In any other class, this would be idiotic. But in Druid, which can cycle like Lance Armstrong and has gigantic spells, that 7 mana drain is worth it.  You don't need a super expensive deck - those gigantic spells can boost all your minions into big ole minions. Just use the traditional Spell Druid shell and it'll be fine, frankly.

Second point, though - it's worth it... for you and your opponent. As the Druid, you can only make one board of Clowns (i.e.) a turn. As the opponent, they can clear that and THEN develop themselves. Usually they aren't left with enough mana to do so. That hamstrings the Druid somewhat. Not to mention, classes like Demon Hunter or OTK classes, provided they're holding draw, will have an absolute field day.

My initial assessment is that this will have a deck, but will be far too unstable to be competitive.

    YES! YES! YES!

I have wanted this minion for so long. That old school taunt package with the 8-mana dude and the 4-mana spell that gives armor... this is so juicy. It all fits! It all fits! I'm so happy. I'm so glad that armor is still part of Druid's identity, weird as it feels. It's fun to play with. And beasts! Ach. This is my favorite card of the set.

    DH get attack card. Woop.

This doesn't seem great. It's a cheap damage card that can be played easily with cycle, but doesn't DH have a few of those? Maybe Gadgetzan will be played in DH at some point...

I'll say it again - don't just think of the Deathrattle minions we've seen this expansion. There are a whole host of neat cards this could draw! Also, it's cheap and it draws cards - is the not good enough?

Actually, this gives me faith in the new archetype. I don't think it will be an archetype. Plop one of these guys down and the chain gets to work - meaning you can use a whole different set of cards while the deathrattles summon themselves! It's a healthy, consistent way to get stats on the board, and DH has plenty of shells that can work around that.

I also look forward to these cards being used as tutors for entirely different deathrattles. Specific tutors have almost always been played in one deck or another - being able to consistently direct a deck in a certain direction is just good.

Landscaping was used because it summoned Treants - the 2-2s themselves, even in a token deck, were just a stabling force good enough to justify the deck's strong pieces being used together. If we see some Demon support elsewhere, maybe this will be used!

Well, it isn't on time - the release was already pushed back several months because of the pandemic.

I agree, though. It's far better to have something polished than something new for the sake of it. They've been quite good about navigating that balance. Much better than most games!

So the Mercenaries release was pushed back a whole expansion and we're still only getting one dribble of content at a time?

I get it; I'm not so miffed, since I don't care much about the new mode. Some disappointment is justified, though. When they tease a majestic new game mode, it's fair to expect a majestic new game mode, not just a bite from one.

Very glad to see that they've fixed V-O7-TR-ON's animations, though. I forgot about that l'il dude. Time to go try him out!

Welp, that's an easy 1 star. This won't even be a fun card to meme with, 'cause the payoff involves (basically) dying. You can't sit back and enjoy your handiwork for a few turns, can you?

We've already seen several cards printed this expansion which can kill this whole board outright, and besides, you don't need to kill the imps. If your board puts the Warlock opponent in danger and you can take some damage, he has to trade his imps away and hope you won't be able to repopulate. And, considering you have a full deck left, that seems relatively easy.

Play this and SSS! Both work well with all of the poisons we have in Standard, so why not? It's a great card so long as you draw the support for it, which isn't so difficult with the few tutors that Rogue has at the moment.

It's a great card and a good deal. Why not play it?

Or rather, is it worthwhile to play it and lose a deck slot for some 3-3 body? It's not likely that you'll always be able to use the full free 6 mana, after all. And it is a Combo card!

I dislike the direction taken, it being yet another 'I drew my strong card so I can win now!' effects, but it should be good fun to play. Not too strong, with the Frenzy cards we've seen so far, though they've often snuck very powerful cards into the final Facebook dump of commons and rares.

Maybe the new alternate Rogue hero we've been promised is Kirby.

Sigils, Watch Posts, Ranked Spells . . . things are getting pretty crazy!

Cariel is my favorite Mercenaries hero, because I can make dumb jokes about her Donkey Kong hammer. It's the little things.

She's totally carrying the hammer from Donkey Kong and Super Smash, and it totally makes me giggle.

This doesn't seem powerful, though. Paladin doesn't have oodles of card draw; using up a slot with this card seems like a waste. It does improve at 5 mana, but then the randomness makes efficient trades difficult. At 10 mana you might call it a finisher, but a deck which would use that finisher doesn't want the game to last that long, does it?

Perhaps Veteran Warmedic could bring life to this card, but it seems subpar as-is.

Everything that Spark said here is what I scrolled down to type. Kargal Battlescar is an odd way to build a payoff. The watch posts aren't cheap. They're not Mogu Cultists. They're not even Weasel Tunnelers. They're relatively expensive to copy and they're tech cards.

While the flavor of summoning oodles of watch posts is top tier, the mechanics and payoffs of doing so are weirdly shaped. Hopefully we'll see more cards for this mini set - maybe in the mini set!

This is a very, very, very good card to play on 3. How many cards can remove it at that mana cost? Shadow Word: Pain is gone, so just Devolving Missiles and . . . just that? Coin into Coerce, maybe?

When you play a Control deck, you're always weighing whether it's worthwhile to take face damage from the ickle tokens or use your board clear, whether you spend resources to save health or spend health to save resources. Just playing this card on curve sets an unprepared (and as discussed, they will almost always be unprepared (thanks Illidan)) opponent back two turns. One turn to kill Mor'shan Watch Post, and then one turn to kill the tokens that were generated in the process.

Honestly, looking at this card fries my brain. It'll be a core card to a whole host of archetypes, like Tar Creeper but better.
