This just happened when my opponent played The Harrowing against me:

Since three Chump Whumps where among the revived cards, they also got six Mushroom Clouds. At first I thought it was a bug, but after looking into it I found out it's supposed to happen since Chump Whump's card text says "when I'm summoned, create two mushroom cloud in hand" and not "play: create two mushroom cloud in hand". I decided to share it here since this is actually a really cool interaction with The Harrowing that a lot of players probably aren't aware of (It was also quite scary, since I had very few cards left in my deck when this happened).

Topic, but I'd like to expand on my mindset on why this is something I believe needs to be addressed.

So right now, we live in a meta where Elusive Aggro is dominant, and there's a limited amount of ways for some regions to counter that strategy. Demacia has a share of Challenger Minions that can snipe the stealthy guys, Shadow Isles has removal (in fact, Shadow Isles has even BETTER removal tools than Piltover, the region that seems to want to specialize in that sort of thing, but that's another show), Freljord is pretty much reliant on Avalanche and whatever your secondary region's tools to deal (maybe you can buff Braum, and maybe you can slam an Anivia, but neither of these are really practical solutions as you're reliant on getting a way to buff Braum, and against the really aggro decks, you're dead before you can get Anivia to clear the board) This isn't an Elusive hate thread, I'm just using it as an example because it's the clearest way to demonstrate my point here, there are strategies that are going to dominate any card game, and most of the time the strengths of these strategies play right into the weakness of other decks. It's just how these things work, sure, and it's always going to be that way as long as card games are a thing.

...But the question I'm trying to ask here, is what if we had a Neutral set that any region could use, to at least offset the various number of overwhelming strategies that may enter the game, just to give the decks weak to whatever's dominating the meta this month a fighting chance? I'm not saying every deck should have the tools to counter everything, just give them one or two cards to make things a little less lopsided. Some equivalents to stuff like Dragonmaw Poacher, or Galakka Crawler,  and other such things would be very healthy for the game in my opinion, and I think it could do a lot to address the current Elusive situation and other things that might spiral out of control down the line.

So, is a "Tech" set of weaker cards that any deck can utilize designed to address certain specific strategies the way to go, or is there a better approach to balance the game in the long term?

So I really wanted to play this game, but since I am unfortunately an owner of a Mac I had to install Windows through Boot Camp. Sometimes while I'm playing the game, the display will just freeze and I have to restart. So far I have never met anyone else who plays through Boot Camp and the support team said they couldn't help me either. So if anyone knows somethings I can try to fix this problem I'd appreciate it. I had a daily to attack with 20 minions form *insert region i forgott but i took the right one because quest is gone and it counted ot the progress"

when i finished my quest i had exactly the 1100 xp earned i needed to get the golden chest from my regional rewards.

the progression bar fills, the quest is over but i didnt get a reward.

Also when i go back to the regional reward it counts that im still missing about 1000 xp to that chest....

so i not only didnt get my chest, but also i didnt get the 1000 xp which is also something id love to have :)

can anyone help me or has anyone experienced something like that?

or am i just simply missing something?

i tried to draft Teemo and id just didnt work out...

the second one was really bad and i honeslty just surrendered after the first half of the game to save me the time

It seems i cant play any 2 matches without seeing a buffed elusive deck and idk about the community, but it feels extremely boring at this point. All i can see at plat is elusive decks and i feel pushed to play either the elusive deck itself or a counter. I know the meta builds itself and people play around what's best but can't at least some of the best decks just not be elusives? Elusive as a mechanic doesnt really feel too bad but the tons of buffs and them having deny feels unfair. But what should be nerfed? If any cards at all

Why does Blizzard doesn't use the EXP system for something useful past level 10, and remove the cap of 60? It's really the progress and dedication people have been asking for.

Tie rewards to the exp system but ones who are worth it and not useless golden cards you can't even disenchant. I am sure veteran players forgot but you level let's say mage to level 60 and what do you get? a golden Dalaran Mage amazing card 100% worth to level the class to 60...

Make it infinite with loops like in Overwatch where every level/few levels you get a "class pack" (which is a pack with cards of only this class), the rewards in the game are mostly boring at this point you can make people who main a class be more likely to get cards for that class this way...

Sure it's asking a lot from the greedy activision but it would improve the constant issue of the game being too much p2w... just like gwent and LoR use regional rewards, HS can too and the system is already in place just that the rewards suck and the system isn't used for players that play the game for a while..

If there is any systematic change in HS it is in the standard rotation, looking forward to such change this april specially with the rising competition in the F2P territory.

