Just curious how goes everyone's region progress so far for everyone has anyone on the forums already done with the region rewards?

(I say Baku because I'm pretty sure Even decks wouldn't even be a thing anymore if Genn was still in Standard. Would they? Everything that was pulling the Even decks together all rotated out anyway before the Odd/Even stuff got HoF'd and I just don't see how they'd go on without those tools. Then again, I can't say I ever tried that hard to find a way to salvage them, so the world will never know.)

ANYWAY.

What it says on the tin, basically. We're in that annual month-before-rotation lull we always get into and even though it shouldn't feel quite as bad as last year where so many OP cards just overstayed their welcome (and it doesn't!) I'd be lying to you if I told you I'm still finding Standard engaging. I'm not saying the Galakrond's Awakening mini-expac didn't shake things up a bit, it absolutely did and gave us a new champion in Dragon Hunter, but at the end of the day... eh. It's still all the same decks, and I'm just so desperate for some variety that I'd gladly take Odd Warrior or Paladin or Mage or whatever back.

...And it's weird that I expect a rotation to fix all of this, you know? As I've covered before: so many cards got shut out of the meta it barely even FEELS like we're going to rotate.

Like, I'm 95% certain that the HOF cards are going to make a bigger impact than the actual set rotation. Barely exaggerating. Maybe a little. But not much. Depends on what they actually decide to cut, but remember folks, you heard it here first.

But despite my lack of a reason to believe so, I do, because... this is just how it goes, we've been through this long enough that we know the routine. The game gets boring and stale right before the rotation, and poof, all of a sudden we're in a whole new world. I don't expect AS drastic of a change this year, largely because you really CAN'T get much different than going from Year of the Mammoth to the Rise of Shadows expac with no more death knights running around, but I think Blizz will come through for us, especially with all this hype from people who were at the recent summit.

So no, this isn't a salt thread by any means. Just the usual, bored with the game around this time of year. But I already know I'll be dropping cash to complete the new Expansion on the day it comes out, so I'll try to hang in there, grind out my daily quests, and just wait for the news to motivate me a little more.

How are the rest of y'all handling the rotation countdown blues? Do you agree it's a lot better this year? Do you feel Galakrond's Awakening did enough to keep the game fresh for the extra month and a half or so before the new year begins?

Need an epic card, so if I craft all the epics (from the relevant region) apart from the one I need, will I have a 100% chance drop for the desired epic? Then I can just refund the unused cards?

What would happen if I get a champion capsule for a region and I own all of the champions? Would it simply switch to an unowned random champion?

Here's the newest card reward for ranked play in TESL this month!

As the ranked play season ends, it’s time to reveal the monthly reward card for February. For the first time in a while, a new support card is coming to Legends: Skyshard!

Skyshard is an ongoing support in the Endurance attribute with a cost of three magicka. Unlike many ongoing supports, which stay on the board after they’re played, Skyshard also comes with a Summon effect. Playing Skyshard immediately draws a random creature from your deck – as well as kicks in the card’s ongoing effect.

As long as Skyshard’s in play, creatures you draw gain a +2/+2 buff…but also cost two additional magicka to summon. A double-edged sword, but still a powerful one in the right deck – for example, one that cares a lot more about its creatures’ stats than their cost.

In a deck focused on magicka ramp, you’ll be able to reap the benefits of Skyshard in the late game, as you’ll have more than enough magicka to work with by that point. Cards that make your creatures battle other creatures, like Squish the Wimpy and Unstoppable Rage, also benefit from the stat increase. Additionally, a little extra power and health can make drawing weaker early game creatures more useful later on!

No matter how you plan to make use of Skyshard, make sure you head into the ranked ladder today to earn your copies! As with all our monthly reward cards, reaching rank 9 in our ranked ladder by the end of the month will award you one copy, rank 5 will earn you the second and if you finish rank 1 or higher you’ll get a full playset. In addition, if you’re able to finish in the top 1,000 Legend ranks, your playset will be premium!

This subforum is a little empty. Let's fix that, shall we?

I'll go first:

I tried to to capture as much of the big guy's character as possible:

- He's massive, the biggest champion in the game by far.

- The fact that he isn't affected by any spells (this include both AoEs and revive effects) represent his immunity to magic.

- Both his Level Up and the additional effect he gets when leveled up represent his empowerment from magic.

- His spell represents the fact that his mere presence nullifies magic (at least in combat).

