Over the past month I have only been offered Priest, Warlock, Warrior, Hunter, Paladin and Druid. Not a single Mage or Shaman. Is anyone getting Mage as an option?

And I am also either getting slim pickings or I'm terrible at drafting :D The rounds I win, I scrape through, usually with the help of some top decking. One opponent played 3 North Sea Kraken. I think a lucky Imp-losion on his Giant Mastodon let me swarm through.

The tournament will take place on December 14th and 15th, with a 7 Round Swiss on the first day and the top 8 on the second day in a Single Elimination Bracket that  will also be streamed. You can find more details here.

Like many players, I was excited when Battleground was announced. However, my initial excitement was dampen when seeing the selection of heroes. Where are the iconic 9 starting heroes we are familiar with? I am intending to rectify that situation.

Things to keep in mind:

• Each heroes will have multiple hero powers with the intend to represent different aspect of the class.
• The Hero Power reference BASIC and CLASSIC Set only. This is because I think these are the cards that represent these heroes best. It wouldn't be Ragnaros if he doesn't deal 8 damage randomly.
• Each hero will each get at least one "generic" hero power - that is, Hero Power that mainly offer board advantage and one "utility" Hero Power - a hero power help them in the game in a unique way. However, be warn that sometime the category can have some overlap.

Let's begin. Each heroes are sorted alphabetically by the name of their class:

Malfurion:

• Savage Roar and Mark of the Wild are "generic" Hero Power of Malfurion. They benefit different board state and strategy for him: One allow him to go wide with high attack minions to win the early game or possibly go for low attack high health minions and then buff them up, while the second one create big beatstick to protect your valuable targets.
• Wild Growth is the "utility" Hero Power for Malfurion. It allows you to be very creative with your Gold curve and create interesting break points. Fall off pretty hard in the late game just like Wild Growth.

Rexxar

• Animal Companion is the "generic" Hero Power for Rexxar. Pigeonhole you into a Beast build, so Misha was chosen to give it some utility over the Curator's Hero Power
• Steady Shot is the "utility" Hero Power for Rexxar. Get extremely aggressive in the mid and early game to smorc down the enemy. Good for punishing late game oriented heroes like AFK or Lich Baz'hial

Jaina Proudmore

• Ice Lance is the "generic" Hero Power of Jaina. Most similar (but significantly better) than Pyramad given that the Freezing only take 0 Coin. Of course, you have to have some strategic think on which minion you really want the Health buff to land on.
• Blizzard is the "utility" Hero Power of Jaina. A better version of Nefarian's Hero Power at double the cost.

Uther:

• Blessing of Kings is the "generic" Hero Power of Uther. Suitable for a mid-range playstyle
• Lay on Hands is the "utility" Hero Power. Heal you up, Discover a minion of your choice depend on your Tavern Tier

Anduin:

• Inner Fire is the "generic" Hero Power for Anduin. This allow for strategies that value high health low attack minions to thrive.
• Radiance is the "utility" Hero Power for Anduin. Allow you for more durability during the mid and late game when you're near death

Valeera

• Edwin's Assisstance and Conceal iare the "Generic" Hero Power for Valeera. It allows her to have an interesting playstyle of keeping control of her board space and which minions considered to be disposable to activate the Hero Power. Conceal help protect your squish minions and allow you not to draft as many Taunt and protect them from minions like the Zapp Slywix since Stealth will prevent him from choosing them as a attack targets.
• Shadowstep is the "utility" Hero Power for Valeera. Allows her to easily get a double / triple minions and combine them together.

Thrall:

• Lightning Storm is the "generic" Hero Power for Thrall. Similar to Nefarian, this allow him to ping off Divine Shield and remove those pesky small minions (like that dangerous Khadgar) all while dealing some serious face damage. In exchange, this will Overload Thrall for 1 going in the Tavern.
• Ancestral Spirit is the "utility" Hero Power for Thrall. Allow Deathrattle, Poisonous or just generic big upgraded minions to resummon themselves.

