  • New Expansion Cards Worth Talking About

    1. Yassao boat

They finally did it they printed a landmark that not only draws Yassao but also provides free stuns on attack, this was the missing piece you finally don't need to run Targon to tutor anymore.

    2 Lord Eldred

    - Thralls have shown us how powerful a tough nexus can be so I really like this card in Demacia encouraging you to run Lux decks

    3. Training Pits

    - Yetis, frostbite, reputation they all suffer on the attack, so now they have acess to free uninteractable rallies, is it op maybe but it's warranted.

    4. Wildclaw ferocity obviously the dream is you turn a token into a alpha wildclaw at focus speed so fun card.

    5. Void seeker, is this as good as ravenous flock? No it can't target champions but I'll play it for sure.

    6. Void pkg, impossible to evaluate. We know pantheon and Viktor are good cards but they work independently, meanwhile Kaisa is dependent on them to go off.

    7. Captive yeti yes please, the biggest problem with yetis beside the no rally thing, is not enough yetis to turbo out the 8 drop sometimes.

    8. Crackling ice , frozen in fear - omg Ash support yes please yummy yum yum.

    9. Scavenging camocloaker they felt bad for turbo nerfing ambush and gave it a suitable replacement goof stuff.

    10. Kinkou student, insane obviously for shen.

    11. Moral support honestly even lulu should play this, it's good shit.

    12. Royal decree - combining cards is good in this case sharp sight and challenger, and it's never dead with thr creature summon

    13. Gwen pkg impossible to evaluate.

Overall great cards for established decks that have underperformed, and thr new decks will be so weird and different from what we've seen before that unlike Anny and bard it won't just be brain dead auto builds.

  • Darkseeker's channel - 13th November update: KOtsosKOtsos' Reno Evolve Shudderwock Shaman - ft. Archivist Elysiana

16th July update: Reno Pocket Galaxy Mage (40 cards) + Fun times with Rin, the First Disciple!

In today's video, I am featuring a Reno Pocket Galaxy Mage deck, which was shared by a good friend, FC Boogax! Aggro decks can be a problem, but there are some awesome interactions with this deck:

    1) Pocket Galaxy + Stargazer Luna = Draw all your 1 mana minions is awesome.
    2) Dawngrasp recasting the Puzzle Box is awesome.
    3) Dragoncaster triggering Puzzle Box is awesome.
    4) Using Sir Finley to find 1 mana cost minions is awesome.

  • Gwen Makes Her Legends of Runeterra Debut Alongside 8 More Card Reveals

Gwen in the game is straightforward mele carry, her only unique ability is her W who summon a mist that makes her untargetable to anything outside it but they can't really translate that ability in game since Shadow Isles in not supposed to have protective spells.

  • Gwen Makes Her Legends of Runeterra Debut Alongside 8 More Card Reveals

Gwen is welcome addition to the game, currently there simply too much burn damage in Runeterra, the game need more healing.

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

    Staff

Don't really think the average viewer would stick around. They'd see there's no card, get mad, leave, and refresh Reddit a few times. Anyone wanting to watch the stream for the game would stick around even if the reveal is before the first game. No matter how you slice it, that was a crummy move on his part.

  • Hydra Core Achievements

As promised, here are a few achievement dedicated decks to help you out:

The Hunter deck should be the fastest to clear the achievement and even had a decent winrate a few months ago. The Priest deck is slower and takes a bit more setup, but once the key pieces are in hand you can go off and sometimes get double digits worth of achievement progression per game. The Shaman deck is just queuing up and trying to rush multiple minions alongside Flametongue Totem mindlessly per turn. Opponents will always take out the totem first, so conceding afterwards is faster than looking for the second copy.

Rinse and repeat until the achievements are all completed. Doing this at a rank floor is preferred. Good luck and try to have some fun, remember winning is not important whilst doing hardcore achievement hunting!

there can be interesting applications ...

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

Frankly if something punishes combo decks in wild I consider that a win. I don't expect this to make a big enough impact in wild for that to matter though.

  • Gwen Makes Her Legends of Runeterra Debut Alongside 8 More Card Reveals

Honestly there isn't much to make her feel 'just like the game' here. I'd say that the translation is pretty minimal for the most part but that is bound to happen when you are making this sort of transition. That being said I'm not thrilled with her myself but I tend to be a control deck style of person (one of the reasons I've been playing less and less of LoR).

