  • I... really have no idea what is the point of this card. Its not even skillful, it just adds extra stress for your opponent to always try and slot in a hit to the face. Sometimes things don’t line up and now you have to deal with a free 3/6? Terrible design.

I also have no idea what deck would run this. Seems strong, but might not be played. If it turns out to be very strong, then yeah, expect most control style decks to run it.

  • Now comes the question... tutor Galakrond or devastate the board? Which is more worth it?

And then comes the other question... why even lament over this? Just bounce him a couple of times or shuffle 14 of him into your deck with Togwaggle’s Scheme and devastate all over your opponent’s grave

  • Congratulations

  • Abyssal Drake incoming boys. Seems like a strong card for Control Warlocks if they end up existing.

Amethyst Spellstone was good, so this should be good as well. Warlock is in dire need of heals outside of Broodmother and Khartut.

And to the skeptics, I say that Draconic Lackey will be the missing link in activating this dragon, because obviously you will always run some kind of lackey generation in Warlock. I hope they get even more good dragons, class card or neutral to really make it shine.

  • Some people stomp the other guy faster, so they return to the Tavern faster... which is kinda weird honestly. Other exploits I found were quitting and coming back at the start of the battle. You can skip the whole battle, so you have like an extra 10 seconds which is pretty cool I guess, but not very useful.

  • Pack filler :)

Why would you run this card? If you run this, you probably would not run the Druid Quest. And why would you not run the Druid Quest?

  • This card is going to be super annoying. Mark my words. Infinite value is never fun to fight against.

  • Fills the niche of Messanger Raven I guess. Will definitely see play in any Dragon deck, because discovering a Dragon is pretty good

  • Interested to see how Dragons are gonna work in Battlegrounds. Unless they can get some crazy custom units, I doubt they can really keep up with the other tribes outside of Lightfang Enforcer. Things like Promordial Explorere could make things interesting.

I have no idea what the point of the new Murloc is. Not really needed in the slightest. Murlocs are already really strong, did they need this? I guess it could work as an occasional Health and damage buff.

  • Very good card, what else is there to say? Just slot it into any Hunter deck and it still works.

  • Eh, I’d say that it would be like Octosari, nobody expected it to be good, but it could find a niche in certain decks.

  • I doubt this card will see much play outside pf Galakrond’s hero power generating it. Outside of maybe a Highlander Priest or Thief Priest, I doubt this card will get included into anything.

It has a much more useful battlecry than the Glimmeroot did, and it will definitely help ypu to play around certain cards, but I doubt the effect is worth running in any deck

  • You think this card is bad? Well, then let me “change your mind...”

  • This provides better information in the battlecry vs Curious Glimmeroot, but it will be much harder to guess because the opponent’s hand is smaller than their deck size. It could help you dodge a Plague of Death or some board clear, and that’s useful. I just don’t know who or what deck may run it. Maybe in a Highlander Priest or Thief Priest deck for fun/free cards.

I think it will show three cards, just like the Curious Glimmeroot, with 1 correct option and 2 random options. They could be cards in your opponent’s deck, BUT may not be in the opponent’s hand at that moment. So choose wisely.

  • Well then, here’s my argument/rant:

Changing it to a 3/4 star is not better? Seriously? Just think about it. Now it is competing against other stuff you would want: Hydras? Cobalts? Alarm Bots? Annoy-o-bots? Is a 3/4 with potential to be op really worth it at that point?

Not to mention that by that stage, it can probably only receive maybe 6-7 rounds of buffs at max compared to the stupid amount of time a 3/4 in the 2-star range will give (better than most 2 stars and available as early as turn 3! You can easily get at least 10+ turns of buffs on that.) It can still be strong, just not meta-warpingly powerful.

Yes, perhaps I should stop being so pretentious. Maybe Blizzard already experimented with making it have a higher tavern cost and it turned out to be garbage, maybe they are trying to find unique ways in which I would never have dreamt of in my life that would remedy the problem, but making it a fucking 2/2 is not one of them. The problem is the insane buff potential of this minion. (When combined with Lightfang Enforcer for a few turns, literally GG. Unless you happen to be going Murlocs, get Maexxna or have an Amalgam of your own to check the problem, it is unkillable.)

Amalgam is a problem, and there’s no going around it. I love Battlegrounds, and would like to see it become better. Changing its tavern tier is a waaaaaay better fix than making it a 2/2z A 2/2 literally only makes you lose, like, 12 health max so you can win the game later. Its the same dilemma with Nefarian and George, unstoppable in certain cases. The gamemode would require massive restructuring in order to address these problems.

For an alternative solution, remove Amalgam and stat-buffing dudes. Perhaps adding more unique minions that can empower different archetypes would be more fitting. Like how we have different decks in Standard Hearthstone, maybe we can have different crazy sub-archetypes of the tribes like Deathrattle Demons that summon stuff you bought from your hand or something even more stupid like neutral tribe enablers? Now there is a load of variety with the possibility of minions we can buy, strategies can be mixed and matched together, instead of watching the biggest stat sticks wack each other to death (Junkbot and Amalgam meta).

  • Wow, make it a 2/2 and not address the obvious problem. Now instead of a 38/40 with divine shield and poisonous, it is a 36/38 with divine shield and poisonous!

  • Amalgam dodging the nerfs like its the freaking matrix... why does it feel like Blizzard always brings in good stuff but somehow always misses the crucial elements of it/something backfires horrifically?

Anyway, enough salt. The changes we did get were fantastic and will definitely shake up the meta! Murlocs can now become unstoppable fish monster thingies even faster, and Junkbot got... junked. Cobalt Guardian dodged another bullet, but whatever... looks like mechs are taking a huge hit regardless.

Eh, demons still die to a poisonous Amalgam, so its all good. I really have no idea how the Voidlord change will affect anything, it never really was a centerpiece in demon decks (you probably want to sell off Soul Juggler later on, so the tokens are really not that useful, apart from tanking a few poisonous hits). If you ask me, it just dilutes the pool even further and makes Junkbot harder to find, as well as the Battlemasters (the real Demon carries).

I’m also suprised to see Lightfang Enforcer not even touched upon. This unit is absolutely nuts, and I will enjoy collecting the free wins until this thing gets nerfed. Nerfing Amalgam will probably also slightly affect this unit’s viability, but we will have to see.

Moving on to heroes, I’m glad to see that the team is working on the gamemode so much, to the point where they are willing to rotate out heroes. Keeps the game fairly fresh. Also, rip to Lich Baz’hial. Epitome of a high risk high reward hero.

AFK not addressed at all? Polarizingly powerful in mid game where people always walk away losing ~9 hp due to rng is never healthy game design. Always feel so bullshit to fight AFK after she gets her power boost and you drop from 1st to like 6th place just bcs you had to fight AFK.

  • Lots of cool ideas! I like most of them, particularly Priest’s one. (Shadowform always was a cool, but underpowered deck)

However, some burdens like the Warrior’s one is literally unplayable. That is way too much drawback for a mere +2 attack.

  • You spoke my mind, basically.

Amalgam would be fair as a tier 3 or 4 unit as it lessens their ability to get out of control too quickly. But right now? They are disgusting. 30+ health with divine shield? Yeah... good luck ever killing that without a lucky poisonous hit. And thats just the wall you have to get through, not even counting their other stuff. And, you can get 2 of them on the board at once. Ridiculous. It basically comes down to whose Amalgam is bigger, which is... frustrating to say the least since there is so much RNG involved already.