Gul'dan:

• Corruption is the "generic" Hero Power for Gul'dan. This force your opponent to buy weak / understat unit unless they want to be sniped off by your Hero Power.
• Sense Demons is the "utility" Hero Power for Gul'dan. This ensure you will have Demon synergy right off the bat.

Garrosh

• Inner Rage is the "generic" Hero Power for Garrosh. A 0 mana version of Putricide's Hero Power in exchange for the minion to take damage.
• Brawl is the "utility" Hero Power for Garrosh. This allow him to reduce significantly the damage taken if he lost the combat round.

Good evening all, 

Does anyone know where I can find the new Descent of Dragons wallpaper? I see that the official Blizzard site has done a very good job of hiding their old "media" link. I'd really like to get the new expansion wallpaper - any help would be appreciated!

Long story short: played against a lot of Quest Shamans and could beat most of them with a variety of pretty average decks, except of course when they just happen to have Mogu Fleshshaper + Mutate on turn 3-4 and just completely highroll you with no counter whatsoever.

I'M not saying Quest Shaman needs to be nerfed in any capacity at this point, but if there's one thing that would drastically axe its winrate it's probably that very combo.

It's just an autowin against any deck that relies on beating them on board and it doesn't help that you don't even have to overcommit to be punished by it. It's essentially MCT but instead of playing around it by having only 3 minions you need to play around it by having no minions whatsoever, because if there are 4 minions on the board by turn 3 you lose the game (unless you are blessed by Hir'eek himself)

This is basically just another symptom of the Conjurer's Calling epidemic because Blizzard refuses to acknowledge that high-cost cards that can reduce their cost to be play on early turns are just broken in combination with cards that take mana cost into account.

If they fixed this interaction by having cards "remember" their played cost when they hit the field, we wouldn't have had to nerf CC and MAge wouldn't be dead right now.

There was a 3x class card offering adjustment that happened mid way through dual class event.  

Blizzard did not revert this adjustment when dual class ended.  

Blizzard has just reverted this adjustment as of the latest patch update.  

You'll be seeing 5-8 class cards as opposed to the 20+ class cards we saw previously.   

Classes that relied more on class cards to do well (mainly classes with poor hero powers) will be affected negatively in win rates.  

Play accordingly.  

So, I have been struggling with a terrible internet connection lately but at least Hearthstone still worked. It would only maybe crash once on startup and afterwards be fine.

However, since sunday, maybe 1 out of 5 attempts gets me into the main menu; loading my collection may require up to 5 minutes and attempting to start any game tosses me out of the game for good. I know part of my issue is the internet but that is a problem that has gone on longer than these severe issues.

Is anyone else having trouble similar to this?

I got this idea from browsing the site looking to get familiar with it. I got to the Cards section and saw the ability to rate cards in Arena, Standard and Wild.

So Card of the Day is exactly what it sounds like, a randomly selected card from a past or current set. It allows us to rate it based on how we feel about it currently or how we felt about it when it was a standard card.

Veteran players will probably appreciate this since it gives us an opportunity to reflect on a past meta. It can simultaneously bring insight to new players on old mechanics or strategies that people used to play with.

Then people could also format their comments to help articulate whether or not they are talking in context of Arena, Standard, or Wild:

Arena: (Card) is good for Warlock because it is a neutral heal card.

Standard: (Card) is good with mech decks because of the multiple synergies.

Wild: (Card) is good because it heals you while simultaneously putting a body on the board.

I love playing hunter, but it feels kinda bad in the current meta so had to craft this new deck to try to keep up.

Its Kinda facey since you don't want to go too late but it can still play Mid range very well and tends to Deal roughly 15 to 22 damage instantly or more with a good Zephrys

Why is Riot making a card game?

A lot of us have been playing card games since we were kids, so we know the issues with the genre: Spending an entire paycheck just to try another deck. Over-the-top randomness deciding which player wins. Playing against the same decks over and over, and cards that stay broken way too long.

So we asked ourselves: what if we could change all that?