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

I understand that it's frustrating for the folks who have to sit around and upload the reveal content, but is it so bad for the average viewer? I don't begrudge the fella an opportunity to use a Hearthstone reveal to plug Hearthstone content, given how rare Hearthstone tournament viewership can be. Thijs gets a plus and for the 95% of people that check the news site for new cards at day-end or day-beginning, nothing changes.

  • Gwen Makes Her Legends of Runeterra Debut Alongside 8 More Card Reveals

Gwen needs to deal 10 damage, but it doesn't specify she must use Hallowed to up her Power. I wonder if people might drop her package and just go for buffs or something to give her juice without running these other cards. Haven't played Runeterra in a while, myself, but they don't seem super exciting.

Gwen came out after I stopped playing League, so she doesn't have that same "oh wow it's just like the game!" connection to make her appealing to me. The Drain scissor animation is cool, though.

  • New Neutral Minion - Theotar, the Mad Duke

Interesting disruption card, where the likes of Prestor druid will severely suffer. You'd ideally want to wait to play Theotar when you know your opponent has a key card in hard. Giving your opponent the least impactful card from your hand seems like a nasty upside as well. Imagine you taking your opponent's Guff while you give them a useless card like a weapon buff.

  • New Neutral Minion - Ashen Elemental

Very interesting effect, one that I wish was added to the game earlier in HS's life, like many ppl are saying. It's definitely a tech card against combo/control decks and the different combinations of archetypes that can use this card in wild is...a lot. Kinda like a Rustrot Viper where it'll see play if certain classes are reigning supreme.

  • Ashen Elemental is a New Card Revealed by Corbett for Castle Nathria

I will try it in Mill Rogue or Mill Druid :D

  • Ashen Elemental is a New Card Revealed by Corbett for Castle Nathria

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Mill decks for Wild format, especially Mill Rogue.. Yes, that's dirty :D

Can be played as a setup for next turn where you force enemy to draw cards. Source of additional damage to opponent even before fatigue happens.

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

but I guess we'll be stealing their stuff too with our own Theotar, so who knows?

I know. The strongest decks will be the least affected, while the weakest ones will be worst affected, aggravating pre-existing balance problems and creating even less deck diversity because a) concepts vulnerable to Theotar, the Mad Duke will be disfavored, narrowing the field, and b) Theotar, the Mad Duke will itself become a commonplace. This also has a synergetic effect with Blademaster Okani as both of them are ultra-strong denial effects fueled by Brann Bronzebeard, making the entire trio more common.

No-counterplay hard counters have never been good for any game; they're simply, at best, less bad than the worst parts of the game, much like amputating a limb to stop gangrene. I've played games where my denial effects stole my opponent's denial effects: I get a dull chuckle, my opponent doesn't get to play at all, and it stops being funny in the slightest within a minute.

    So, not a fan.

  • New Neutral Minion - Theotar, the Mad Duke

    Quote From dapperdog
It might end up being a card every player must have/craft because the only counter to this is by playing your own theotar.

I'm under the impression the devs expects Renathal to be the counterplay here.

Theothar heavily punish "one trick pony" decklist; meanwhile Renathal allow such deck to become "two trick pony" by adding 9 more cards to their list.

    Seems sane to me.

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

Most quest decks can complete and play their reward in the same turn, the exception being priest. This card would really screw a quest priest deck.

Thijs' reveal was supposed to be about an hour and 45 minutes before this article went up. However, instead of revealing it, he said something along the lines of "we'll show this card after the first round of the tournament" (this all happened on his Twitch rivals stream) and just didn't show the card at all. He even teased us with the envelope containing the card. And like I said in the comment, there was a 30 minute gap where the card could've easily been revealed.

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

What happened? What did Thijs do?

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

In wild little bit broken, but nice card

  • Theotar, the Mad Duke is a New Legendary Card Revealed by Thijs for Castle Nathria

Pretty interesting card, but i don't think it will just replace mutanus overnight like others think, because of one major thing. mutanus was free. And it gave you a nice big minion most of the time.

  • Ashen Elemental is a New Card Revealed by Corbett for Castle Nathria

wouldnt curse of agony work with this? there could potentially a combo somewhere there with brann
