Captain Blackheart's Treasure
The Captain left treasure for EVERYONE, but mostly for you! Each turn, open a chest of three random cards and choose one to put in your hand!
Trivia
- This brawl was the debut of the Discover mechanic before it was introduced in the League of Explorers.
- Originally, this brawl was supposed to launch in October on brawl week 20, but technically difficulties shut the brawl down and replaced it with Spiders, Spiders EVERYWHERE!

The "Supplemental Mode" team has really been dropping the ball lately. Not only are some recent adventures (Book of Heroes and Book of Mercenaries) now impossible to complete because the programmed draws fail to account for nerfed cards, but we now have the THIRD repeat of a Brawl in a single year, following other recent repeats.
Murder at Castle Nathria was released yesterday; today's Brawl would have been the perfect time to do "deck recipes" brawl.
Brawl is so bad that they even forgot to code fatigue.
Really enjoy this brawl, it is one of the random ones, But sth about It really makes me want to play It again
NUMBER ONE mistake I see a lot of people doing: Coining a pirate on 1 mana. What advantage does that give you? You have a hand of 2/3 pirates. Your opponent has a hand of 2/3 pirates. I can tell you confidently the extra 2 damage to face won't make a difference in the end. Keep your coin for later on in the game where it will have impact.
I played the brawl 8 times over the weekend (had the weekly quest for it), and every single opponent who coined a pirate lost.
If you pulled a 1-drop and are playing Demon Hunter, coining a pirate lets you answer your opponent's pirate while staying on curve. You can then do pirate + hero power on 3 to really lock the board down.
Otherwise, you're 100% right.
I love this brawl.
Wow, same strategy as last week,
Pick paladin and win.
Whew, one try, one pack.
when is blizzard finnaly gonna be creative instead of only brawls we already seen 809189 times
This particular brawl has been done 7 times. Ya'll need to take a break if you think once a year is too much for a brawl.
3 times in the last 3 years.
3 times in 2016
1 time in 2015
Seeing it written like that seems a lot less that the feeling I have when I play it. I feel we had this one a couple of months ago and it's been about a year!
Maybe it's just an issue with old players that played it every single time.
Blizzard doesn't have time for that...
The company is too busy thinking of new ways to monetize the game, such as flooding the game shop with exclusive bundles increasingly more expensive every week...
They said multiple times that tavern brawl is on the back burner because the responsible dev team is preoccupied with Mercenaries and Book of heroes/mercenaries.
Also, their new approach to the shop is generally well received. Cosmetics buyable with gold, buyable decks for good value, legendaries added to bundles and the standard packs are an upgrade to Phoenix packs. I’m sure there are a bunch of golden card collectors out there that are more then happy with the new bundles
Cut them some slack man.
It's not.
Tavern Brawl gives out free content (a free pack) and requires no entry fee other than leveling your characters. So basically, stuff for free.
It was the passion project of one member of the team--someone who, I remember reading, has since left. It's basically a holdover from someone else's priorities.
Activision Blizzard does not actively support game modes that provide free value. Tavern Brawl is probably the lowest priority thing on their radar.
I would expect them to retire the format sooner than give it new resources or support.
Oh my ... Warrior vs Priest ...
It took 27 turns to win that pack.
George Takai voice... Ohhhh Myyyy!
Dry oatmeal...
Each aspect of the game is just a slot machine. Not out of tune at all...
I predict this brawl will be back with us starting 30th October 2019!