Basically, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what we’d do differently. And now we have a chance to shake up the genre by keeping what’s great, improving what’s not, and adding some new twists of our own.

What’s different in LoR?

Beyond bringing the world of League of Legends—including the champions, characters, creatures, and regions of Runeterra—to a totally new game, there are three big things we aim to do differently with LoR:

• Support a diverse meta and endless experimentation with frequent releases and balance updates.

Who is LoR for?

League players who love strategy and card game players looking for something different should feel right at home with LoR, but we hope players of all types can find something they love about our take on the card game genre.

Do I have to pay to get started in the game or to unlock certain things?

Legends of Runeterra is free to play. There are two in-game currencies: Shards you earn through play, and Coins you can purchase anytime.

Here’s how unlocking stuff works in LoR:

As you play, you’ll complete quests and earn experience to advance and automatically unlock new cards, but which region you unlock first is totally up to you. You decide where your cards come from, and can switch regions whenever you want, which makes assembling your dream deck a whole lot easier.

Once a week, you’ll also unlock chests from the Vault. The Vault levels up as you play and upgrades the chests inside, which increases the number of cards you get from each. Individually, both the cards and chests have a chance to upgrade into something even better, and at level 10 and above, you’re guaranteed a champion.

Sometimes you’ll encounter wildcards, which can be turned into any card you want—no guessing required. A limited number of additional wildcards are available in the store, which is replenished with a new stock each week.

We know that sometimes you just want a guaranteed way to get specific cards. So instead of waiting for the right drop, you can unlock cards for your collection using the Shards you’ve earned or the wildcards you’ve acquired through play or purchase.

Bottom line: In Legends of Runeterra, you will never pay for randomized packs, and you have a bunch of different ways to get the cards you actually want and build multiple decks for both casual duels and the competitive meta.

When it comes to cosmetics, there are free base options that every player starts with: the Summoner’s Rift Board and the Poro Guardian. Stay tuned for more details on other ways to personalize your LoR experience in the future.

Why are you limiting how much players can spend on cards?

It’s a good question, with a slightly complicated answer.

The summary version is that we want to ensure you always have something you’re looking forward to unlocking, and that you’re constantly discovering new cards and strategies. Slowing down how quickly the entire set of cards can be unlocked is one method for helping us accomplish that goal. There’s a lot more to it than that, so expect to see an article soon that dives deep into how card acquisition will work in LoR.

Does LoR include all the champions and factions from League of Legends?

Currently, LoR features six major regions of Runeterra—Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover & Zaun, Freljord, and the Shadow Isles—and 24 champions (four from each of those regions). League players will probably notice that there’s a lot more of Runeterra to still be explored...

Will LoR have its own story and champions or will it co-exist within current League lore? Will there be any new and unique champions in LoR?

Every character and card in the game comes from a region of Runeterra, the same world that the champions from League of Legends hail from. You’ll encounter some familiar faces and discover completely new ones.

Will there be a ranked system?

Absolutely—it’s currently in development.

Will there be a “limited” or draft-based game mode?

Definitely—we plan on sharing some details very soon.

Can I play with my friends?

We’re still working on the friends list and a friend challenge feature—both are currently set to be ready for closed beta in early 2020.

How long has Riot been developing this game?

The idea of a League card game has been around for a while at Riot (what can we say, we’re fans). We’ve had several prototypes over the years, but Legends of Runeterra itself was largely built over the last couple years.

Is LoR finished? What’s a preview patch?

LoR is still in active development, but we’re gearing up for beta in early 2020. However, the League Ten Year Anniversary was just too good an opportunity to pass up for sharing an early preview with League players. From October 15 (7 PM PT) to October 20 (7 PM PT), we’re inviting players to join us for a special “preview patch,” to be followed by another in November.

These preview patches are a way for us to give you an early look at the game while it’s still in development, showcase new features as we go... and squash some bugs in the process.

This first one is all about the core experience—which includes getting cards, building decks, and playing games—so you can try out the fundamentals before we add more stuff. And, as a bonus for this Preview Patch, we’re giving you a bunch of wildcards up front to help jump-start your deckbuilding experience.

