harder to make cards over time as the class ends up locked to an archetype that you cant' really experiment away from. But that's a matter of the design teams to worry about, not me.

Not sure what you mean by laughing at warlock's 'weaknesses'.  They don't have good healing or great ways to burn an opponent from the hand anymore and the past has shown that they REALLY go off the rails whenever they have either.  That's the point of the 'weaknesses': it's a reminder for the team that a class should NOT have everything at once.  Don't let a warrior be able to zoo out or they go Pirate Warrior on you.  Jaina DK shows why mage shouldn't have reliable healing.  That sort of thing.  This is them deciding to remember that decks shouldn't be able to do everything well.

Lol yeah, like Jaina decks have ever gone past tier 2.

What about mage difficulty to swarm boards and then conjurer's calling into 5 minions?

Hunter card draw limitation? Just draw 3 beasts from your deck already! Master's Call

Shaman's card draw? Spirit of the Frog half your deck. Shaman's card generation? Are you kidding me? 2 Hagatha's, infinite murlocks, various battlecrys also repeated by shudderwock...

    Ansewring OP:

Yes. They wrote such a lengthy explanation (full of obvious well known facts and partial lies) just to justify them removing mind blast and vanish. Two wonderful, perfect fitting cards that they obviously can't balance. The hilarious thing is that the cards are going into wild (standard's dumpster) where apparently all this class identity importance does not apply :)

  • Playing on a budget: Which cards to disenchant?

Those of you saying to DE Wild Cards because you'll never play it are making a huge mistake. If you are F2P you should never DE anything. Ever.

Think of it like this. If you DE every Standard Card that rotates you'll never be able to play Wild. At all. You can play Wild on an ultra small budget and, until around Rank 10 anyway, face a far larger variety of Decks. After Rank 10 its all Uber Aggro and Big Priest, but that's another story.

I'm lucky, I have a damn near complete Collection, missing 5 Legendaries and 4 Epics, but even then its hard to stick to just Standard or just Wild. I'd strongly recommend Wild. It's great fun and a good way to get your Ranked Chest every month.

  • New Priest Spell - Radiance

They could have made it targetable to "friendly" to at least make it decent, while still avoiding any potential burst damage usage.

As it is, it needs an incredibly weak Standard set AND meta in order to find its own place in a (Miracle) deck.

  • Is it worth buying Wild Adventures?

    Quote From Conduit

Yeah, but if the only good Blackrock card is Emperor, I can just craft him tbh.

As legendary, yes. But the other can be used as budget solution for some archetype, or they are still worth 400 dust each, that means a free legendary of your choice. This is a point too.

For non legendaries, the card in Blackrock are part of the dragon engine you can use in dragon warrior or dragon priest, and other interesting card too like flamewalker or grim patron. Most of Blackrock cards are used in some kind of deck, from zoolock to egg druid to the various dragon archetype you can build (warrior, priest, paladin, other).

  • Is it worth buying Wild Adventures?

There are a few more playable cards in Blackrock Mountain, but Emperor is the only one that isn't easy to replace by anything else.

Dark Iron Skulker is nice since Rogue doesn't have a lot of AoE options.

Gang Up used to be a unique card, but now there is Lab Recruiter who is usually just better.

Demonwrath is useful in Control Warlock, Demonlock and Renolock.

Lava Shock is good in overload decks.

Resurrect is too good for its cost...

But all of those are cheap crafts, so not really a reason to buy the adventure.

Unless the card DB is broken, there seem to be no epics in BRM, and of the legendaries Emperor Thaurissan is good and unique, Nefarian and Chromaggus are playable but easy to replace, while Rend Blackhand is less versatile than Crowd Roaster and Majordomo Executus is a meme card.

If you really like dragons, getting BRM might be worth it, otherwise crafting select cards would be more efficient.

  • Anyone else think the recent post about class pros/cons is incredibly lopsided?

Apart from Druid not being able to remove big threats, I don't really agree with what they've put as class weaknesses/limitations. Fro example, Mage is often using Mountain Giants and duplicating them, to create an early 'swarm' of sorts (possibly 3 mountain giants on the board in quick succession!). This doesnt really seem to fit its identity as defined by Blizzard, not least because it relies on huge minions to bash the enemy to bits. Do Blizzard play their own game?

    Quote From Alfi

Rogue: Rogues hide in the shadows, planning for the perfect time to strike. They may be sneaky and nimble, but they lack strong defenses and regeneration, forcing them to act quickly to incapacitate an opponent. Their innate ability to generate, draw, and burgle cards allows them to build up and execute on many synergies.

