  • I love this! Not only is it beautiful and strong, it makes you reevaluate every Priest card in the set - other folks here are already talking about Desperate Prayer. That's good card design! Flash Heal and Renew also exist, of course, as well as Crimson Clergy

I'd also like to try out a control version of this deck, rather than a tempo one. Have Raise Dead, select powerful minions like Xyrella and Sethekk Veilweaver, and a healthy amount of the spell synergy package that we received in Scholomance and Outland. That would be fun, certainly, perhaps even powerful.

  • Hah, I think this is the first 1-star card to be revealed. +1/+1 doesn't matter against a Lightning Storm, and for those decks like Rogue which Ogremancer is great against, having the board to make this useful is either useless or means that you're already winning.

  • It's not a scary effect or an interesting effect, but it's a well-desired one for a healthy archetype. Cards like this, cards that build up small bits and pieces of stats and round out your board, are quite fun to play with. It's the l'il dopamine bumps that pile up with the slow accumulation of numbers. Like training a skill in Runescape!

I will say, I'm quite excited to play with Warrior on the 25th. The set mechanic, Frenzy, is just built different for Warrior. Frothing Berserker is back, Whirlwind will be around, Rokara and the new Warsong Commander fuel the rush archetype... It'll be fun!

  • Once again, hah, yeah, what can Demon Hunter NOT do? I think mana ramp and direct healing are the only items left on the list. That said, this card makes me happy, because it makes clear their vision for Deathrattle DH --> it's a this-expansion thing, like Freeze Shaman, not something that they'll make part of the class archetype. For the latter they'd print a less pigeonholed legendary.

Now that I know that, it's starting to feel a l'il exciting to play a DH archetype that isn't straight faceplace toxicity.

  • My sniffysniffer of sniffiness sniffs out a controversial card. Good reviews, bad reviews... I sniff a possible delayed metawarper the likes of Ogremancer. SNIFF!

Personally, she seems interesting but not powerful. Sure, you can whack some crazy combos with it - but most of those combos require specific cards and up the playcost to 6, 7, 8, 9 mana... A 2-card combo on turn 6 that grants you a paltry +2/+2 doesn't seem great, though that additional 'Bloodlust' or 'Murloc Warleader' could be impactful for decks without that win condition, though would any decks curated to go wide have space for several Animated Broomsticks and Guardian Augmerchants...

Yeah, I can see why this card is controversial. Heh.

  • Why does it feel like Illidan, compared to the other heroes, is a pay to win Wailord? He can do everything, and he never gets a straight-up unusable card. It's not fair! Why does Team 5 have such a swell groove on for Illidan?

    cries in Malfurion

  • Wait, is Mark of the Lotus a Nature spell? ... oh no

Anyway, this and other cards will make it very fun to evaluate cards from older sets and make new decks in Wild ^^

  • My first thought was that this is garbage - a silence effect that folks can play around? How many decks really rely heavily on deathrattle or taunt? Aren't most strong minions Battlecry minions?

Y'all have won me over, though. To hating it, that is. The prospect of knowing that your opponent will be pushing next turn and not being able to do anything about it except heal, but having no healing... Ugh. At least, I think, that won't happen so often.

  • Great card! It's not hard to imagine that you could have a taunt on the board most turns, and this dude makes every single one a tempo threat for your opponent. They'll have to contort their gameplan to disallow you opportunities to trade - or bait you into playing this bloke and trading your minions away before they use a board bomb.

I wonder if we'll see any good taunts in this set as well? This is already more support than they usually give to archetypes.

  • On the long list of effects that can singlehandedly make decks become viable, I think 'enables cheating of mana during the first few turns of the game' is right at the tippytop. This can allow you to pull out 4 mana worth of minion on turn 2, which is madness for how consistent it could be. Even if you don't draw into that, if it sticks you could have 5 mana worth of minion on turn 3... absolutely a five star Michelin card, top tier diners, drive ins, and dives, finally, some good fucking food.

  • MRRGLGLRGRLRLGLR! So you're saying I can randomly generate this card now? *unzips*

All else aside, this is an easy five star card. It's a card that swings games against similar tempo-based decks. If one assumes that Murloc Shaman can beat slower strategies, this will ensure that it also stays premium in its own archetype bucket. I just wish we had Ice Fishing...

That all said, there's no support for Murloc Shaman in Standard at the moment. Crabrider, Felfin Navigator, and Circus Amalgam are all strong expansion cards, and Core holds Coldlight Oracle, Murloc Tidecaller, Murloc Tinyfin, and the new Bluegill Warrior... but I don't see it. The 2-3 mana boardmeat that you stick to buff is missing, and Bloodlust or Murloc Warleader aren't there anymore to fuel your push. Maybe Flametongue Totem, or a whole totem/murloc archetype using Mana Tide Totem and the Amalgam?

  • I'm surprised it didn't come sooner, frankly! I've been waiting since they announced free constructed decks for returning players.

  • Why does a seed draw a beast? Maybe a beast eats it, sure, but show that on the card!

I like this, though. Couldn't care less about Tempo Beast Druid, but cards that draw specific cards are always good. If not in competitive decks, at least for fun - drawing what you want consistently is freakin' awesome! And did I mention Hadronox? Maybe even Malorne, teehee.

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this actually won't be powerful. In its 'intended deck', anyway. There will not be a 'freeze minions and destroy them' archetype, because that isn't a deck. There's no payoff. Maybe freeze minions to reach an OTK or freeze minions to build up pressure through another mechanic, though... And in that sense, I think this makes a very, very good opener with Mana Wyrm. I'll be looking forward to Tempo Mage.

  • Greybough! Lucentbark! Carnival Clown! DARK ARAKKOA!

  • Prolly won't see play without a fair amount of support.

On the bright (heh) side, Lightwell, where are you?

  • It's a neat idea. I like that Warlock is getting some new flavor with this and the other new card, as well as Envoy Rustwix. It'll be fun to see where it goes. And a 3-3 with Lifesteal ain't too bad on its own!

  • The Demon Hunter skins are bland and the Warrior Rokara skins are basic, but whoa momma, emphasis on momma, hello Xyrella! Take me to your leader.

  • That's a great point, which I hadn't thought of. The limit of two available Diamond cards removes personality from the process - you can't be the cool quirky dude with the golden Snowflipper Penguin. You're just some shmuck who paid 100 bucks for an expansion.

Thanks for putting into words why this feels underwhelming to me.

  • I dislike how good this card is. We'll definitely see it played, after all, in archetypes with healing looking for spell generation.

The flavor just doesn't make sense.