- The Challanger represents his eagerness to fight.

for me its quest priest becasue of everyone's favorite divine sprirt inner fire combo ! because your opponent could just make a 14/14 Injured Tol'vir that obliterates you ,and the hero power is just plain stupid restore 3 health and give a minion +3/+3 who balanced this .

it also suck because preist is a healing class and just spamming hero power is all you need to complete it

its all just a stupid archetype for a stupid class

So most of us are excited to hear about those great changes coming to Hearthstone which were hinted at by attendees of the Hearthstone 2020 Community Summit. Since the original post on the main page got flushed out and we may or may not get some news this week or even today, I wanted to give our speculations, expectations and wishes a new home.

Apart from very obvious things I expect to be delivered very soon like new purchasable hero portraits, my own contribution is to speculate about Blizzard splitting off Battlegrounds from "classic" Hearthstone. Maybe even Arena comes along, too. My arguments supporting that theory are as follows:

- If I remember correctly, there already are seperate teams working on BG and the rest of HS at Blizzard's

- BG (and Arena) are based upon drafting. You don't need a collection, you don't need card backs (not true for Arena, though no big issue imho), you don't need anything you obtained during your time before BG was introduced. It wouldn't hurt veterans to split BG off.

- Auto chess is something completely different than "classic" HS. It's easy to imagine people loving BG who have no interest in "classic" HS and vice versa (I'm an example for the latter, no surprise). This argument strongly speaks against seperating Arena, though.

- BG is getting a lot of love from the devs. The frequency of the introduction of new heros, buffs and nerfs is amazing. Maybe they are pushing this hard because they want to get the biggest player base possible before kicking off BG as a seperate game.

I must admit that I'm really not convinced it would make sense to split off BG from the business side of the issue. But with a little stretch one could argue that BG isn't even a card game anymore since you can't collect the cards. That might be enough to distinguish between the two branches and shape seperate identities. If all of this amounts to "cementing HS for the next decade" depends upon the questions if 1) seperate BG would still qualify as part of HS and 2) what will "classic" HS receive this year.

I'm looking forward to hear your thoughts about the upcoming changes and getting roasted for my somewhat crazy idea. Thanks for reading!

• Most treasures are completely neutral and can be obtained by any class, however:

• You must use an appropriate watermark for your card

If you look at Fiora's L2 full artwork, you see an awards ceremony.  I get that the 2nd place guy is the Laurent Chevalier punk, comically sulking because he lost to Fiora--but who is that 3rd place guy?  I would have expected it to be Laurent Protege or Laurent Duelist, but they're both blondes and this guy is distinctly brunette hair.  Is he unique to this artwork?

Any unit that has a "when you survive damage" effect will trigger when it has barrier. While that kind of effect is not hugely problematic today, it seems generally unintuitive to me, as the unit hasn't actually taken any damage. Other effects (like the "drain" from Grasp of the Undying) don't treat that as damage.

Has anyone else been surprised by this?

Or, if nothing else? Print an equivalent of him as a replacement for one of the Legendary cards, if Edwin or Leeroy actually do get HOF'd. Look, it would be better than nothing.

I'm not a budget player, I'm a collector. I own every card in the game and I don't see myself slowing down on that pace anytime soon. So don't anyone make the argument that I have a personal bias here, as this change would not affect me in the slightest. But I do understand that a card like Whizbang as a permanent addition to Standard makes the game a lot more accessible for people, especially considering how much more expensive Hearthstone gets with every new set.

There's been some talks of it around the forums here and there, but never anything serious. With rotation season growing closer and closer, I think we as a community really need to make a big push to Blizzard about this and see where it gets us. Now or never, you know?

Hi Hunters,

I've been looking to freshen up my Rexxar gameplay lately and was wondering what off-meta builds folks have been experimenting with in Standard these days? 

My main goal is to use under-played cards/synergies to generate novel problem solving opportunities for myself (and hopefully my opponent) in Casual mode (i.e. winrate <=50% is OK/expected).  Below are a few examples of what I've been tinkering with for the last couple weeks.  I'd love to see what people have theorycrafted for these type of archetypes as well as any other of your own crazy conctions!

• Beast Highlander - Gives an excuse to play cards like Octosari as well as a super long-shot combo where Scarlet Webweaver hits King Krush and then you use Escaped Manasaber to play the discounted Krush + Dinotamer Brann on the same turn
       
• Off-meta Unseal the Vault Hunters - I wish Licensed Adventurer enabled more combos for Quest Hunter in the late game, but so far I've really only built around Onyxia as a new threat with the coin.  However, being able to play 3x SN1P-SN4P + Hero Power on Turn 10 is also a nice change of pace.
  • Highlander Vault is pretty fun but Deathrattle Vault with Nine Lives and Deathwing is my pick at the moment.
  • Has anyone tried a Mech Vault build?  I could see one with Chopshop Copter having a little spice to it.
          