Can I spend money during the preview patches?

Yup! The preview patches are a great opportunity to get early player feedback on what we’ve built so far, and LoR’s business model is something we’re particularly excited to show you. We're really excited we get to focus less on selling packs and more on the things that make a card game great: deep, interactive strategy; frequent releases and balance updates; and endless experimentation.

Any money you spend during the preview patches will be carried through any pre-launch account resets in the form of Coins (with any purchased content refunded to Coins).

We want LoR’s progression to feel great for players regardless of how much they spend, so let us know what you think about it!

Will there be account resets?

Yes, at least one prior to launch. You’ll keep any Coins you’ve purchased and get back any you’ve spent during the preview patches or closed beta when LoR launches.

Is Riot working with anyone to make LoR?

LoR is mostly being developed at Riot, but we’re working with three fantastic art partners: SIXMOREVODKA, Kudos3d (partner studios for card art) and Beyond-FX (partner studio for VFX). Working closely with our veteran, in-house art team, our partners are playing a critical role in making LoR a game that lives up to Riot’s high artistic standard, and takes players deeper than ever before into the world of Runeterra.

We also work with several external parties who provide functional QA, localization QA, and compatibility testing services that help ensure LoR hits the quality bar players deserve.

Why doesn’t LoR use Riot Points (League of Legends’ paid currency)?

There are two main reasons. First, Riot is working on multiple mobile games (LoR and League of Legends: Wild Rift), and, as it turns out, both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store actually don’t allow games to share currencies (for a bunch of good reasons). This restriction and other eccentricities of cross-platform currencies pushed us towards an independent paid currency (Coins) for LoR.

Second, we’re trying some interesting new stuff with LoR’s business model (see earlier questions for more info on that), and plan to actively fine-tune our system prior to launch as we gather data and hear what you think. An independent paid currency will give us the freedom to make any necessary changes in the run up to launch, without worrying about cross-game ripple effects.

Do I need the League of Legends client or a LoL account to play LoR?

No to both! Legends of Runeterra is a standalone download. If you have an existing LoL account, you can use it to pre-register, but those without one can easily make a Riot account while pre-registering.

How do I choose a game name in LoR? Will LoR use my League of Legends summoner name?

If you don’t have an existing League of Legends account, you’ll be asked to create a game name. You can’t change this name in the LoR client once you’ve created it (for now), so pick a good one.

If you have an existing LoL account, your LoL summoner name will be used to create your LoR game name and tagline. If you change your summoner name in LoL, it will change your name in LoR.

We’re still working on game names in LoR, so expect updates once we implement the friends list and social panel during closed beta in early 2020.

How long does one game of LoR usually take?

Games take around 10 to 15 minutes to finish, but we’re warning you now: you may end up playing all night.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I log in and update Hearthstone, SSDD with every other patch.  Only this time I go in an I have fractions all over my decks that have one gold and one non-gold card in them saying that they are no complete.  I go in and have to manually remove the golden copy from the deck and then re-add it back to the deck.  Most frustrating part of this, outside of having to do it for every single deck... If I log, it resets and I have to do the whole damn thing over again.

For example, I have 1 gold and 1 regular Sense Demons in my deck.  I have to go into my deck editor and remove the golden version, and then put it back in for the game to recognize what is going on.  It is seriously irritating when I am a casual player and play when I have a spare 10 -15 minutes on my hands to have to do this to the deck that I want to play.  Has anyone else experienced this crap with this or another patch?

I logged in today and now my Quest Paladin and my Tempo Rogue decks are 2 - 4  cards short.

What happened? I can't see any notes about cards being removed from the game. Did I miss something?

Put together my first ideas for a Galakrond Rogue deck. I know we're still missing most of the new cards, but what do you think about it so far? (Guide included)

This is my first go at a Galakrond Zoolock. I tried to keep it in the realm of competitive. I think there could be potential for things like Jumbo Imp or Plague of Flames, but I think those come in to target specific metagame things. Ditto to the rusher Invoker.

