I firstly read it as "Discover a Spell. Damage minion. Your next one costs (1) less." and said "Wtf is Damage minion. Wtf is this card really doing ?"

Wow, it seems like I might play mage again this expansion, instead of again choosing not to craft 143266 Legendaries for a Highlander one.
It doesnt matter what minion you discover
What DOES matter is that you can play these, wait, and eventualy play a 7 cost Malygos(among other crazy plays)
The discovery part is meh. The reduction on spell damage minions is fantastic
Primordial Studies Primordial Studies, don't play the discovered minion on setup turn.
then on actual turn:

38 damage OTK
10 card combo, but 1 study and 1 frost shock can be dropped for just 8 card OTK if you don't need to go over 30
Compared to other discover cards this one has quite a small pool of cards to choose from. It won't guarantee anything but it will be way less random than other cards of the same type. It's a decent support card for spell damage decks but its viability will be highly dependent on those very specific decks.
It won't be very random, only if there were not so many trash neutral spell damage minions...

I'm really not sure how good this is seeing how plenty of neutral spell damage minions are utter garbage.
This is better in mage than in shaman, because mage has some nice legendary spell damage minions. Though it is marginal, because there are like 8 neutrals all of which are mostly low rolls...

The pool is about 17 minions in standard currently, including 2 eventually-prime legendaries.
Its just a good card. That it gives you a minion makes it all the better. All mage and shaman decks can use this in some way. Since it also cheapens your next spell damage minion, you can easily keep it for a later turn for a boosted spell.
Maybe its a little to specialized for shaman. Mage will certainly be making way for this
Mage gets better discovers, because remember shaman cannot discover mage minions, so their pool is much worse actually
Is that confirmed? It is a dual class card so maybe they made it discover cards from both classes.
Class of the card never mattered for the discovers. Like Hydrologist played by Mage would still discover mage secrets.
you're probably right. Its more of a mage card. But I wouldn't count this one out of shaman yet