• Chef Nomi / Mecha'thun  Hunters - I like to try cycling with Arcane Fletcher each season and I think it might be in its best spot ever as the 1-drops aren't terrible at the moment (e.g. Dwarven Sharpshooter, Secretkeeper, and Springpaw).
  • Add in a few other deck thinning options like Tracking, Phase Stalker, and Diving Gryphon and you're well on your way to Nomi or Mecha'thun!
  • I also like to include a sidequest or two so I can run 1 copy of Licensed Adventurer and use that coin to play Archivist Elysiana + Baleful Banker on Turn 10 to experience the good ol' days :D
          
• Token Beast Hunter - A token deck without Quests so I don't feel pressured to play all the quest cards.  Instead we pump up our tokens with Spirit of the Lynx, generate value from them with Witch's Cauldron (replaying the spells via Zul'jin later), and draw from them with Cult Master. 
  • Fresh Scent and Veranus spice up the list a little from past seasons
         
• Midrange Weapon Hunter - This archetype has been awful for me, but I always try to include Bloodscalp Strategist in a build each season. 
  • To mix things up I've tried using Skydiving Instructor to thin out weak draws like Dwarven Sharpshooter and Shimmerfly in the midgame and then use Mojomaster Zihi to keep things in the midgame.
         
• Bad Luck Albatross Stuffer - After feeling the salt from a series of Embiggen Druid match-ups, I made something that has no intention of winning...you just stall and hope to frustrate their draws with as many 1/1s as possible.  Naturally, this invovles removal cards + Albatross, Nine Lives, Ramkahen Wildtamer, Dire Frenzy, Revenge of the Wild, and Zul'jin.
  • This deck also gave me the opportunity to play Tentacled Menace in the hopes of discounting two of my cards to 1-mana.  As a result, I throw in a Colossus of the Moon for the super rare high roll.  

Other builds I know I'll be experimenting with until the next expansion:

• Typically try a couple Flark's Boom-Zooka decks - one with big beasts and revenge of the wild and another with deathrattle minions and Deathwing
      
• I also really like the memes that Blatant Decoy enables with little-used cards like Colossus of the Moon, Big Bad Archmage, and Ysera. 
  • Unfortunately, when you combine the Decoy with Nine Lives it doesn't pull another minion from your hand.  Instead, it gives you another copy of Blatant Decoy and then pulls that new copy into play.  However, I've been meaning to try Nine Lives + Necromechanic to see if it will play the new Decoy and then pull a big minion from my hand.
        
• And when I'm really burnt out I'll make a full Casino build featuring Drakkari Trickster, Mischief Maker, Transmogrifier, Wyrmrest Purifier, etc. 

It's kind of crazy that, although I've listed a bunch of under-used cards, there are still a number of fun-looking ones I haven't touched this season like Dread Raven, Chromatic Egg, Body Wrapper, etc.

Please share any crazy Hunter theorycrafts you've been testing below!!

With the way you guys rigged the shuffler Algorithm people can run 3-6 champions and maybe like 3-6 followers and 28+ spells.  This isnt MTG, stop thinking it is.  Control decks in MTG require multiple colors of mana, as well as the cards to deal with the board.  A mentally handicapped child with no eyes and 33 IQ could play your version of a "Control" deck,  please stop sipping off the special ed juice can and balance your fucking game holy shit.  The fact you actually paid someone for the last set of balance changes, and then an even more special ed in the mind person was like "OH MAN THESE CHANGES LOOK GOOD I APPROVE".  If the world was run by Riot we would be worse off than the stone age.  How much do you require people to spend on the game to change the shuffler algorithm?

I'm getting beaten pretty badly at (bronze?) rank 3 while playing the Yasuo deck on the front page.  Perhaps I'm playing it wrong or this just isn't a good deck for this level?  Should I switch to an aggro deck?

So what's everyone think about the nerfs/buffs so far!? I'm honestly curious to see what everyone thinks about the fact that Lux has been buffed for a THIRD time now, which seems odd. I can't think of too many times in card games where cards were buffed multiple times. Plenty that were nerfed multiple times....=(

Also, from what I've seen so far on the ladder it seems like control isn't taking over after these nerfs which I think is AMAZING! I think it shows that there will be a very healthy metagame moving forward. I've seen plenty of Noxus/P&Z aggro decks that do just fine racing some control matchup's, etc. 

SOOOOO happy with the nerfs to Fearsome & Elusive's as well - they managed to significantly reduce their power while still ensuring that each card is 100% playable. Whatcha all think!?
