  • Another site update has gone out. It focuses on the card listings and forum editor.

    New Features

    • Card Listings Redone
      • Like our deck listings, you can now sort columns on the card listing page.
      • The class filter now has a nice image interface and you can select multiple classes to sort by.
      • Mobile users will be able to properly make use of the filters.
      • Dev Note: I know people would like a "visual" way to view the card database. We're going to work on making that a reality.
    • Forum Editor
      • Quotes are now styled in the editor.
      • Links are now styled in the editor.
      • New Colors!
        • Colors have been added to the text color picker for all the Hearthstone rarities.
        • We've also now got colors for Attack, Health, and Mana that match those used on the site.
      • Floats can now be usable in the editor. Useful for images that are right aligned. Sorry, Chimera!

    Changes

    • Signatures on the forums now have a darker border to separate them from the post content itself.
    • Deckstring button on deck pages is now a different color than the other buttons to find it easier.
    • Deckstring button on deck pages now states it is for "Deck Code" and not "Deck String" to be friendlier.
    • Hearthstone Patches has been added to the Guides navigation. Thanks to the team for helping update all the old patch notes!
    • Member profile deck pages now use the new, sortable deck listing page table.

    Bug Fixes

    • Patches in the deck page patch filter now sort correctly. (Newest first)
    • Members with no last active date no longer appear in the member list.
    • Entering a deck string where another website has encoded a card as using the internal cardid of 0 now ignore that non-existant card.
      • I know this was an issue for people trying to import SN1P-SN4P decks from HearthPwn before it was correctly flagged. Its a good long-term change to make because of card reveal periods.
  • Just want to follow up with I'm having no issues on Chrome on my Galaxy S9+ that is fully updated.

  • Trying to make a comment

  • What browser are you using and device?

  • Had to wait for client data to build proper strings. Unfortunately it relies on the internal card ids and Blizzard never makes them available before hand. Things are good to go now though!

  • Blood Imp

    A classic minion with Stealth

  • Masters Bundle will only be available through July 1st, 2019. I'll post an update on that in the news post.

  • Known issue it looks like. They just tweeted about it, added the quote in to the bottom of the post.

  • My inbox on HearthPwn was always open to people to showcase their unique decks and guides, many of which made it to news posts. I also always encouraged people who wrote guides or wanted feedback to take their deck to the relevant class forums and to spark up discussion. Unfortunately, many people would just create a thread, drop the deck code in it, and hit post. Not a single talking point about the deck.

I disagree that a deckcode or screenshot saved to your twitter feed is better than an interface actually built for finding decks.

Definitely believe me though when I say we'll have better deck discoverability than HearthPwn. I know there are always flaws to every system. One very basic thing I'd like to do is pull a half-Blizzard where we could show people that have cards in their collections imported to the site random deck guides that they have all the cards for. Building in a little bit of bias towards content that hasn't been seen but appears to be quality will help out with that a ton.

There's also going to be much more curation of decks. Although I 100% will always respect voting from a community because democracy is awesome, there have been great instances where even decks we have highlighted in a news post end up not being seen as much as they could have been. Expect an overhaul of the homepage to find more decks easier. We'll also be spotlighting wild in a dedicated block to encourage more people to check out the format and give people that like to create that kind of content better ways to get it seen. So basically expect dedicated blocks for:

    • Standard Decks
    • Wild Decks
    • Pro Decks
    • Curated Decks (Chosen by Staff)

We may even have a section that showcases a random deck guide created recently. Also, I could see a point in time where the front page blocks will only ever show decks that have guides attached to them. It helps curb a lot of the empty decks we see

  • Already exists. Every deck page has a button called "Hearthstone Deck Code" on the Copy Deck line.

A button for it will also make its way to embedded deck widgets on news posts and similar in the future.

Flexible, good for multiple lists and best of all, a freebie.

I give it five out of five tacos.

The best rating system there is

  • I resaved the cards portion of the deck and it is now properly classified as Wild. We've yet to go through and automatically fix decks prior to the proper flagging being implemented which is why this was broken.

  • That Druid deck looks pretty rad!

  • Adding it to the DB a bit on the late side, but here it is!

  • I could add a warning that would display on saving but there are no plans to put these hard limits in place. Sharing Arena and decks people have used in various Adventure modes is something we want to support so leaving it open like that allows us to do just that. Same would go for Tavern Brawls should they have weird deckbuilding rules.

  • Just for record's sake, it is high on the to do list!

(Also, quote notifications was a feature on HearthPwn, it just broke like 2 years ago when someone made some changes to how the editor loaded and the never had the time (or maybe cared?) to go back and fix it)

  • June has arrived and so have more updates to Out of Cards!

    New Features

    • Deck Listings Redone
      • You can now sort the columns on the deck listing page.
      • Added a filter for the patch a deck was added in.
      • The class filter now has a nice image interface and you can select multiple classes to sort by.
      • Mobile users will be able to see some additional data that was hidden.
      • Mobile users will be able to properly make use of the filters.
      • You can now filter for Standard vs Wild Decks
        • Do note that decks created before today are all currently marked as Standard. We will issue a hotfix to flag wild decks correctly.
        • If you want to update your deck before we get that fix out, you can resave the cards for the deck by clicking on "Edit Cards" on the deck page and it will gain the correct flagging.
    • Homepage Support Us
      • A new box is at the bottom of the sidebar with easy links to accessing how you can support the site.
      • As the sidebar gets more information added to it, this information will move to our site footer.

    Changes

    • Navigation Revamp
      • The navigation on mobile now supports options for account management, profile, and sign out.
      • Additional options have been added to each of the drop downs to make finding content easier.
      • Decks now has dropdown options. They will take you to the top decks, newest decks, deck guides, and dedicated links for class-specific decks.
    • Deck Pages
      • Now state if a deck is Standard or Wild under the Format box.
      • A placeholder for "Your Cost" has been added. We don't have an exact timeline for the feature but we wanted to make sure people know it is coming and that they can expect it.

    Bug Fixes

    • All staff should now have blue usernames.
  • Going to get Unknown labels added for each of the classes which should help with this.

If there are some mainstream archetypes we are missing though, we can very easily add them onto the site for people to make use of.

  • Quote From bickel

Hearthpwn was REALLY slow. The client side scripts were slow, but the server side stuff was also hellishly slow.

Please don't add any features that would cause this site to run as slowly as Hearthpwn.

Won't be an issue. If we add stuff that needs more processing power, we'll spin up more power. The goal is to keep things as lean as possible while having a rich set of features.

HearthPwn's main problem is it is using a horrible codebase that is relatively ancient. People not being given the opportunity to improve said code meant all the sites running on it were shit-tastic. We're building from the ground up to make sure stuff is as fast as possible and not relying on shit tech.

It's going to take us longer but the end result will be a feature-rich community that can actually grow and flourish. The HearthPwn solution was to throw money at the problem as the site became more problematic to run as far as backend performance was concerned.