It's that time of year again, in only approximately two months there will be a new year rotation, which will probably bring with it another round of Hall of Fame. What cards do you think will be HoF'd? What cards do you hope will be HoF'd?

But man. This guy is driving me crazy.

There were times when you could distinguish between decks that are likely to run Leeroy Jenkins and decks that are not.

But tuday, LITERALLY every deck I face plays him, no metter what the deck type is. It is just a universal 6 damage face finisher for 5, which is good in everything. So sick and tired of the entry sound as well after playing this game for 6ish (?) years now.

It should definitely go to HoF with this year's rotation in April.

What do you think?

So Riot has stated we're going to get our first real balance patch on Feb-18, and my question is: what do you think their policy will be do for nerfed cards?  E.g.: for Hearthstone, for 2 weeks after a patch that changes a particular card to have less power, players can refund that card for 100% of its crafting dust (roughly equivalent to converting it into LoR shards equivalent to its wildcard rarity).  Significantly, it's ONLY the cards that were changed--many times, a single card out of a multiple-card synergy will be nerfed leaving players angry that the other cards now have no place in the meta yet can only be dusted for the standard 25% refund.  I'm not as familiar with MtG:Arena, but I saw in the recent Oko/etc nerf that they banned the cards from the popular formats and everyone automatically received wildcards of equal quantity and rarity.

For the closed LoR betas Riot didn't do anything, but I'm discounting that because the collections weren't "real" then--all collections were planned to be reset and all coins were refunded.  Now, if you go and buy wildcards with cash to craft specific cards, that's effectively permanently spent.

My personal guess: they won't refund anything.  Unlike MtG, they can actively tweak cards after publishing and unlike Blizzard, Riot seems to be committed to balancing rather than just hindering cards until they cease to be relevant.  This seems to be their design philosophy with League of Legends: they want all champions to be relevant, so they will buff and nerf a particular champions over and over until they find equilibrium--and as such, they don't give refunds.  (At least not as far as I can tell; I'm not a big LoL player so please tell me if I'm wrong here.)  I could potentially see them giving out some shards in LoR just to placate players who are used to the other systems--especially if complaints get too vocal--but I don't think there will be any consequential.

What is your guess?

^Title. I'm not saying I'm close to doing this at all (I've currently only gotten all of the rewards for one region) but I'm just curious. It may not be relevant right now but eventually there will probably be quite a lot of people who will have completed all of the regions and even if there will be new ones, Riot can't add regions forever. And if those people also get their vault to lvl 13 in a week, it will result in any experience earned being useless.

I think a solution could be to add continuous region rewards for after you've completed a region (or all regions), which should be less efficient in the amount of value they give for the amount of exp that is required for them. For example, let's say you've completed Demacia. If you still want to get more Demacia cards, you will continue to follow the following "reward path" which resets every time you complete it:

1000 exp for a random common -> 2000 exp for a random rare -> 3000 exp for a random epic -> 4000 exp for a random champion

I'm not saying these should be the exact amounts of required exp or the exact rewards of course, but for someone who completes their daily quest and gets the bonus exp for the first few wins every day, getting the random champion would take about 4-5 days, which I think is pretty fair. It's also up to Riot to decide whether they want to make this region specific or not (but the former would be more appreciated :p).

Another thing Riot could do is allow you to reset all regions after you've completed them, or they could add more region rewards to each region in the future.

Please let me know if you know whether anything happens after getting all region rewards, and what you think about my proposition.

Hey, working on this mini set of legendaries based on characters from the animated shorts. It's a set about Hearthstone itself, about cards and packs and card sets. I'm trying to use art that includes hearthstone cards in the image. I imagine this as some kind of promo-set, maybe for an event or giveaway. Check it out!

Ava creates a pack from the latest standard expansion set (currently Descent of Dragons). Whizbang creates a pack from a random set in Wild (currently any set from Goblins vs Gnomes through Kobolds and Catacombs).

So turns out you can play any wild card in this brawl, just copy a deck that has no standard cards and then it will suggest you to paste it once you are in the brawl, then it will select a card from the deck, it will find only wild cards and it will settle on one.. TBH tried a few minutes to figure out how he settles on a card so far it seems that if a certain card exists then it will select it.. how it selects it is unknown to me.

I tried to make it so it chooses Patches the Pirate but I didn't managed to replicate it yet (I faced someone playing patches, added him to question how he did that but of course he wouldn't share, then I remembered this bug and turns out I was right, and it wasn't fixed...)

Anyway nice check if the deck is valid when you queue.

Solution? check the deck's validity on queuing up and ban Pogo-Hopper from this brawl.

Nice suggestion to replace the wild card (Also it lets me replace it).

