  • Really hyped to see more dragons any day.

    Comments on new cards;

    - Spawn of Deathwing is probably only ever going to see play in a theoretical zoolock, but because its effect is random and it discards a card from your hand, Im not optimistic. Had this discarded from the deck it would have been nuts, but it doesn't, so that's too bad.

    - Deep Breath looks bad, and is probably bad. But its an option I guess.

    - Lightmaw Netherdrake is one very strange dragon I would say. But its probably not that great. Unlike the more consistent Duskbreaker, this one comes with a frankly absurd condition, particularly against fast decks, when you may need an urgent clear at any point of time.

    - Onyxian Drake is strong there's no doubt about it. Shield Slam has survived the test of time and is still one of the most powerful removal option warrior has, only limited by 2 cards per deck. And here's a card that gives you the same effect with a vanilla stated body. And taunt as well.

    - Onyxian Warder is an arena card, a very good one at that. But in standard it just wouldn't cut it.

    - Don't Stand in the Fire! is basically a weaker Volcano but only strikes one side of the board, but the most important aspect is that its a fire spell. It certainly covers many of shaman's shortcomings, and being an overload card fits perfectly with the already decent quest shaman deck.

    - Whelp Bonker is basically a weaker Acolyte of Pain, but will only ever be useful in a buff deck like paladin and priest. Will this break the tradition of shitty midset epic cards? Probably not in my opinion, but comes closer to it than any other previous midset epics that's for sure.

  • Not exactly how I'd done it. People are hungry for new cards, they come all excited and are then given nothing but teases, via story no less. This is not to hammer the storyteller or the story itself. But if people come in anticipation and expectation of a card reveal, it doesn't help when there isn't one.

So to get everything straight, Swaybae isn't going to reveal any cards, she's just there to tease a card reveal? That's new

  • Lol, 70 bucks for the golden miniset, that's just amazing. That's more than 4 times the price of the normal set. For some reason tears are flowing down my cheeks as I write this.

  • Bring on the cards, because we definitely need a meta shakeup right now.

  • The video makes a compelling argument. Basically the reason why traditional hearthstone is declining;

    - Its a very old game at this point. I dont need stats to show that traditional hearthstone is losing traction and that its esport scene is close to being dead. Youtube views have also substantially declined, followed by the loss of interest of popular youtubers like disguisedtoast. Most games that aren't csgo don't really sustain its audiences through the test of time. I remember that rainbow six siege was at some point hailed as a milestone, and I simply couldn't see it go down. Same goes with pubg. And yet here we are.

    - The controversies aren't a small thing. While I dont think current players can actually quit hearthstone for it, it makes it very difficult for new (young) players to want to start playing it. Given how most youngsters are given choice, and are usually more progressive than older players, why would they bother with a blizz game when there's thousands of others.

    - Hearthstone is expensive to collect, to have fun in. That's a point. I don't need to reiterate what most people would be well acquainted at this point, but to put simply I've opened somewhere around 130 packs this expansion and I still only have around 1/3 of the legendaries in the set. The reason why LoR can only get better (its still trailing behind hearthstone in my opinion) is because its just easier to get into by comparison.

I kinda like bot mathematician's work to be honest. I feel that they measure their opinions well, and use whatever stats that is available to them to make a point. I don't necessarily think they are the apex in terms of statistical analysis, but they are one of very few, maybe none, that makes an attempt at a hearthstone viewpoint using stats. Besides, the presentation must take some work, and I can respect that. Youtubers like Kibler and zeddy may get more views, but its one thing to hold a camera and express your point, its quite another to make an somewhat animated show out of it.

I know you guys/girls are way further in mercs then I am. Just doing pve side for now and slowly upgrading the mercs in the meantime trying to progress in the bounties.
So is there any info available about the best party combination to beat bounties. Right now i am just stuck and try to find the best combo.

Fire team. Antonidas/Barongeddon. Third spot is flex, can be rag/mutanus/etc. If you need to grind up strangers, this is by far the best and fastest team to do it.

In terms of viability in beating bosses. Its nature bros all the way. Malfurion/Guff/Brukan. More of less always gets you there unless its a clear unfavored matchup (like facing up fighter bosses). Diablo and Carine is basically almost always in forth and fifth. The sixth spot is up to you. For me its brightwing.

Admitably, Im getting a bit pissed facing druids right now because its impossible to guess whether its aggro or ramp druid and a wrong mulligan will be completely ruinous given how polar opposites both decks are. But its so far been an okay experience in standard.

Just play Quest Priest and hard mulligan for Pandaren Importer, Venomous Scorpid, and Thrive in the Shadows regardless of the matchup. Can't have a wrong keep when every card is a re-mulligan.

Control decks have this one easy. Just mulligan as though its aggro druid, because ramp druid can only ever win via yogg or a really, really bad draw from control decks. Quest priest has it easy against ramp druid that you dont even need to specifically mulligan for it. Its aggro druid that's the real threat here.

But for non control decks, this one is hard. Aggro druid can easily snowball from a bad mulligan while ramp druid has so much late game that you really cant let them ramp for free.

  • Should at least let us know what deck you're playing in standard.

If youre playing aggro/beast druid then you should have absolutely little problems getting a win percentage above 50%, especially in lower levels.