    • Strengths: Combo cards, destroying individual minions, card draw, weapons, Deathrattle
    • Weaknesses: Taunt, healing, board clear, multi-minion buffs

Tell me again where do combo cards and draw enter after the nerf to prep. And the act quickly, how will that be?

Some cards are HoFamed, because they are against class identity (Vanish). Some, because they are broken good (Preparation)

  • New Priest Spell - Radiance

I don't understand why they had to put such a bad card into priest basic set. They missed the opportunity to finally give priest a new weapon instead of the same old innerfire combo.

Guess we'll have to craft the strong new cards in future expansions to actually play Priest on ladder.

  • 10 New Hearthstone Cards Coming to the Game, New Hall of Fame Additions

I do believe they will impact the game:

    · You can include one copy of Gift of the Wild in Token Druid.

    · Arcane Devourer looks amazing being an Elemental in Cyclone Mage.

    · I'm also thinking of High Inquisitor Whitemane in Resurrect Priest.

    · Siegebreaker... not really sure but could replace Rafaam for a Zoolock (already has 4-6 demons and more could be added)

In general, the experimentation + the Hall of Famed cards will shift the meta no doubt. Hopefully it will be a big and fun shift :)

  • New Neutral Minion - Brightwing

She probably has her uses, and I'll definitely try her as a brightwing fan in HOTS.

Random legendaries aren't consistant enough though. Most of the time you'll get something without any exploitable synergy like Taz or Greenskin.

  • Keeping Hearthstone Unique - Class Identity Breakdown

Blizz, are we even playing the same game?

  • 10 New Hearthstone Cards Coming to the Game, New Hall of Fame Additions

I can understand removing Mind Blast, I do. It restricts design space because Priest (especially with Prophet Velen or Malygos) could OTK quite easily if it gets any support or the ability to get duplicates of it.

My only worry is, where does this leave Priest? Is Rez/Big Priest really going to be the only way to play?
Boringly removing everything until you can make your big board?

Silence Priest can be fun but is too unreliable to really get going.

Mind Blast was the card that acted as a finisher for more regular Control Priest decks like Dragon Control Priest last year. With Mind Blast gone, how exactly is Priest supposed to kill their opponent? Priest has plenty of Control tools but nothing to actually pressure the opponent except resurrection mechanics.

Maybe I'm wrong but I do worry what Priest is supposed to play now other than Rez Priest.

  • Is it worth buying Wild Adventures?

Yeah, but if the only good Blackrock card is Emperor, I can just craft him tbh.

  • 10 New Hearthstone Cards Coming to the Game, New Hall of Fame Additions

That's my point. The only playable board clear you have (a soft one because they return to hand and can be played next turn) is leaving Standard.

  • 10 New Hearthstone Cards Coming to the Game, New Hall of Fame Additions

I have no particular opinion on the cards themselves and the moving of Vanish and Mind Blast (I play mostly Arena) but I like that Blizzard keeps making changes, shaking things up not only when it comes to expansions.

Adventures are funny! You should buy them for this reason ;)

For the cards, every adventures have cards that are played in wild meta: Naxxramax has some good low rarity card, Loatheb and Kel'Thuzad, while the Mountain has Thaurissan, LoE has Reno Jackson and Brann Bronzebeard, and Kharazan has Barnes and Medivh.

  • Keeping Hearthstone Unique - Class Identity Breakdown

This really maks me worried for the future.

Does this mean Control Shaman will just never be a real thing because they won't print any viable card draw?

Is the current Midrange Hunter just a mistake and they will never print conditional card draw for Hunter again?

Is Priest literally just a meme class with no actual winning strategy outside of Inner Fire?

Also their classification of "strengths" and "weaknesses" is utter BS at best

Demons are not a strength, they are a mechanic exclusive to Warlock. if they were a strength then they should be counted as a weakness for every other class

Also, Warrior basically has no weakness. Not having the ability to go wide is not a weakness it's merely not an archetype that's supported in the class (not to mention pirate warrior existed at some point). they basically mention a weakness that doesn't even feature into their gameplan. It's like saying armor generation is a weakness in Mage when it's just not even a relevant mechanic for the class

Basically Druid and Rogue autolose when an enemy gets a tall/wide board, meanwhile Warrior apparently has no actual weakness (which is wrong, since their weakness is being unable to really close out games outside of going for fatigue, which makes ressource generating strategies a natural counter)

All this tells me is that they want to really double down on rock-paper-sccissors instead of letting you build decks that try to adapt to situations. Have fun in a future where MAges win purely because they slammed down a Mountain Giant turn 4 and you just happened to play a class that's not allowed to beat that.

  • Gift of the Wild

Seems like a great Common for arena :)