Seems as though aggro is going to dominate this game for the time being. Most aggro decks are able to fill the board by turn 3 or 4 and removal is few and typically at a higher mana cost. If you want that removal when you need it you have to skip a turn or 2 to build up your spell mana and by then you have probably taken too much damage. Not wanting to ruin aggro entirely I think some mana costs changes are needed. For instance Shadow isles can put out 7/6 worth of power turn 2 with cursed keeper and ravenous butcher. There are a few more but shadow seems a bit over powered at the moment.

Thoughts?

What can I purchase with shards? A part for expeditions and cosmetic stuff. No way to purchase cards? tks

Has anybody gotten any extra copies of Champions they already own three of yet? I'm THINKING they might have a similar system to HS where you don't pull a Legendary card you don't need, but I don't have any hard evidence for that.

...And just for laughs, how many shards are extra champions worth?

After many turns of my Shadow Isles control vs that 4000 IQ Heimerdinger deck thats showing up everywhere we hit the decisive finish, He had 1 HP on nexus I had 3. I swung with my 2 minions that if unblocked would do 10 damage. He had 2 minions to block but instead of blocking he played Get Excited targeting my nexus. I swiftly played Vile Feast in hopes that I could survive with one HP, but of course he had a mystic shot available as well. Then instead of putting up blockers he hit OK and everything went off. My 2 minions struck his nexus leaving him at -9 HP and his mystic shot brought me past the threshold to -1. But when the flashing colors were over it told me I lost, and I assumed it showed him victory.

We both dropped below 0, him even more so that I did. Why the hell did I lose?

I dont know if its just me, but feels like im playing druid. Hope this deck helps someone its not optimized yet, but you may understand something about this I do not.

Pretty simple to play just do the most optimal thing you can has lots of card draw for a highlander decks so you can likely burn through most people even the druids pretty often.

Hey, so I wanted to make a list of my opinion on the best cards in the game. So i decided to make a video on it. Let me know your guy's opinion on my list and also what cards you think are really really good. Would love to hear your opinions!

I started playing this game in late November 2017. Before that, I played Shadowverse, which also featured the rush mechanic - same name and functionality - which was infamous for some decks having a 'remove everything' policy. One reason I found Hearthstone interesting and eventually stopped playing Shadowverse is that this game isn't based around having unpreventable damage from hand, whether that means damage to creatures or damage to face. Being able to actually establish a board, yet not automatically because you've done that, made the game much more appealing to me. It felt more like MTG.

Since being introduced as a keyword in Witchwood, there are currently 64 cards which either have rush, can gain rush or interact with rush some way. Not all of these are viable, I know, but a quick read through the list suggests about 30 are viable or have been viable at some point. Simply put, the mechanic feels too widely distributed and makes the game into a fight of whoever can make their rush creature stick after playing and swinging with it. I have no issue with any deck archetype - except for the extremely non-interactive Quest Priest, which ironically lacks rush creatures - but I'm playing games now with a Highlander Hunter deck which is just turn after turn of slamming rush minions into each other. I suspect that the old coin Chillwind Yeti play wouldn't be viable now because it would just get removed instantly instead of trading.

I've probably written this post poorly but I hope it gets my point across.

normal (named as story now) is laughably easy and heroic which is challenge mode is like normal difficulty..

there should be story(unlocks cards) normal(deck building) and heroic (ACTUALLY HARD!!!).

chapter 3 looked promising, a deathrattle deck that can pop them for 1 mana.. that's really challenging right? wrong! he trigger your deathrattles too so it's easy, the moment you gain board control you win.

A Skruk that buffs all his deck and board and hand by +1/+1 every turn for 1 mana.. 50% of his deck are weapons, the other half useless kobolds..

And 2 identical fights that are quite just ok, not hard enough though.

On the evil side it was a pure joke, heroic could be called easy mode for what it's worth...

The first one all his deck are dragons so dragon slayer and dragonmaw poacher make him a joke, the second one is the only one that made me make a custom deck(patron warrior) and is identical to the explorers so I am just annoyed it's the same fight, not even a twist.

and the dragons? it's a joke right? stall 10 turns.. just pick mage and freeze the board every turn.. not even close..

I don't know why they made them so easy... I remember trying again and again and again on BRM,naxx and frozen throne(only lich king, really) and having hard time trying to beat the bosses with many many tries.. this is a breeze.

and what annoys me is that it's obvious they made them easier.. cause they could make the dragon boss only trigger his on DRs they could made the dragon hunter actually having a functional deck (I passed for 5 turns doing NOTHING.. and still won), and the ships.. at least have ANY difference between the fights.. add some cannons only eudora has and cannons only the wanderer has..
