Is not a female lion called "lioness"? Or is it first card with transexual character in game?
No, the word "lion" is gender-neutral.
I will sound like some SJW, but if is true, why in literature female lions are called "lionessess" or "female lions"? If it is gender neutral, should they be called just "lion"? It is especially significant when we are talking about lions without mane.

I really like the art
Artwork is great but doesn't really fit Hearthstone.
Hearthstone was always a mix of different art styles from different artists. There are very detailed and realistic cards from Alex Horley like Sky Gen'ral Kragg and then there's Kill Command...
So I really don't understand why this particular card triggered so many people.

Awesome card. I was going to say that the art and text has 0 flavour, but then thought of possible Savannah Highmane interaction.
When you play Savannah Highmane and Mok'Nathal Lion together, they summon a 30/30 Simba with Charge and musical accompaniment.
Art is so much real, i m not saying it's bad art, but it's odd, really looks like mtg art, not HS.

Mok'Nathal Lion looks like a meta-defining card. "4 mana deal 5 to a minion" is already very fair removal for Hunter. Add in just about any decent deathrattle and you're looking at a massive tempo swing.
