This time, I bought the preorder mega bundle and the new tavern pass, opened 260 packs in total (of which 25 were standard packs) and I am still missing 2 legendaries (Ara'lon and Pelagos). There are still 5 free standard packs and 1 single legendary in front of me on the rewards track, so completing this expansion will probably take care of itself I think. Otherwise I could craft the last remaining legendary (if I am impatient) or wait for the upcoming seasons reward packs.
FYI, the new Sir Finley mercenary is bugged. He does not appear at the campfire, cannot be encountered via the mysterious stranger and task 2 is bugged if you did get his first task at launch. Apparently, Team5 has disabled him now.
How did you accumulate 105K gold? Were you not spending much or any gold in the past?
I consider myself a whale (even though I am cutting down expenses each year) and I have 'finished' the rewards tracks reasonably consistent since inception and I still have only 40K gold saved up at this moment. I am just wondering if I missed out on a 'hidden' strategy to earn more gold that I do not know about (yet), lol.
Thanks! Though I do not think it is really all that impressive actually. It is pretty similar to reaching Legend. I just spend way too much of my finite time on Hearthstone which is my one and only real hobby. I consider roaming frequently on OoC also part of it 😆
Aesan already mentioned this strategy in his article above by the way and he even referred to RidiculousHat's tweet about this. Did you just accidentally reveal not having read the entire article? 😂
I am in the camp of not logging into Hearthstone until the new expansion is live. I just hope I will not experience withdrawal symptoms until that time. Since I reached level 400 about 3 weeks ago, there is no XP for me to collect until the next rewards track starts anyways.
Happy pack openings after about another 42 hours, everyone!!
My money is on Prince Renathal. Purely basing it on his portrait which seems to have some shared full scenery artwork with the hero portrait of Sire Denathrius.
I have not been following the Murder at Castle Nathria clues or the WoW lore, so I am probably totally wrong here though.
I'm You, But Strongerseems to be the single most RNG dependant achievement of this expansion which is a good thing. I am so very glad that Team5 toned down the RNG factor by quite a few notches. The discover ability of this achievement makes it even easier too.
Yeah, I noticed that coins update too and I have been exterminating N'Zoth acolytes left, right and center since the patch went live. So far I have collected 3000+ C'Thun and 2800+ Sir Finley coins and still those pesky N'Zoth acolytes keep respawning! Gotta kill every single last one of them!
I do not have any advice on the Pirates dominance question though because I do not play PvP, sorry. Perhaps Old Guardian knows?
EDIT: There is really no end to these damn N'Zoth acolytes, so I will abandon this mission (for now). I have collected more than enough coins anyways, lol.
Indeed, the three most exciting times of the year are the new expansion launch days. Once there is finally a table free at the tavern, you can really start relishing each and every pack opening even though it usually lasts for well over an hour for me.
And the most issue I encountered using mobile was the site always often open the wrong article when I clicked one open. I am pretty sure what I clicked, yet it opened an article below it, as if the site detect me clicking far below my original click.
Same experience. This issue is pretty annoying because you have to go back and chances are that it happens again. I usually do not wait for the entire page to load completely and just jump to a specific article or forum thread. I hope this will be fixed soon.
I am totally ready for the new expansion; the daily quest log is fully stocked with three 1800 XP quests plus a full set of weeklies. I just need to refrain myself from clicking on the reroll icon which my finger seem to always gravitate towards.
Don't you kinda feel that they should've just let players go infinite level instead being stingy with Lv.400? I mean why would they limit that in the first place? We all know that there's a bunch of different player that may or may not reach 400. But for those reaching 400, it's such a downer to have to see our own XP wasted just like that.
What's with that logic of stop giving player some more gold? And to be honest, those players reaching 400 I can even bet spending some real cash too, to some extend, so, gold is not a commodity they really need unlike F2P players.
@h0lysatan, I agree with you. The limit is kind of unnecessary. Though, I am not at all bothered by it that much, really.
In fact, having an artificial finish line and by reaching it I get to experience a form of accomplishment. Also, I enjoy the relieved pressure of needing to play HS during the last few weeks actually.
I am currently sitting nicely on 40K gold. I honestly do not know what would be meaningful to me to spend that gold on besides packs of the latest expansion until completion which for me happens at a modest average of 220 packs.

Not really feeling the hype just yet after having seen the revealed cards so far. Just glad that new achievements will be added for us to complete. I only have three mercenaries left to max out (six upgrades total). Also, C'Thun will be the next Old God to get introduced, w00t!
Good luck with the final stretch of the current Rewards Track and see you soon™ at CSI: Castle Nathria! 🕵️♂️🏰☠️
The Hunter deck should be the fastest to clear the achievement and even had a decent winrate a few months ago. The Priest deck is slower and takes a bit more setup, but once the key pieces are in hand you can go off and sometimes get double digits worth of achievement progression per game. The Shaman deck is just queuing up and trying to rush multiple minions alongside Flametongue Totem mindlessly per turn. Opponents will always take out the totem first, so conceding afterwards is faster than looking for the second copy.
Rinse and repeat until the achievements are all completed. Doing this at a rank floor is preferred. Good luck and try to have some fun, remember winning is not important whilst doing hardcore achievement hunting!
I have completed each and every gameplay achievement out there. These indeed require a lot of (mindless) grinding. Prepare to lose a lot of games (like really an enormous amount) since the objective is just to finish the achievements, winning is merely optional. Those 3 are relatively simple to build a dedicated deck around though:
Yeah, I left the stream open before going to sleep yesterday and this morning I was greeted by 2 fresh Voyage to the Sunken City packs. I only got 80 arcane dust from them and the 2 wrappers are now at the bottom of the recycle bin.
Guys, I'm so salty right now. I am only missing 3 Mercenaries (all legendaries, of course), so I decided to open up my 53 saved packs. Want to know what I got? TWO portraits for legendaries I already had (I do NOT care about cosmetics), a bunch of portraits for rares and epics, TONS of coins I cannot use for maxxed out Mercs, and yes, quite a few coins for Mercs I am still upgrading. I was hoping to net at LEAST one of the missing Mercs, hopefully two. I've clearly reached the point where my collection is so complete that packs are nearly worthless. This feels SO bad, man. I am eagerly awaiting news on what I will be able to use excess coins for. It better be good!
I know the feeling although my personal experience was less intense. After opening all 39 of my previously saved up free packs from doing old tasks, I only missed Reno Jackson as my last mercenary, so I opened another 18 free packs from doing new tasks and I only got a Leeroy Jenkins portrait instead. I just assumed there has to be some kind of duplicate protection built into Mercenaries pack openings, but that did not happen for us. Not sure if we both encountered a bug or the Mercenaries economy is actually much worse than I expected. Was my assumption wrong, does anyone know?
EDIT: Though not official, this is what RidiculousHat figured out by opening a lot of packs:

After installing patch 24.0, the Acolyte of N'Zoth bounty will reward coins for the new C'Thun and Sir Finley mercenaries.
Better start farming this (heroic) Darkshore bounty now with my Fire comp in preparation for the upcoming special event, I think.

"Woah, Golden Legendary!!!" 🍻
This somehow will break the game (again). When will they learn to stop making these recurring (0) cost abilities?

As promised, here are a few achievement dedicated decks to help you out:

If nobody else already did so before me in a few days, I can provide a few useful decks later this weekend. Good luck!

Druid herald also works and fits perfectly in a token Druid deck which even has a decent enough winrate.