I think Veiled Worshipper is crazy powerful, but with it's condition, only 4 Invokers, the natural Warlock hero power, and Solarium, I wouldn't be surprised if 1 is the correct number.

As the title says. Whether it is something healthy or not. It's just a wish.

I'll start with mine, from my own Wild perspective:

• An anti-Mech Crab (E.M.P. Operative is just unplayable).
• An anti-Secret tech that Heals you for each destroyed Secret
• An anti-Reno version of Loatheb (6-mana, maybe a Dragon?).

Basically, i really want more smart cards that can easily be included in a deck, and that do not kill the opponent's strategy, but they reward you for timely plays.

And i think that these kind of cards would greatly help Wild from turning into a deranged trashbin.

If you are playing an EVIL class, and you use a card has "invoke Galakarond", I am reading that the new hero power is triggered as well. That is, even if you don't have the new hero card equipped yet.

For example, if you are playing as a Warlock and you use Dragonblight Cultist, you will get the following result for 3 mana:

• 2 1/1 imps are created on the board, as that is the Warlock upgraded hero power (achieved after using Galakrond later in the game)
• the 1/1 minion actually becomes at least a 3/1 minion, as he gains 1 attack for every other minion on the board (including the two 1/1 imps)

There is a video on the Blizzard website for this expansion which shows how such a card works with the Rogue class.

Assuming I have this right (?), suddenly the "invoke Galakarond" cards seem much, much better. 

can someone enlighten me why is faerie dragon suddenly in tempo rogue lists.. seems out of place.. or is it a prelude to next expansion?

With Hearthstone Battlegrounds soon to be among us (and even playable by some), HearthCards has now received an update to allow you to make your own cards for the mode.

Look at Reshaper Murrie here. It's got a 6-star shield icon in place of where a mana cost would normally be. This signifies that it's a card for the Battlegrounds mode.

Let's try to make one ourselves. How do you do that? The first thing we need to do is click on the cog button (highlighted with the red circle). Clicking that will bring you to this menu:

We've seen this menu before, but now there's an option called "Mana to Tavern Tier (Battlegrounds)", which includes a drop-down menu. By default, it will be set to Off, but clicking it will give you a set of 7 options which include the standard Off, and the numbers 1-6, which represent the tiers of cards found in the mode.

From that point, just keep making the card as normal, and the result will look something like this:

When you use the option to change the mana cost to the shield icon, the icon will not show up whilst you make the card, but it will show up properly after you click "Create". There's no need to fill in a mana cost, because it will be replaced by the shield anyway.

So let's look at our finished card again.

It looks like a real Battlegrounds card, does it not? Something that is worth mentioning is that most existing collectable cards in the mode will keep their watermark, but new cards the are exclusive to the Battlegrounds mode will have no watermark. To achieve this, click the "Custom" watermark option, and then click "None" in the list of watermarks.

As the Battlegrounds mode is very fresh, we have yet to fully determine the balancing, but if you wish to see all of the cards in the mode, click here.

In addition, each card in the mode has a Golden variation (meaning there's finally a reason to actually use the Golden option). Golden versions of Battleground cards have their stats doubled, and their effect upgraded if applicable. Usually, this effect is doubled, but there are some exceptions (any card with an x2 effect will upgrade to an x3 effect). Some cards how effects that do not receive upgrades at all when made Golden, which include minions who's effects are entirely made of keywords, or grant a keyworded mechanic under a trigger (Cobalt Guardian, Toxfin).

If we make Loan Shark Golden, it will look something like this:

An interesting point to note is that Golden cards have slightly different text space to them, meaning that if you reduce the card's text size to get rid of an orphan in the text box, the finished card might still end up with that orphan. In this case, you'll need to reduce the card's text even further.

Custom class designs do not support Golden cards, so if you're making one of your custom class cards for the Battlegronds mode, you'll need to use an existing class design similar in color if you still wish to make it Golden.

Did I get this right? 

I hope battlegrounds is fun for more than a few rounds, but unfortunately i doubt it.
