I do enjoy these behind the cards articles! Keep 'em coming!
I'm going to remain optimistic about dragon paladin actually being decent. I'll be happy if it's even a tier 2 deck. There's also the chance that Team 5 decide to add more dragon support in the Core set next year with the likes of Dragon Speaker and Dragonrider Talritha.
The typo on "minions" bothers me too much 😅 You need a very high attack undead, the best being Underking or Bonelord Frostwhisper but getting 6 attack on each of your minions is basically game winning so this legendary would be very good in token/swarm decks.
Unfortunately there's not enough good outcast cards in Standard atm but I'm sure some more will get reveal this expansion. Bare in mind though, this won't be as easy to discount as lets say Umbral Owl but afaik, you don't necessarily need to activate the outcast condition per card for this minion to get the mana discount.
Its a different direction to take rouge, that's for sure. While I remain optimistic, I have a feeling this is just gonna be a grindy achievement legendary and nothing more.
I dno... there's something about this card that wants me to give it 4 stars...
The mana discount is nothing to laugh about which is even more mana discount on top of Rotten Rodent. I really enjoyed deathrattle rouge back in the LOE days with Unearthed Raptor, so I'm keen to try this archetype again, even if its bad.
Res priest lives again...in aggro form! This might be good in Shadow priest to res Voidtouched Attendant? Or maybe some sort of deathrattle priest can use this for value. I'm sure someone will find a nice combo.
This...is a scary removal spell for swarm decks. Max stats that you can steal is 7/7 coz you'd have max 7 undead on board. That's the best outcome. Glad this wasn't printed for DK where they have The Scourge...
Quite the simple rogue spell, but in the grander scene of things, this spell will be played in some miracle lists. It's basically Gone Fishin' but 1 damage instead of Dredge. Will definitely see play.
I was taken aback when I saw Disguised Toast's name in the image. Definitely going to be funny watching from his POV. He'll probably be like: "all these cards are OP!"
Awkward stats but I guess you want this minion to die anyway to summon the undead you discarded. The only way to consistently target an undead minion would to have only 1 in hand. That minion would also need to have a good effect and bad or no battlecry. Obvious choice would be Savage Ymirjar but I wouldn't be surprised to see a Bonelord Frostwhisper summoned from this deathrattle.
That's one scary Doomguard but having rush instead of charge is a big deal ofc. This minion would feel bad if you discard the wrong cards though so maybe having more specific discard minions like Nightshade Matron are better for consistency.
I'd imagine this card will see play in Standard, but not in wild, there's better discard there.
Really great discard synergy, reminiscent of the Dark Arts in duels. With the Walking Dead and Soul Barrage having additional benefits when discarded, this card will definitely see play.
If discolock lives again (or is it unlives?), the Walking Dead will be front and center of the archetype. It's basically a defensive Silverware Golem but with 1 more stat and taunt. The power creep is real.
So basically you have 2 turns to benefit from this effect, your current turn after playing Timewarden, then your next turn. This is good with the 2/1 Whelps with rush or even Daring Drake. Unfortunately, dragon paladin will be a short lived archetype till the Standard rotation next year so doubt we'll be seeing much of this guy.
Most dragons are also very big, with 13 dragons alone costing 6 or more mana (in Standard). You'd probably not be playing this dragon on curve and would want to be more greedy and wait till turns 7 or 8. Might be too slow then.
Very easy condition to meet and having a 4 mana 5/5 rush is good tempo. There is the Scaleworm comparison but this dragon is better coz 1) it's a dragon instead of a beast. 2) it has inherent rush so if the requirement isn't met, it's still a 4/4 with rush that can do something the turn it's played. Ofc though it'll only see play if the whole dragon Paladin archetype is resurrected from the grave. 😏
Considering the dragon pool is very good atm (but may get worse after the next Standard Rotation) this should see play in different archetypes. Most beneficial would be dragon paladin and as we've seen in the Wronchi video, getting a 5/5 dragon with Taunt and Divine Shield after playing Timewarden is very good.
If this effect was printed for any other class, it's probably be broken as we've seen in warlock with Bloodscent Vilefin. There's not that many big minions in paladin atm that are too scary. This minion also has some anti synergy with Anachronos. I guess adding it to a pure paladin and dropping The Countess or Ragnaros, Lightlord would be a decent play, not bonkers, but decent.
Incredible 1 drop, especially in the early game. I'm keen to try out Rise to the Occasion again but honestly, an aggro non-quest paladin would probably be good as well.
Luckily there was no new paladin card that "turned damage into healing".

Ummm, guess a funny Envoy Rustwix combo? For standard though there's Amorphous Slime and Lady Darkvein so there's definitely some interesting deathrattles to gain.
Doubt it'll be good though, shame for a warlock legendary.

Side note: imagine a deathrattle rogue with Bonelord Frostwhisper

In wild there's Sethekk Veilweaver and Nazmani Bloodweaver for miracle priest.

Also hope this means my boy Spawn of Deathwing sees more play ❤️
