It was a bit of a busy end of the week with the new expansion being announced so I wasn't able to get up patch notes for the site. Here's everything important you need to know from Wednesday to Sunday.
Bugs Fixed
Fixed an issue where it was possible to cause the homepage to error if you published an article that had an empty tag. Thanks for accidentally finding that one, Sylicas, and for only letting the staff see the article!
Removed client-only rarities from our rarity drop downs.
Usernames on the site may now only be alphanumeric.
You can now edit your comments as many times as you like without needing to refresh the page because of shitty JavaScript.
New Features
Hearthstone Card Reveals
Guides with unrevealed cards now display placeholder images.
Additional backend changes have been made to prepare for the expansion and make it easier for us to cover.
More card reveal related stuff will be coming early this week.
Polls
Currently an early version.
All card pages now have rating polls for rating cards based on how you think they will do in Standard, Wild, and Arena.
There isn't any way to see the data yet, that comes this week.
No ETA on creating your own polls on the site, but those are on the todo list.
Comment Replies and Quotes
You can now reply and quote comments!
Comment replies are nested everywhere except the forums so you can easily follow conversations taking place. So sorry this wasn't in at soft launch.
Editor
Added a new row of buttons for Card, Card Image, and Deck insertions.
You can use the card or deck ids for the above bbcodes. You can also use the card name for the card ones.
Changes
Improved backend performance on many pages. The homepage especially should load just that tiniest bit faster.
You can now access Recent Threads from the Forums Nav dropdown.
Standard Hearthstone expansions now display in the Expansions dropdown. All other sets, please click on expansions!
Hearthstone Mechanics
Added Combo (cards are not yet flagged with this, we need to resync our data)
Added Lackey
Added Twinspell
You can now press on the HearthStation name at the top of the site on mobile to go to the homepage.
Deckbuilder
The deckbuilder looks better.
You can now easily page through cards with the larger buttons or the scroll wheel.
Added a format option called "game format".
Standard will only show you standard cards.
Wild will show you cards from every set.
Only Wild will show you cards from sets not allowed in Standard.
Request for Comments: Would you like an Arena sort so we can display only cards that you'd get in Arena runs?
Changed the way the cards sort so it is now lowest cost to highest. Still need to sort them by cost AND alphabetically. Soon (tm).
Remove the save buttons at the top that didn't do anything.
Hey guys, please make NEW threads for bugs or feedback (and in the appropriate forums :D)
@anchorm4n I fixed the issue that caused the errors. It was attempting to build deckstrings for cards that don't have actual game data (fun oversight on my part)
@AlexJnr HearthStation text on mobile will be made clickable - thanks!
They are two separate giveaways with different criteria. One is a giveaway for 3 bundles and it is focused on creation of site content. The other giveaway is for 1 bundle and is focused primarily on social.
We know that Priests are considered on the EVIL side of this year's expansions and will be headed by Madame Lazul, the fortune teller, but even that doesn't give us much of a tell. Maybe we'll be able to look into her crystal ball to see what our opponent is going to draw next and get a copy of it.
I am super looking forward to this card. The turn 10 dream of Kalecgos into Pyroblast will probably happen to my opponents more than myself though =(
It is nice to see another 4/12 dragon added to the game. I wonder what other Dragons we may see in this set. With Kalecgos and Dalaran somehow being involved (Magic, yay) it makes me think Mages may get another blue dragon in the set. Year of the Dragon Mage?
All the villains were imprisoned and a greater force (What up Yogg?) breaks them free. They spend the first expansion escaping and starting to cause some terror. We end up with the second set being just pure terror and the final set is us finally putting them all away.
Since Yogg is involved, we end up with some beautiful creature art in the first set.
I just want some damn Old Gods involved! Also, Khadgar for playable mage card pls.
Remember, it is possible to collect your own card so Khadgar playing Khadgar makes sense.
It is currently my drug of choice when I play the video games.
I was initially hesitant due to the whole EA thing and just knowing they were going to find a way to ruin it but so far, it just feels like the League of Legends monetization system so I'm cool with it. The make it or break it will be the upcoming battle pass which was leaked to be around $10. It also includes a hero though so my real question is, how will that hero end up being available for F2P players? Will they have it available immediately for the in-game points or will it be exclusive to pass holders for the "season".
Hit level 40 last night, so I'm only a couple a levels off Mirage now though so that's pretty cool. I too unlocked caustic first, the traps were amazing in theory but I couldn't find a proper use for them with my preferred playstyle.
I love how fast the game is. The movement is as smooth as Call of Duty Black Ops 4 (amazing movement omg) but then the shooting is miles ahead of Fortnite. It still doesn't hit the mark that PUBG does for me, but I can't even play PUBG now because it feels like you're playing a slug.
Exciting acquisition by Second Dinner. Shame that the Hearthstone team is continuing to lose some of their oldest people, but this new year feels like it's going to be such a refresh for the game I don't think it matters that much.
Good luck to Second Dinner on their development with Marvel!
Hey ADXE,
Fantastic desire!
In a late night deploy, I've added this functionality alongside other deckbuilder improvements. You can see the full changelog for recent changes here:

Good luck to everyone who enters!
Frosty you ... you're not wrong.
The forbidden mechanic makes a return! This card has me pumped for some control priest action though there are two unfortunate parts to this reveal:
We know that Priests are considered on the EVIL side of this year's expansions and will be headed by Madame Lazul, the fortune teller, but even that doesn't give us much of a tell. Maybe we'll be able to look into her crystal ball to see what our opponent is going to draw next and get a copy of it.

This is looking like a pretty kickass expansion so far. This is going to be an incredible year for Hearthstone!
The Lackeys are such an awesome mechanic, especially so since we'll see it throughout the entire year with more minions being added to the whole pool.
Really looking forward to Kalecgos though. Dude is a beast!
Alright so here's what I want to see.