Admitably, Im getting a bit pissed facing druids right now because its impossible to guess whether its aggro or ramp druid and a wrong mulligan will be completely ruinous given how polar opposites both decks are. But its so far been an okay experience in standard.

  • Maiev with her face uncovered just never feels right for me. Also, isn't that technically a glaive, its no dagger for sure.

  • Altogether now moving to pool 2 is a little strange, given that its not really that good ever since the last nerf. In many cases, its just permitting you to put down big threats a turn earlier, a not insignificant thing for sure but compared to other pool 2 passives, it'll only ever be chosen because the other stuff are crap.

One way this might turn out as a buff is in dragon priest since you can now choose dragon affinity in pool 1 and altogether now in pool 2 for a massive 3 mana reduction (most dragons have battlecries) and that's about it.

As for battle totem and totem of the dead, its a fine change, but Im not a fan of it. Certainly people build their decks to get a chance at a good passive, and now one of the few better ones is directly competing with broken stuff like shadowcasting 101 and stargazing. Its just incredible. Almost seems like team5 is trying to make duels less about big turns and more about who has the least shittiest buckets/passives throughout.

  • In terms of story, it has to be Barrens - Alterac. Its not really because its story is top notch, pulitzer prize material, but because its one of the few that actually attempted a story and pulled it off decently. The only other 3 expansion-long storyline is from RoS - DoD, and honestly the plot there is riddled with holes and poor execution. So within its merits, the merc story is going well (given how the recent Tavish storyline went), but certainly lots of room for improvement.

In terms of soundtrack, there can be no better than RoS. The song really clicks, with that cheesy over-the-top theme, of which I really enjoyed. Other soundtracks worth a mention: Boomsday, K&C, and Naxx.

  • That unlocking treasures and hp in duels is really testing the limits of my patience. The second hp for drekthar requires the person to play 40 spells at 3 mana or more, which is frankly disgusting. Most of the time you'd just die by turn 6 whilst only permitted to play 1 card per turn, and the minute you try to build a deck that can actually win and features a few spells that do cost 3 or more, those spells feel more like a self-inflicted handicap, like trying a 100m race on one foot.

In other words, its simply more efficient to build a deck thats 100% unable to win games but ticking requirements. Hardly a fun time to be had. Even the bs stormwind meta seems less rage inducing.

Perhaps team5 thought that since Vanndar/Drekthar would be here to stay long term it'll eventually be done with some coaxing and nose holding, but I fear that all it does is discourage me from playing these heroes at all. I dont play duels just to grind up requirements, knowing full well that my opponent is hardly ever going to do me favors. At least let us choose the damn classes, so we can build decks that can actually stand a decent chance at all.

I'm stuck on Popsicooler! Any tips?

Did it with murlocs, with subpar passives at that. If you have brightwing, then all you need to do is to deal with the two other minions that spawn with popsicooler and damage the cart, thereafter the boss cant really do anything substantial from there on because brightwing heals just too efficiently and the murlocs deal too much damage.

  • That's admitably a nice looking card back. Too bad its only for huawei users. And possibly you'd got to go through plenty of hoops just to get this one.

Kinda sad. I really like the design

  • Is there really some lore behind this card?

Far as I know, its just a decent card to fetch extra mechs, and take advantage of situational cards like Clockwork Giant.

Its not used in standard because standard doesn't care so much for a few extra mechs. Bring back magnetized in the core set next year and then we're talking.

  • Just to clear up the air. What I meant was that OoC might consider making a sticky thread or article somewhere listing down all the bugs encountered and resolutions in the hearthstone game. So if someone needs to refer to a list, they can come here.

Im glad to say Ive not encountered a single bug in my near 2 years use of this website.

Obviously, Im not alluding that OoC is doing any sort of a bad job at all.

  • I supposed that's true, but they could have at very least remove all the hero cards. Or apply the same logic in arena to this brawl, so swing cards are less of a problem.

I havent seen a Ysera or Sneed so far, but doubtless if I had I would very likely win that game, regardless of the hero power my opponent chose.

  • To be honest, why even bother having an ultra pool 2 when its clear that certain passives just end the games then and there.

But talking about shadowcasting 101, this is literally having the same impact as robes of gaudiness and to a lesser extend, meek mastery. It should ideally have died the same death as robes, simply because its just too good. The only way shadowcasting cannot just win the game is that the deck is not build for it i.e. a deck with no minions, etc. Anything with a damaging battlecry puts your opponent on a clock with nearly no counters.

Even if its only met 1% of the time, losing to something like this leaves just a bad taste in the mouth. Or at very least nerf it so the extra minion disappears from the hand at the end of the turn.

  • At this point maybe Outofcards should consider keeping a log of all known hearthstone bugs, fixes, etc. as a permanent feature for the website. Might drum up plenty of activity and views. After all, bugs are seemingly a regular thing in hearthstone nowadays whenever I see no highlights or actions from my opponent I instinctively think that the game might have silently crashed.

I do appreciate the work team5 puts out, but this falls really well off the standards we kinda expect from blizzard entertainment. Maybe its because they know they can patch it anytime they simply dont bother with QA anymore.

  • Its basically an arena game with duels' hero power. Just drop minions on curve, and try swinging board all day.

And then you realise that this is in fact not a carefully crafted deck you're receiving, but a random one. So the game effectively ends whenever your opponent lucks out a hero card or any must kill card.

Baffling to be honest. And this being a new brawl too.
