A Less Friendly Game of Chess
Things have gotten a little underhanded at Medivh's Magical Chessboard. Bring 6 unique cards and hide them under the table, they could swing the match in your favor!
How It Works
- Select a class and build a 6 card deck; 15 auto-attacking chess piece cards (first introduced in One Night in Karazhan solo content) will be added to it.
- The starting deck will have 8 Pawns, 2 Bishops, 2 Rooks, 2 Knights, and 1 Queen.
- You'll start from 20 Health, and play as White King or Black King. Your Hero Power is Castle.
- Hero Cards, as well as Whizbang and Zayle are banned.

The player who starts usually wins this brawl.
I tried Steamcleaner, but both the chess cards and the 6 added cards are considered to have started in the deck, so that didn't do anything spectacular. My opponent happened to play Ambassador Faelin though, so it was still useful.
Evolve Shaman for the win here!
it works, but Evolve itself, is Banned, so is Devolve. But you can still build a deck that works.
Thank fuck they had the wherewithal to ban Prince Renathal. I could see it being forgotten :/

I won with this team, but Kazakusan was late & Lady Prestor was dead last.
I had to replace Biology Project & Overgrowth.

Side note: During this Brawl, if you Discover spells from your class or the opponent's class, your only option will be the Coin.
I tried Drakkari Enchanter, but apparently the auto-attacks are not considered to be end-of-turn effects.
What did work though was using Darkbishop Benedictus:
If you read downthread, you'll see that other people had the same idea regarding Drakkari Enchanter during previous editions, and it didn't work back then either.
I did a quick check before posting that, but too quick, since I didn't see there was a page 2 of comments.
At this point Im having to come to OoC just to see what the tavern brawl is this week.
Rogue -> Plaguebringer + shadowstep + draw options -> easy win
Another one of my favourite brawls.
Unfortunately, Jaraxxus is now banned, so no fun that way. However, Libram of Justice plus City Tax is pretty broken.

There might be a bug in this edition (February 2022). Opponent conceded on turn 7 and I got my pack, but my daily and weekly quests weren't credited (play mage; win 5 arenas/battlegrounds/brawls)!
A few more details:
Why have they banned some evolve effects, but not all? I had a quick, easy win yesterday with Explosive Evolution and Bogstrok Clacker, among other things.
